I don't qualify for modern generation but I can say for sure that Black Pumas (formed just 7 years ago) does justice to their craft equally well nearly every single time they play. Their music might or might not be your cup of tea, but these lads are wonderful.
The Magnus Opus of Dire Straits. An amalgamation of all of their styles combined in one beautiful progressive rock opera story about the rise and fall of civilization.
magnum opus, not magnus opus GPT says: In Latin, adjectives must agree with the nouns they modify in gender, number, and case. The Latin word "opus," which means "work," is a neuter noun. Therefore, the adjective describing it must also be in its neuter form. The adjective "magnus," which means "great," has different forms depending on the gender of the noun it modifies: - **Magnus** is the masculine form. - **Magna** is the feminine form. - **Magnum** is the neuter form. Since "opus" is neuter, the correct form of "great" to use is "magnum." Thus, "magnum opus" translates to "great work," with both words in the appropriate forms according to Latin grammatical rules.

*⁾ I still own my copy of "Brothers in Arms". In vinyl.
@@TomFynnwho doesn’t? 🙃
Betcha wished you had toked up before they played it!
Must have been a very good radio show to play something this long!
musicality of these guys is unparalleled nobody comes close just pure class and genius
Killer drummer, killer piano man, killer bass player as well, absolute monsters
Alan Clark is such an underrated pianist.
@@konraiderk6440I know, but he never really got the plaudits he deserved.
They all are greats ... Such a Live concert!! Very well grounded band of real musicians 🥲
vraiment c'est la vérité

When I first heard this song off the album "Love Over Gold",I wept....it was so overwhelming and beautiful tears started flowing....thank you Dire Straits.
when music does that it's powerful
❤God, I was 27 at the time....how fresh and divine music was at that time. They remain my #1 band to this day!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Credit to who polished this footage, a brilliant job. Even the audio volume is spot on, thank you
It's very hard to find the right words to describe this song, this live, this performance, this legendary moment. Mark Knopfler shows all his immense class of songwriter and musician and the entire band shows why Dire Straits are the best rock orchestra ever.
Bien dicho
You have probably to be a musician yourself to realize how so so impressive the level of this concert is.
yes.

@JeanCharles-lv1go get your hand off it.
Everyone knows.
You're not special.
@@owenrees7544 and so you are.

We don't know how lucky we are to have this amazing band at their best.
Older lady here still grooving to this music .... the piano keyboard player is amazing as well !!!!❤🎹🎸🥁🎶❤🙃

I was14 ,fond if dire straits and MK..i would listen to their music 7/24..one day one of my uncles came to me and said:"if you get good marks this semester ,i ll take you to something you ll never forget.." i worked hard, got the right results and he took me to dire straits concert in Paris , France on june 22th 1983..i ve never forgot it!! The most overwhelming musical experience in my life!! Undescriptible!!..a moment of pure pleasure ,pure genius ,a moment of History!!
Terry Williams! WOW ❤!!!
He smashed the drums to pieces!
Needless to say, nobody today comes even close to these musicians, nobody. True craftmanship without silly "add-ons". This is the way it should be. Honest and authentic.
'Alchemy live' is a phenomenal live album. Been listening since the 80s.
me too, and maybe one of the top 5 live album of all time...
Telegraph Road and Tunnel of love are my absolut favs
Went to see them live when they came to Australia in the mid 80's
Absolutely mind blowing
My God.. the piano is amazing
Deadset one of the greatest live performances in history.
In re the top comment on Terry's terrifying timpani, the bandwork on this is superb, as well as the solos. Amazing and fully the right choice for 'Alchemy'.. I had a beautiful double vinyl of this, and, like an Fool, lent it to someone..
Such is life.. 🎶🌟👍
5:11 - "We love you Dire Straits"
I have always wondered who shouted that out.... who are u... are u out there...
Masterpiece!!! In my opinion. Have listen to Dire Straits since 1980.
Something like this does not deserve to end. NEVER!
Breathtaking - born in ‘71 so my late father got me into these guys - miss my Dad so much - Mark is a genius and basically got me through my dark days with his music and dark they were!
This has been my favourite song for 40 years. My first ever gig and the song I sung as a lullaby for my three children when they were babies. It’s the song I want played at my funeral. 13 minutes where every note is perfect, it brings tears to my eyes every time. Thank you Mark and the rest of the band.
Marks guitar seems to be grafted to his body,he is a genuine force of nature
Alchemy live in london is the nobel of live concert....tje goat
still cant get over how tight this version is, they're all so connected and just, ON, i still have this concert on VHS and its mind blowing
And along came one of the greatest bands ever - Dire Straits.
Back when music was music. Love the instrumental at the end. Just by looking at all of band there in the moment of the feeling and the zone of the music. I've got goosebumps
For me this is the peak of the best of Dire Straits/ Mark Knoplfer.
Not many songs can last the passage of time, which can not be said for this one ! Brilliant.
last 3 mins sounded like every band member doing their own solo's and smashing it
And not a single note out of place within Mark's brilliant tunesmithing. Just sheer unparalleled collective genius
this is such a momentous song that should be the flagship of British rock music
These gentlemen are absolutely in the zone and they effortlessly bring us into it with them when they play(PURE GENIUS)
It really doesn’t get any better than this. Absolutely every musician is in sync with Mark giving what I think is the best live performance I’ve ever seen. Pure bliss.
This is the finest rock n roll ever!!
What an amazing band. Music that makes you forget your challenges and you just immerse yourself in the unifying beauty of the sounds created by these exceptionally talented men. All these years later, I am still moved and grateful for the musical experience
I remember when the 'Love over Gold' album was first released and I heard this epic song for the first time, being 16 yrs old. It was an unprecedented music experience. I was completely dazzled, still am. Dire Straits and Mark's songs and unique guitar playing are pure magic to me. 🎶 Perhaps no other words are required really, other than: THANK YOU 🙏, on ever lasting repeat! ❤Always/ Carin in Sweden
BEST LIVE ALBUM ..EVVVVVEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Its almost a routine to listen to this song atleast twice everyday.
There is a story, a song, an orchestra and somenmindblowing music all in one
Oh My God !! Brilliant !! Mark Knopfler , David Gilmour , Eric Clapton , George Harrison , Jeff Beck , Brian May , etc .............. Thanks to all of you for your talent !!
Except Gilmour can't write music
Dont forgot rory galagher rip..
@@hansfossum4436 Sorry , but I'm afraid you're wrong about Dave Guimour ... Second solo album " About Face " 1984 . He wrote the music and most part of the lyrics . Anyway , I was just speaking of the best guitar players in the world and forgot Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix !!
@@amerjayaabdrashid9187 Sorry , I'm afraid I didn't know this artist . Gonna watch some vids on youtube and tell you about . Thanks !!
MK shadows them all. Period.
The whole track is sublime. Pure synergy on instruments!
Now 2024. Then 1984. 40 years just growed this song. Now it's Bob Dylan + Mozart -type of symphonie.
While the record was released in 84 it was recorded in 83.

Dundalk, Ireland one week later with a pint. I hear you, mate.
Kids, this belongs to an era where bad students did not have video-games or TH-cam, so instead they used to spend hours and hours playing instruments. The result: magic like this. Not possible anymore.
Magic like this Always exists in some people (like sorrow and passion), no matter what social environment you have around. He was a Genius, the only difference...today he would not be understood. 😢
@@nanagraupel I agree passion is a necessary ingredient, but not the only one. This kind of magic can only happen if you (the whole group) trained hours and hours daily during years. And nobody is training that hard anymore. So, forget it.
On the contrary. It belongs to an era when kids did have video games, but they had to go out to the arcades to play them. A time when kids were together in the real world - not a weird virtual world. A time when kids were creative. I am proud to say I am one of those kids.
@@johnmillis what you see in the video is not mainly about being creative. It is about having played so many thousands and thousands of hours as a kid, that the instrument has become an extension of the brain. Creativity will never disappear. There will always be creative people. But the result depends strongly on your potential execution. And no way people can master an instrument like the band here, when you spend tthousands of hours playing video-games or watching you tubers instead of practising.
@@joanvallve7647 don't think so, you don't know all the bands in the world. Now social forums tell the rules instead of labels. The result: stupid Kids decide what we hear. Think about It.
Inspired by Detroit's Telegraph Road. Imagine taking a bus trip and seeing it for the first time and from it a veritable masterpiece is born. 14 minutes of pure classic rock heaven. Such is the magic of Mark Knopfler & company. The drumming. The keyboarding. The subtle rhythms. Every note. We shall never see their like again.
Esto si es música señores, definitivamente una muy buena banda de Rock, My favorite song.
