I am growing Stevia for the first time this year. Thank you for the great information. I'm in Zone 4b and am going to try wintering it over in the house.
The sweet-leaved raspberry (Rubus suavissimus) also has the same use, which is also frost-resistant compared to stevia. According to traditional Chinese medicine, it is used to make a medicinal drink known as Sweet tea Tian-cha. The raspberry version of steviol, called rubusoside, provides the sweet taste of the leaves of this raspberry.

Thank you for sharing. I'm growing stevia for the first time. I started from seeds in late January. The plants look great, and I've been eating the leaves straight off the plant when I'm in my garden. Can't wait to harvest and dehydrate.
Your cookbook is amazing!! My stevia seeds just sprouted under my grow lights. I have 3 little sprouts, and cannot wait to have my own stevia for recipes. Thank you!
I have a Gas Oven and just put the washed leaves on paper towels on a cookie sheet and put in the over night. The oven has a little warmth to it and they are perfect in the morning. Then I throw it in my Ninja Processor and do not strain it (at least for baking with) and store in a freezer bag.
Great video!!! I learned how to correctly harvest, pluck the leaves! Is 6am to early to harvest the leaves for zone 5 (sun rise is 5:30am)? This is my first year having stevia plants.
Dried properly, and stored in a dark cool room a couple of years. I had such a big harvest that some of my dried leaves are now almost 2 years old and they are like the day I stored them.
Tnx for useful information, lm from Croatia, Europe, this is my first year to grow stevia❤now in October my stevia going to have flavers so lm waiting for seeds. I hope! Do you cut stevia after she flavers?
Hello! Yes you can cut stevia after it flowers, it will grow for a bit and then reflower again. Once they start to flower it is hard to stop them. Better to either take a cutting after you trim it to start over or start with a young plant.
I make extract out of the dried leaves and then use the extract in drinks and baked goods. I do have a video I made, how to make stevia extract and I also have a cookbook that has this recipe and 160 recipes on how you can use it in baked goods. Check out www.everything-homemade.com for the cookbooks. They come in paperback and ebook form.
@@phreed6320 in my experience with using stevia, as I grow it...using it fresh in recipes as a sweetener is not near as strong or tasty as using the dried and making it into an extract!
There is an excellent video on TH-cam on the excellent uses for distilled white vinegar, and the gentleman who is the content provider, with millions of viewers and subscribers, explained how to use Distilled White Vinegar, and water, and few drops of very mild washing up liquid, Preferably Use Castile Liquid Soap if you have it, with the ratio of 1 part white vinegar to 4 Parts Filtered Water, and he explained that it is excellent to use this formulation, if you don't have NEEM Oil. I hope it will be of some help.
I had 2 plants this yeat. They weren't bushy like yours. They grew tall with a thick trunk. They were in pots. First year attempting this. Can you tell me what went wrong? Thank you or anyone who might have an answer.
There could be a couple of reasons. One the plant was not punched off the top so the plant just kept grow tall nd not bush out. Or there is a couple of other varieties of stevia that are a foot taller than mine. That can play a roll. But most of the time is the plant grow tall fast and not cut back to bush out.

I'm in zone 7.5 and bringing my stevia in for the winter as well. You can grow a ton of stuff in your house if you have some south facing window!

You can add the dried leaves to a plastic bag to crush it instead, to not have it fly around in the air, and then pour it into the jar.
Thanks for this invaluable info…. I bought stevia plants today but it has flower buds….. will prune first thing in the morning
First year growing stevia. Can you also freeze it in Zip Lock freezer bags?
Thank you for this tutorial! FYI, you may want to consider getting a go-pro or head mounted camera so you can demonstate your action steps hands free.

I would let the plant wake up a little more, harvest around 8 or 9 am would be perfect.

What pest like stevia leave? please answer
@@Sicario2015-p9n in all honesty I have had no pests on my stevia outside or in the greenhouse over the last 5 years of growing it.
@@EverythingHomemadewithRita Wow it's great, do you have any method on seedling the stevia seeds?
Single leaf is called "leaf."
Many or all are called "leaves".
Do you put dry green leaves in your coffee and baked goods? Or break it down more?

I have measly bugs on my plant. How can I get rid of them? Will they affect my other plants? I have peppers and tomatoes and cantaloupe.
Do some research on Neem oil. I would dilute the oil with a water, add a drop of dish soap and spray it on the plants. Thats what I would do.

Once stored, how long does it keep? First time growing… I water it every day.. leaves keep drying up…! 🤔
What am I doing wrong.
Hard to say, either you are over watering them, or maybe your soil is too sandy and draining too well and the plants are just too dry.
Ist dry leaves still hv nutrition
Yes, lots of it!
I. Want one. Stevia. Stemb. Please. Give. Me
Good lord. Get to harvesting and quit talking
