Nearly did, we were reminded a couple of weeks ago. We planned an easy start to the year with a run every day month. Still doing it but hadn’t planned for a 43 mile ultra! Thanks 👍
Thank you! Even though we skirted around some of the most interesting parts it’s made us want to go back and explore what it has to offer. Won’t be too long 👍
Another great video thank you for uploading it really appreciated. Didn't seem a bad day overall weather wise. You two are going really well it's amazing.
Thanks Jess, tough route to be honest though a fast route if you’re ’run fit’. We’re not! Loved the fells and technical stuff way more than the roads and hard packed tracks. A great start to the year!
Well done both brilliant work 👍 the drop from fiensdale head toward Langden castle is one of the best in bowland area sounds like you both enjoyed it . Technical and scenic 😀
@@TrailRunningCouple spent a lot of time running the area over the last few years it’s an Amazing place . So quiet hardly ever see a soul. Bleasdale is a nice parking spot next to the church and then you can get straight up on the fells
Well done both! I know exactly what you mean about enjoying the boggy & technical bits on a trail run - there's nothing like feeling you've had a good day out when you cover ground like this!
Never been to Forest of Bowlands which is quite shocking for me. Looks like i would like that race from this video. Just penciled it in my diary for next year if i have nothing else planned. Not a bad price for the race also which i just checked. I did laugh that you got nabbed for a kit check 😆.
It’s a great start to the year with a good mixture of surfaces making it a relatively quick race. I reckon it would suit you perfectly. As for the kit check it was what? You want me to empty my pack again? 😂 Seriously though, it’s good that there was a big emphasis on safety. It’s a lovely area just waiting to be explored in more depth.
Hi Paula, we chose our Inov8 Trailfly G280’s. Reasons being longish sections of road and hard packed tracks. The choice paid off perfectly as they managed well over the boggy bits too. Needed to ensure we had comfort for the distance.
Thank you! Vests are Montane Featherlite Gillets and are just wind proof without insulation, worn on top of a single layer (Montane Dragon). The combo worked very well keeping us warm for the duration 👍
Hi Olga, thank you very much. It’s a lovely route isn’t it and such a nice area. This was the first version of this event and not sure if Ellis had any input into the route. bowlandultra.co.uk
It was a great event wasn't it?! Although we came down from Fiendsdale Head in the dark so our experience was a bit different from different from yours!
Thank you, it was a great event. I guess the technical descent in the dark would have been a little more difficult though we absolutely loved that section. Well done on your finish 💪
Quick question, I see you both use poles, are they the glove type? Or strap type? And what make or model? Do you have a preference? Given your running backgrounds and the type and length of races you do I thought you would be good to ask, respect ✊ to you both you are doing some great runs as a team 👏👏
Hi Ian! We use Leki Ultratrail FX One Superlights (quite the mouthful!) These have the shark grip and glove which really is a good system as you can ease off your grip knowing the pole is always there. Really easy to attach and detach for the likes of stiles etc. We also use the poles without the glove at times. We’ve had other Leki poles with a loop which I never really got on with so didn’t really use that feature much. Hope this helps and thank you 👍
@@TrailRunningCouple thanks for the info 👍 really helpful! I am doing some Nordic walking with poles with a glove, ( borrowed) but not run with them, have run with loops , but can’t decide which I like best!! As need to purchase a nice lightweight carbon pair, mine are aluminium Leki Makalus, a bit heavy for running 😂😂 Mmmmm! Will look at yours ,your shared experience really helpful. Will let you know what I decide😂 Best of luck on your next adventure, I look forward to seeing the video 👍👍👍 best wishes to you both 😊
@@ianbooth369 Thanks Ian. They’re very light indeed and great for races. The shark glove really is a nice addition though I did wonder at first. In practice it works extremely well. Best of luck with your training 👍
It’s a great event. It was the first time they held it this past year. It’s been changed a little for next year to include a little less road which is a big bonus! You’ll love it 👍
@@TrailRunningCouple hahaha knew it! Great vid guys, getting pumped for it. Furthest I’ve gone is 30 mile with 1km gain, maybe see you there! Less road sounds great haha
Well done Gary , Cheryl yet another great race 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you, enjoyed that one 👍
Well done for the first ultra of the year team!
Thank you! Tough start but got it done!
Well done to both of you I can see that you both enjoyed that - thanks for taking us along with you
Thank you, it was a great day out and a fantastic event to get 2024 going 😊

The freedom to be able to run....

Great effort you two. Best wishes on your adventures in 2024. Good luck.
Thank you, appreciate it. All the best and good luck for you adventures this coming year 👍
Only visited Bowland once and that was for bouldering rather than running this clip makes me wanna go back there. Cheers!

Well done! Very impressive. Lovely run; lovely video. Just out the door myself for another loop. Thank you for the video. 👍
Tough day out, I think the hard surfaces of the roads and tracks took their toll! Thanks very much 😊

Thanks Martin, really enjoyed it. A great start to the year 👍
Looks like a great route, perhaps rather too much tarmac. Well done to both of you. Here's to more great videos in 2024. Thank you
It caused a few niggles but still enjoyed the route. Great start to the year. Thank you 👍
Nice one guys, great to see this edit. Do come back and get on the fells, you want regret it.
Thanks Mark, lots more areas to explore in Bowland, that’s for sure. We’ll be back again soon enough. Once again, great time and fantastic running 👍
Well done guys .
Thank you Ken 👍
What a fab route! Looks like you had an amazing time on this one

Definitely coming back. Lots of interesting tops and rugged moorland to explore. Still liking the sound of the Bowland 1500’s…
Great running both of you. Nice to see plenty of familiar faces from Lonsdale Fell Runners, both running & volunteering.
Loved the day and talked to so many friendly people. Great local event. Thank you 👍

Well done guys, great to see you on. Fantastic capture of the day 👍
Thanks Alex, great to see you and well done on your time. Brilliant running 👍
When will we see you guys down here on the Arc of Attrition??
Some fantastic trails and scenery.
It’s a race we would love to enter one day. Looks right up our street 👍

Another great route by the looks!
See you both had an extra vest on this time. Was that insulated or just windproof? Wheres it from?
Thank you!

This is so cool. All my favourite places. Is this ultra new? Who made it up, Ellis? Or was it around for a while. I never knew about it.
