Have you guy's ever thought of doing the Lyke Wake Walk route..?(40 miles across the North York Moors).Starting at Osmotherley & finishing at Ravenscar with around 5000ft of ascent & a lot of history along the route (would be a great summer run) with The Lion Inn at around the half way point for refreshments.Although you would probably need two cars or a taxi back to Osmotherley from Ravenscar👍
It was lovely out. Cold at first but warmed up a little. Quite busy on the ridge which wasn’t a surprise. Got the tattoos not long after Lakeland last year. Had to be done!
@TrailRunningCouple I saw your tattoo Gary, first time I have seen yours Cheryl. Need to work out if you have both matching legs now! 😁. I did post on your last run of the new year but I think I pressed on the next video too fast and it never got posted. I was near you at Christmas but not been feeling too well lately. Anyway, as always love the videos. I don't know how you keep motivated. That's a massive achievement in itself.👊
Yes, have matching legs 😂 I think motivation comes from each other so I guess that makes it easier than if you’re running on your own. We’re pretty lucky in that way I think. Definitely have to catch up as some point if you’re back up this end 👍
Thank you so much Tommy, that’s lovely of you to say. Really glad you like the videos and its comments like that which encourage us to carry on with the GoPro 🎥👍
That climb up from Twitchill Farm is indeed horrendous 🤣 Great route! I'm looking to have a crack at it at some point in the summer. Done most of it as parts of other runs so it'll be nice to put it together.
Thanks for the the 2024 race calendar update both, I believe the Fellsman is its 60th edition so that should be something to savour. As for the Apocalypse, that takes place on where I do my Lakeland training in and around the Shropshire Hills, a real mix of terrain, right up your street, you should have a great time.
Thank you, yes, saw the Fellsman was the 60th edition so rather special. A good year to enter! As for the Shropshire hills - they will be a first. We have a couple of friends that like to go up the Wrekin though I don’t think it’s on this route. Was hoping it was though. Thanks again 👍
The Wrekin is lovely but you've got some awesome hits within the Long Mynd area where the race will be, Caer Caradoc HillFort is a favourite and a great climb, nothing like Black Sail!! but it'll get the lungs working, for what its worth under foot will be a mixture of stony paths and also some very slick / wet & muddy grass areas if that helps at all👍@@TrailRunningCouple
Thanks Jon, that helps a lot. Really looking forward to it though we’ll have to make an alternative effort to visit the Wrekin and its surrounding trails 👍
Thanks, I need to get a quiver for my pack as I can't stand carrying them in my hand, I've only used them a few times but hoping to get into The Lap this Year. I did it May last year but talked myself into bailing out coming down Loughrigg into Ambleside. Have a few trail runs planned up until then, Snowdon and Y3P plus others.
A quiver makes carrying poles so much easier, you’ll wonder why you didn’t get one ages ago! As for the Lap, it’s a great race, we’ve done it in both directions. The 3 Peaks is something we also know very well having done the route many times. It’s a great go-to route and can be used as training for pretty much any ultra. Snowdonia is also one of our favourite places, so many options there but the terrain can be very challenging! Keep up the good work and I’m sure you’ll smash The Lap 💥 🤛
Great video as always, I’m attempting the route next week. How did you go on with water on the route, how much did you take and was there anywhere on route to pick k up fluid? Thanks in advance 👍🏻
Cracking route as usual, tough, and a lot of people up there! It must be murder in summer! It wasn’t as busy round there in the 60s when I lived near there 😂 You have planned a tough year ahead, but nice to see some great events planned, way beyond me these days but still love to see your videos of your adventures, well done again 👏👏
Thanks Ian. Some great trails in the Peak District, especially the Dark Peak. You’re right though, lots of people on the ridge in summer which can make running a little difficult but we all have a right to be there I guess! Need to carry a bike bell 😂 Thanks again for watching, really appreciate it along with your comments 👍
@@TrailRunningCouple spent many happy days round the Peak, cycling, running, climbing and of course walking, favourite places are the edges Froggat etc but love Kinder. Living in Burnham on Sea in Somerset don’t get up there very often, but we have Exmoor, Dartmoor , Mendips and of course Quantocks 😊😊
Kinder is a lovely place to run or hike, so many options of ascents and descents. Definitely a favourite of ours. I feel like we’re missing out as we’ve yet to run in any of the places you mention in and around Somerset. It’s lovely down there though only ever been with work.
Planning to do this route in the next couple of months - my trail run on Friday from Edale to Hathersage took me up Win Hill - sadly not such good views as you had, too much clag!
Hi James, not as such. We washed our packs after the Goat and haven’t put the quiver back on. Many times they’re there but not used. They usually only come out for either long events or something seriously hilly. We do try and do the shorter stuff without even if it is hilly. Thanks 👍
What day did you guys take it on? I did it on the 3rd this year. Ground was annihilated and I completely misjudged my shoes which made it hard going. Legs fell off at the twitchill barns ascent and poles had to come out. that footbridge into the boggy field was underwater so I had to use the nearby lane. Really enjoyed it but tempted to run it in the other direction to be honest. The first 8 miles were an uphill grind.
We did it last Saturday, 6th Jan. glad to have seen some of the water drain in that case, sounds pretty bad when you did it! It’s a great route though, well apart from the ascent to Win Hill from Twitchill Farm - that’s tough! It’s the second time we’ve done it though couldn’t get near our time on this outing. Well done on your round 👍
When I did this in October last year the ascent out of Bradwell was diverted round the quarry as one of the fields had a sinkhole. Was that still the case when you did it? As I’m doing it again this weekend. Great video , some different sights from the summer run you did of it.
Hi, sorry for the late reply! The route we followed was pretty much as per the GPX. I wasn’t aware of any diversions made apart from maybe the odd wrong turn!! 😂 Did you manage to do it? How was it? 👍
@@TrailRunningCouple it was fantastic. Gorgeous weather with a nice breeze. The field with the sinkhole was actually open so that was alright. We took a few wrong turns following the gpx route but they were soon noticed. 5 hours 4 mins in total. That’s over 2 hours quicker than last time but I was only using the route map and was solo then (tons more wrong turns that time, I did 22 miles that day!! 😩)
Sounds like a great day out, well done! It’s easy to make the odd mistake, I think we’ve done both times we’ve done that route 😂 Also congrats on doing it much quicker too 👍
Haha! We started off January with a run every day plan. We said keep the numbers sensible so we would get to the end of the month in one piece. Then we’re reminded (totally forgot) of the Ultra which still had places so booked on it last Sunday. Should be an interesting month as it’s a wonder if we even have 42 miles in our legs at the moment!! Thank you 👍
Glad it’s not just me who has a love hate relationship with the twitch hill farm ascent 😂 great running as always guys
Haha, tough little ascent isn’t it? 😂 Thank you, appreciate it 👍
Beautiful day! Except the mud. Good luck next weekend.
Thank you so much, I thought we had got away with the mud until the final two miles which were mostly mud! 😂
Cracking day for it can't get much better 👍. Looks fantastic route great views. As always thanks for your video much appreciated
Thanks Martin. Landed lucky with this weekend. That said, I bet the Lakes had similar weather. Would have been some great inversions!
So beautiful route for your running, amazing place and love sheep❤you did awesome job👍👍Happy weekend and best wishes for your wonderful 2024🎉🎊🎉🤗🤗
Thank you so much, all the best for 2024 to you too 🥳
Great route. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks Steve, the weather helped make it!

Thank you, not heard of that but will take a look. Always difficult with point to points but not impossible. Sounds like a good day out 👍
Great day for it, a lovely looking route. Good luck next week team!
Really enjoyed the day, as for next weekend I reckon we’ll need all the luck we can get! Thanks so much 👍
Surprisingly quite mild up at the top of Mam tor, Lose hill and Win hill. That wont last long! Nice video. Well done guys. Nice tattoo Cheryl 😉

Better weather than when I did it in July!
It can be hit and miss! 😂 We first did this round in May and it was glorious ☀️
Happy new year. Good luck with all the races.
Thank you, all the best for 2024 🥳
Cracking day for it 🌞
It certainly was, would have been rude not too! Thanks 👍

Yes I've seen your Vlogs on the Lap. I've also seen your Y3P vids too. Was it twice of three times around in a day ?
Done many singles, a double and yes a triple in 19hrs something. That was a tough one!
@@TrailRunningCouple yea that's the one I saw when I was prepping for it. Epic running.
Great video as always, I’m attempting the route next week. How did you go on with water on the route, how much did you take and was there anywhere on route to pick k up fluid? Thanks in advance 👍🏻
I did this route last week. I couldn't agree more, the climb out of Twitchill Farm is just the absolute worst!!!
Isn’t it just?? It’s such a relief to hit the track leading to Win Hill. Brilliant route though 👍

Oh shit,we got a 42 mile ultra next week!😮.. lol 😂
We forgot.
Can't imagine what that's like....
Haha, forgot about the event so entered it last Sunday! Who needs prep?? 😂
I've noticed the last couple of runs, you've not been carrying your poles. Do you have a set distance at which you start carrying them. Thanks.
