  • A lot of small to medium-sized security guard companies see the large national firms and the low bidders as their competition. This is why they're wrong.

    I'm glad I found this channel ( albeit late),but as a supervisor for a multi national my company charges roughly $27 an hour for an $18 per hour security team leader. You did a great job on this video and the information within, hopefully these figures can help anyone else watching this.

    All those large companies charge a crazy high rate to the client and pay there employees the bare minimum. The employee turnover rate is huge because they give the client a homeless looking security guard.

    I worked for Securitas, G4S, and two small security companies that are long gone.
    Securitas is the worse. Wanted clean-shaven males, guards had to pay to hem their pants, work 16 hours, barely a day off, all for $8.25/hr. If you worked at multiple sites you got pro-rated. An example is, you work one site for $9/hr, then another site for $11/hr, you were paid $10/hr.
    I see what you meant by bottom-feeders. After leaving contract security all together, a local company out of Nebraska was looking for candidates for their expansion into the midwest. The pay was $12/hr. I have 14 years of military service, was a state prison guard for two years, a sworn police officer for a year and worked at Brinks for two years. They were adamant about me joining their company and leaving my $29/hr govt auto mechanic job. When I refused due to low pay, they said I was entitled.
    Now, when I see any security guards in the city I live in, they look like they dragged a homeless person off the street and put them in a uniform.

      Hi Anita W, yes I think it’s the nature of all businesses. As buyers get more informed the way that they buy will change as well. What do you think the biggest change is?

    • @anitaw6313
      @anitaw6313 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OfficerReports.com .In the days when I began quotes were a number for hourly rate per guard . Different security programs were different charges . Stationeries being the most expensive. It was one number for each type of service. Now I get questioned about how much for insurance, what am I paying my guard , what is my margin ? It’s like I have to show my work like we did in school math class. Also services have changed . I get calls from very frustrated businesses who use a global company but they stay with the company because they use their software for employees badges and clock ins . So they guard may be awful but his company has taken some human resource duties and he had job security.

      I would not set up a new firm in metro Orlando, central FL. I'd say 60-70% are "bottom feeders". These are jokers who cant maintain payroll, cant buy or maintain vehicle fleets; duty vehicles. They get security contracts then lose them in 60-90 days.

    Hi Courtney,
    Mark Grove here.
    Before I ask you a few questions,just letting you know it was my boss--the owner of the security company called Star Security here in London,Ontario who stated us using the Officer Reports App.
    I love it for daily activities reporting,incidents and even maintenance reports!
    Okay,since your yime is limited I will ask only two questions based on the video you gave on why smaller companies providing guard services should not try to compete for the same contracts as the national security companies.
    Mark Grove: If you own a small security company of say 5 guards at most,and only provide guard services ----- Message truncated -----

  • @guidofeliz8384

    I scheduled a phone interview with Allied Universal. NO ONE CALLED. The recruiter or manager assigned to interview me for a nice site that pays $20 an hour wasted my time applying online.
    I need a security guard job desperately. Falling behind with all my bills. I am former Navy and cannot get a job in NY, a state that favors illegal aliens over legal citizens.
    Thank God I have some cash put aside for a rainy day.
    QUESTION
    Why would Allied schedule a phone interview and then never call? I feel that the interviewer does not care as long as he or she has an income. It's not a good impression, honestly.

    • @eddiemurdakhayev1392
      @eddiemurdakhayev1392 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Billable hours for the week, these are small contracts that don't really get the attention from companies like G4S, Securitas, etc.. and even if a site that has 128 hours a week is covered by a vendor like Allied, the chances are the service is terrible because a security company of that size doesn't really put much effort into keeping a site with 128 hours.

    I run a security business and i pay my guys 1099 . Would you recommend W2s or 1099 and whats the difference?

    • @Officerreports
      @Officerreports  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question Martin Nihad! 1099's security guard are not allowed in most states in the US. 1099's essentially means that the officers are contractors and not employees. In most states security companies have to be licensed and security officers don't have security companies licenses so they can't be 1099's. If the department of labor or IRS does an audit and finds that they are employees and not 1099 contractors, you're looking at a HUGE tax bill which you could be PERSONALLY liable for. Talk to your accountant/attorney ASAP.

      Great question Melody Jackson. I actually think that people, in general, should be of good character and have integrity. Whether they are security officers, security guard company owners, or the people sitting in the thousands of board rooms across the globe. We ALL have to be good people who are always trying to get better! I hope that answered your question.
