Thank you for continuing to do reviews on affordable lens. The comparison with the pergear was very informative and easy to understand and I did like the Meike image better. A while back I did get the TTArtisan 35mm based on your review and I have been enjoying using it for things that don't move LOL. I want to get a 16-17mm manual lens.
I recently just bought an a6000 for my first camera, and then found your channel after and have binged so many of your videos. With your help of your videos and reviews, you’re helping me decide on which lenses I should expand to! I just want to say thank you for all of the content you’ve created over the years, it really has helped me learn and narrow down on what lenses I’ll buy.
Just found out you stopped making videos right when I started watching! You convinced me to pick up the 35mm f1.8 OSS for my a6000 that I just found lying around in a drawer thanks
I have the mft mount of this, with my Oly em10 iv, and absolutely love it. Slightly less vignetting due to the crop factor and it's been great as a 50mm equivalent. I've been getting a lot of fun use out of it with my kid at the playground. A little zone focusing at f4 makes for quick adjustments in a reasonably deep area around playground equipment. For that kind of snapshot, I'm greatly enjoying the "keep warm tone" setting on the auto white balance and a 1/4 "black mist" style diffusion filter. Nothing too strong, but it plays nice with the snapshot style and the already slightly warm tone of the lens. From what I've heard about the pergear, I'm glad I have this lens overall and like the flexibility of a simple filter with it.
dude this lens i use as my second one, next to my 55-210, the sharpest aperture is probably 5.6 imo, but the f2.8 part is honestly not bad at all it came on my a6000 instead of the kit lens, is it sharper though?
On some aperture settings on some focal lengths the kitlens is probably sharper. It's just that if you stray from f5,6-f8 and shoot at wider than 18mm or longer than 40 mm it gets softer, first in the corners, later also more towards the middle. Especially at 16mm it's not that great sadly. This is the benefit of a prime, the one focal length you have generally is pretty good and even at lower F stops it's pretty good. At this price point not all primes perform amazingly, but this is a pretty good one.
I had the Meike for some time, it was a good lens! There's sharper out there of course, but it's a totally usable lens. I actually expected a bit more vintageness based on some reviews, and after your comparison it dawned on me that the coatings are a part of what makes it feel relatively modern to me. I was kind of hoping for a 'worse' lens. So now I just ordered myself one of those Fujian (aka Fotasy?) 35mm f1.7 cctv lenses. That should get me some serious vintage vibe.
@@kyletaggart Oh yeah that's right, I did just see that '3 lenses under 100' video where you also showed it, but I've seen that first review too way back. By the way, any chance you'll be having a look at the TT Artisans 17mm f1.4? Seems like a very interesting lens for street, architecture and night photography.
I need this. Love my 50mm but sometimes rooms I am in are a little too small or crowded to move back enough to use. Ya know, if I had a foot more space that would have been a great shot sort of thing. lol Have you done a video on a less expensive 1.8 or 2.8 tele lens (100mm or 200mm) that's manual focus?
Hey just found your channel because I'm gonna buy an a6000 soon, and I love your reviews and tips! how much RAWs do you think a 128GB card could hold on the a6000 please?
Completely depends on the user. Could be 200 shots could be 600. There are screen brightness, screen sleep settings, airplane mode, etc, that can make your battery last a while. I use airplane mode, I use brightest screen settings, and I’m never keeping it on longer than I need - and I get probably 300-400 shots. I recommend everyone - for any smaller camera, to get two extra batteries and a dual charger. They’re super cheap and are life savers.
Hi Kyle. Thanks for the video. I have the Pergear 7.5mm f2. 8 fisheye lens which takes cool photos and has excellent build quality. Since I bought the new Sigma zoom all my other lenses are on the back burner but I will get back to them.
The sigmaaaa zoom! I just got my own as well. I have the Pergear 12mm, I have one more manual lens review coming. Lenses lenses lenses. But! I have some ideas for some outside the box videos for this channel. 😊
Hey Marc. I got a little overburdened with doing reviews on lenses sent, had anxiety, and overall felt a lot of pressure. Add in some personal difficulties, and then focusing on my day job, I just had to step back. I think about making videos a lot, and hope you’ll be there if I post a new video some time in the future! Thanks for asking and watching my videos. 😄
@@kyletaggart in totally get it! i actually had to take a mental health break this weekend from photography (taking a break until the obsession ends). i was addicted to buying lenses. also, i was putting a lot of pressure on myself to keep one-upping my previous work.
Question whenever I go in movie mode after pressing recording button it take about 20 sec delay before it start recording. How do I change it back when I press the recording button and Sony starts recording immediately?
Hello , Hello I just found your channel, a treasure for People who looking to learn more and have more knowledge so for me it really helped me and now i start taking pictures but i only have an mobile however whenever i want to transfer the images from my a6000 to phone i cant transfer Raw Photos only jpeg wich is Kinda bad because i shot Raw for a reason
Yep, wifi will convert the raw to jpg. Just a limitation of that feature. You’d have to use an SD card adapter for your phone. Very handy little things. I have one for iPhone (SD to lightning), I’m sure they make them for Android as well.
Cheaper than the Meike? Or cheap I’m general? For auto focus lenses the Viltrox lenses are usually cheaper than Sony and sigma. For manual focus, checkout Pergear, Meike, and TTArtisan. 👍🏻
hello sir. my name is denis. I come from Indonesia. I'm a Sony a6400 camera user. I want to ask sir. give 1 best lens, in my opinion sir personally for me. because I need a good lens for photosoot with good sharpness and quality.
Nope lol. Not a bad guess. Overall, anxiety, my dog passed in 2022, and a shift in priorities for work. I think about coming back all the time, but every time I do, something else kind of takes priority. I feel like I will come back eventually, just not sure when that will be. Thanks for watching and commenting! Makes my day when I see comments still.

After almost 4 years of wanting an A6000 I finally got one and now I'm hoping to pick up the Meike 35mm f1.7 in a couple weeks from now
Oh sick!!

I think so, yes, I was getting sharp results even at f1.8. Manual lenses are quite the task sometimes though.
@@kyletaggart agreed yeah, once you get the settings down and other lens functions, then it becomes an addiction :D

The first manual lens review I ever did was the Fotasy 35mm f1.7. It feels very vintage image quality wise. (and build wise)

Nothing for the 17mm f1.4, I did a review on the 12mm f2 and it was great. Weird but nice and fun!
Sweet little lens and only 75 bucks. Great to see you again Kyle. Happy Sunday to you!
Tha is Brian, it’s fun to review this stuff that isn’t hundreds or thousands of bucks sometimes! Happy Sunday!

I have not. Sorry missed this comment. I do want to try more meike lenses though! Maybe a different focal length

Not a bad lens but let down by the aperture ring which should be a lot tighter - too easy to move!!
