It may be a cheap lens but the photo of you and your wife +the kids is terrific. Kudos to whoever took that photo.
I can recommend the Samyang 85mm 1.4 (2nd gen). Quality, autofocus and sharpness are flawless. Colours are a little warmer (but nothing that bothers me). For around $400 (only know the Euro prices) it's actually the only affordable option. The Sigma costs twice as much and is extremely large and heavy. The Sony GM is in a completely different league in terms of price.
Yungnuo is 85mm f1.8 is the sharpest 85mm lens and made it to the third position in overall function
@@MrFaccts I think imo, Viltrox T1.5 is better
Sigma 85 1.4 dg dn the second version isn't heavy and large maybe you are confused with the 1st version .
@@NAM3L3555 I was already thinking about the 2nd version. But the Sigma is actually shorter than I remember. Nevertheless, it is 116g heavier. And it's almost twice the price. Maybe the Sigma is a bit sharper in the corners or the autofocus is a bit faster. Neither of which is important to me for portraits. So I saw no reason for the Sigma.
@@supermanlovers well you have to try better af no noise also sharper in the centre than the GM but the 85 gm have better sharpeness in corners.
The way my jaw dropped at the aperture cycle sound😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
The aperture click sounds as though one is winding up a child's toy! The images looks OK! Think I hold on to Zeiss Batis 85mm a bit longer. Fantastic work as usual, AR.
Don't sleep on this lens people. Meike coming up too. I remember when Neewer came out people talked mess... now these droppin bangers, not Viltrox... Meike on the come up too! The outside is cheap but inside is actually quality. Glass is great! Edited because I forgot ...UPDATE THE FIRMWARE! They got two firmware updates for correcting the focus and focus reset.
Great to have you back arthur!
Quick question, as you are remodeling your studio, so you also plan to make other types of content different than product reviews? Maybe news, tutorials, tips... I would like to see more
Thats a great idea! Ill consider it.
I heard meike's final production version has been updated to a greater level, working flawlessly. If so, I will grab one for myself.
i like the colour when you took landscape pics but for the skintone, i think this lens produce some weird colour. I think i need to reconsider to buy old samyang 85mm. Very much thank you AR
I'd wait for the Viltrox 85mm 1.4 "Lab" series that might be announced by December.
Lens may be just ok but your family is looking great. 😊
Thank you!
Shoulda stuck around Oregon a little longer. We have the first set of King Tides coming through this weekend. You would have enjoyed getting shots of those waves! Your review of the 1.8 version was spot on and I bought it knowing exactly what I was getting. Think i'll pass on this one.
Truthfully anyone considering this lens should just buy the Sony FE 85mm f1.8, that lens is amazing for the price.
Yes
Which one is better when you compared to Sony FE 85 mm 1.8?
Being a Nikon user I am waiting on a good 85mm 1.4. Hopefully soon.
Am I right in thinking this is the only 85f1.4 available in Z mount
since it will come out for Sony E, Nikon Z, and Canon RF, maybe the first native 85mm f1.4 af for Nikon Z and Canon RF
Probably better is Yongnuo 85-1.8?)
Do you review the sirui lenses for aps-c? I think this lenses will be great!
Yes, review coming!
@@ArthurR thanks, i'm hyped 🤞🏻
That shiny nose at the end of the lens really makes it look ugly and cheap. Why is it shiny?
A bit of a strange design choice.
Probably less friction and ware on the lens hood? Does look odd though I think I’ll paint mine matte when I get it
I love your videos! Thx
Its like if you found a 72mm sony TV lens, weights like 2 pounds, solid glass. Then they said, this is for time travelers going into the past. So, they wasn't there to help for whatever reason, and you got a bunch of adapters and used the rubber lens hood, actually get a size bigger because it knows how to fight.
Does it work for APSC sony?
Can I use this lens to Canon M50 with a Meike drop in filter ?
Thanks for the review. Christopher Frost tested this lens as having practically no linear distortion, which is cool. This lens is overpriced, and if it were around $350 I’d consider it.
@ArthurR, how is your experience with the AF, now that I has received som firmware updates?
I spy the one of the new SIRUI APS-C lenses! 5:35
Hello, please tell me, did the firmware update change the situation? Owners of Nikon cameras (z5, z6) say that tracking autofocus works for them.
I am also interested
RF Version?? Available??
How does it compare with the Samyang 85 f/1.4 ?
I dont believe ive tried the AF version of the Samyang yet.
@ArthurR, which firmware where you using?
🎉
new lens ttartisan 35mm f1.8 next review, please
Sounds to me like it was not ready for beta release, never mind end users.
The footage before your trip
Nó vs 85 Samyang thì sao ạ
😮😮😮
470usd?! that's the price of a used samyang 85 1.4 v1
There is a green ting that I'm not feeling.
Can't understand why anyone would buy one of these. Find a used Sigma 85mm ART lens for roughly the same price and get a much higher quality lens. I can grasp why people buy very cheap Chinese glass but once you're approaching $500 USD for a lens I just don't get it.
Canon is cunning, and it doesn’t allow Viltrox, which is by now the most competitive third party lense manufacturer from China, to build RF lense. It wants to eliminate any potential threat to its own overpriced lenses.
you guys in the pictures are great, but the lens quality is a nightmare.
nothing about how AF is working with this lens in this video...😒
The Chinese love to make images look how they think other Chinese people find more attractive. Huawei does the same thing with the software in their phones. This would drive me bonkers with a lens.
th-cam.com/video/KwpXNIq7kA8/w-d-xo.html the new version is from metal body
Your footage looks very very bad are you using a cell phone
