The quirk you're describing is field curvature, an aberration where the plane of focus is not flat but curved like a sphere, so closer objects near the corners of the image can be in focus even through the centre is further away.
No barrell distortion relates to how the image can look distorted, i.e. Straight lens can 'barrell' inwards.if you shoot in RAW you can correct in post processing. Field curvature means that if you focus on the centre, the edges might not be in focus... However in these instances if you focus on the corner, that would become sharper at the detriment to the opposite side and/or centre (more likely at wider apertures) @@to6616
Meike and Neewer have some CCTV lenses and it looks like they built this model based on one those CCTV optics. They made some kind of improvements/corrections, but it still suffers from heavy field curvature. That's why corners are so soft.
I too have 2 of the 22's and I like that lens and used them, at one ongoing project, for all the shots. I come from film background and still in a quandry with digital but getting better. I decided to try the Meike lens after a lot of thinking about what I wanted to do and finally, today, decided to buy one directly from Meke in China. I want to use this on my m50's and I hoped you would discuss the proper use of that lens on the m50's; and to learn some tricks of the m50 using an all manual lens. When you said "I focused on this, I think..." Doesn't m50 have peaking, to know the areas you are focusing? Interesting vid.
Thanks for this review! I was actually considering getting the Meike to try it out, even though I already have the 22mm f/2, but you saved me that purchase. I was also wondering about buying the 7artisans 55 mm F1.4 or the Kamlan 50 mm F1.1. Do you happen to have any experiences with those lenses?
I recommend kamlan 50mm 1.1 if you haven’t bought one already. It gives really good looking photos with beautiful bokeh. Rokinon 80mm is also a recommendation
@@zenstreet8844 I did and I really liked it! Made for some unique shots, for sure. But I recently sold all my M50 stuff and moved to an R6 Mark II. The Kamlan 50mm left a big enough impression that the second lens I bought for the R6II was the EF-Mount Sigma Art 85mm f/1.4 and I LOVE it!
Hello 👋🏻 Well I am looking forward to buy NINJA V. But before that I got few questions in my head. 1- I got canon M-50 MARK 2 ,so is it compatible with Ninja V 2- My only reason to my NINJA V is because I wanna record 1 hour video @1080@60 with M50 MARK 2, So it that possible to continuously record for 1 hour. PLEASE DO ANSWER ME TO THIS.
Hi Man. I would like to invite you to a 10 minutes interview to talk about sound, light, and video for teachers who want to record lessons. Is that alright with you?

Is that the "barrel distortion" factor?

Love this lens specially at 1.8f the “quirkiness” gives the photo a unique vintage look mixed with fujifilm film simulations
Agreed 💯🤝🏻

same I love my manual 85mm and both dials on the m6 mk ii for being out photography but video always auto focus!

Nice review, thanks. Fully agree, not for client work, but very usable for creative photogaphy imo.
So helpful as always - thank you sir 🙏🏻🤟
Can I ask when you show the camera, it said a F00. Is this just how it is normally??
That's because it's a fully manual lens. There's no electronic communication with the camera. You set the aperture using the ring on the lens.
@@JorisHermans thanks so much this helps!!!!
How did you fix the F00?
Is this ok for video?
I have Meike 35mm F1.4 and it's brilliant. Looks like you have no experience working with manual lens.
😅
It looks like you don’t understand field curvature.
👍good video
Sweet!
Thanks!

Lol nice try Joris, using "quirky" to describe the blunders of the lens. 😂 thanks for the review
🤷🏻♂️😅
Save the money and buy the 22mm 2.0 lens. 500€ Kamera 75€ objektiv feels wrong to me :D
Dream
lol
This lens is meh? 🤣
The focus and aperture rings should be tighter - too easy to move by mistake!!
