I have my iPhone for nearly 6 years now. For first 3 years I had nearly non stop case and screen protector. Since I had it for 3 years, I went mostly caseless and without screen protector. I love it and don’t drop it. Love the caseless feel of it.

I've pretty much always used the Apple leather case on my iPhones. Since they stopped making them with the 15, I switched back and forth between the Apple silicone case and an ESR clear case. I never really got comfortable with either one, and the silicone case is a dust magnet. So for the past few weeks I've been going careless on my 15 Pro and using my MagSafe wallet. it's been great, and the wallet give just enough of a barrier when placing it on a table. iPhone 13 Pro user here. After 2.5 years no scratches either on display or back, except few tiny oleophobic ones like seen on yours. Until today when i finally managed to drop it from my hard on hard surface, a long thin scratch going from top to bottom:) But being caseless can be done. Just like Zollotech doesn't have a case for his everyday iPhone, saying heat retention and other things long-term affect it. Key: I always wear the phone in the pocket where i have nothing else solid, i always wear my keys and other smaller objects in left pocket, and my Iphone in the right pocket. People wear their phones together with other crap, this is the most common scratch creating environment after a while.
Ive been using iphone 14 plus model without a case and protective film for almost 1 year. It might sound a little cringed, I can feel the texture that apples designers want to give us. If you guys can allow a bit of scratches, i can highly recommand using iphone without case. Don’t be too obsessed with the material.
Every few weeks or so, I take my 15 pro out of its case to clean them, and sometimes I like to leave it out for the weekend. I don’t trust myself not to drop it forever, but I honestly love the feel of a naked iPhone, especially this one, so it’s like a little treat for me
Non iPhone user here, my galaxy s24 was only 800, but the anxiety is real going caseless. I use a case 99% of the time except for a random weekend I'll take the case off.
I never used a cases and that's why: 1. I use iPhone until it works well (even the battery could be replaced at a service) or until I really need some new features. That is, I don't plan to sell it every next year and because of that I don't need to pray on it to look perfect. 2. I like to use iPhone directly, not use something under the case and protective film. It's a tool, not a cult, so use it, not pray on it.
I actually wound up going with a minimalist case that’s more like a bumper. And it has been really freezing. I can enjoy the look and feel of my phone without having to worry as much about the dings and drops. It’s like the best of both worlds.
I’ve been really enjoying my pitaka case! It’s like a half-naked, a swim suit if you will 😂 Adds grip and “set down” insurance, with almost no added bulk even if not much drop protection. leaves the buttons exposed and most importantly the bottom edge for swiping. It’s a great compromise!
Also, I LOVE my flolab screen protector. It reduces glare and reflections a LOT, not as much as matte but very close, but keeps the inky black contrast and colors of glossy. Check it out before going back to matte, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I’ve rocked an iPhone XS , 13 Pro, and now 16 Pro naked because I love both the form & function of their design. I’ve dropped the 13 Pro many times and it was still in such good shape that I got full value selling it back to Apple when I purchased my new (naked) white 16 Pro. I did order a screen protector this time!
a friend of mine has the iphone 13 pro max and uses it without a case since 2 years and it still looks almost brand new no cracks no dinks nothing maybe a few micro scratches on the screen and he goes downhill biking and other extreme sports you should just handle your device like its worth something
I stopped using cases years ago. The Rockwell hardness required to scratch glass isn't in materials in houses or cars. I keep my phone in one pocket and anything else I need to carry in the other. I never broke a phone or even got scratches on my devices.
I'm using my 15 pro without case since last 3 months, got few scratches and 1 very small scuff after dropping it. It stays cool, feels awesome to use. It's worth it, using it like a tool. FYI I have a screen protector, so no compromise there.
How is your phone now after many more months in terms of scratches on the screen? I had a nocase/protector iphone xr for 6 years but it finally broke (internal hardware). I'm wondering if i should get a screen protector for the 16pro
I did just used a tempered glass for the front and the back and using my iPhone 15 pro max. I dropped the phone once on asphalt while I was sitting on my car and it landed flat on the ground. It left a small dent on the titanium frame like the one you showed on the vid but all the other places are ok. But still I didn’t like the dent as it reminds me how it might not hold another drop. And now the first thing I did after buying 16 pro max was to get a MagSafe case
At work I use a heavy duty case, but outside of work I go without a case but I do have a screen protector and I use the ANDAR leather MagSafe wallet on my 15 pro and it adds some added grip to prevent slipping. And it’s an amazing feeling getting to see the phone the way it was designed. Plus I have Apple care and it’s only 30 bucks to replace the back glass or front glass so I have less worry while rocking it without a case.
It’s what I have right now. I’m admiring my 15PM with its case off while watching this video but still have my leather MagSafe wallet on. It just feels right
I just got the iPhone 16 Pro and I really don't like the bulk that the case adds to is, plus you lose that fab thin bezel with a case on too. I'm going to try using it without a case /unless/ I am going somewhere where I think I might need that extra protection, and then I'll just slap it on and use the case (I'll keep it by the door). This way, I'll hopefully get best of both worlds! Thanks for the video.
since i bought the 15pro, i used the woven case and also tried the clear case, but since im in a tropical country, i generate tons of sweat so its irritating to use [used it around 3 months]. I now use it caseless, (i dropped it a LOT on hard floor and slips alot from my pocked when sitting) but it is still very good condition, there was some scratches on the top right but its not bad since i dont really use the edges anyway.
i think the material on the 15th does work better since i have once dropped my ipad 6thpr with the keyboard from a chair before and it made a huge dent on the right corner (no cracks and still works fine)
I rock an S24 Ultra and 16 Pro Max, both without screen protectors or cases. I haven't used a screen protector since 2020 with my BlackBerry Key2. Once I went to the S21 Ultra, no more of that. I have holster cases to hold them instead of my pocket, but that's it. As long as you're careful/not clumsy, it's no issue.
I had never dropped an iPhone, took the case off my iPhone SE. A month later it slipped out of an inner pocket on to concrete and the back glass broke. I got it fixed and a couple of weeks later it happened again. So the grippy case also prevent falls, in my ... case.
i always put the case and the glass protector the minute i got the new iphones each year, mainlky to be able to seel it like new and perfect . but i've noticed that since i spent most time at home, now i prefer to go caseless when at home, and just keep the screen protector , and slab a case when going out . but if i could i would prefer to use it naked , i enjoy the fact the iphone is lighter and thinner without a case also .
My biggest problem without a case is the lack of grip from the glass and smooth aluminum. My phone slips so easily out of my pocket... And also tried not using a screen protector with my 14 pro, 1 week later and there's a deep ~1cm scratch on a screen corner. No idea how this happened, but now no way to remove it. If it was a protector, just 5 bucks for a new one.
The front screen and sides of the iPhone 15 pro max scratch too easily. Just like you, my iPhone is never face down and only goes in my pocket and I have many fine scratches.
i just got an iphone 15 pro (black). i went caseless with my previous iphone 13 mini. which eventually got a couple scratches on the screen. so with my 15 pro i got a screen protector, but thats it. still caseless and its been about 2 weeks. just dont drop the phone and youll be fine.
Although I trust the crack resistant, they are very easy to scratch so I opt for screen protector. For case, I go caseless for a few month and dropped to rough surface twice, and the dent are noticable and make the phone lose value more
Hey my friend I on with you I always have case for my s23 ultra ! Going to have a matt black case and bookcases what do you think should I get screen protector and camera protector ?
The most I use is a skin on the back panel for grip. I hate bulky cases. Besides, I tend not to like attaching myself to things that I know can easily be replaced. It's a phone FFS, not a baby. To each their own though..
I went caseless on my Xiaomi 12 after I decided I don't care if I break it, because the USB-C port on that phone was worn out after less than 1 year. It only charges on 1 specific cable I have thats super short but has a connector thats probably out of spec big so it works for the loose connector. The phone feels amazing to actually use without a case, the frosted back is actually easy to hold on to and using gestures is easier too. I'm convinced most random $12 cades you could buy off of amazon probably only protects your phone in like 5/100 drops, the other 95 crack the screen regardless. Its either a real "dreadnought" case thats thick & ugly but actually will save your phone or nothing for me.
You left out one big important thing resale value‼️ I never got the logic behind all of these TH-camrs drooling over colors of the stupid phone. I’ve still got my 3GS from 2007 not a scratch on it and I can make it any color I want because I’ve always had it in a case. People spend over $1000 💵 for a freaking phone 📱 and use it without a screen protector and case. Would you buy a car with no front and rear bumpers⁉️🚘
Been using my iphone like this every day. iPhones can take tortures quite well actually, fell a couple of times, once on rough concrete from a height of 4 feet, just a tiny spec of scratch on the edge. No complain till now
I absolutely love the look and feel of my s24 ultra, especially the anti glare technology built directly in to the screen and once a screen protector is added it puts the glare right back in. I've never used a screen protector but I have used cases, but I refuse to dress this phone down because that's what it would be because it looks so great imo. If ever I do end up dropping it, then it'll be repaired since I do carry insurance.
I use the case when outside my house in ambients where I’m not used to. When at work sometimes I remove the case as I got familiar with the place where I am, but when walking on the streets the case stays 100% of the time.
I use these exact Mothca matte screen protectors on my devices currently. They’re very good! I’ve had one on my iPhone 13 mini for about 2.5 years and I haven’t had to change it yet.
One of the main reasons I use a case is because it has some traction so that you can lean the phone up against something when you want to watch content hands-free.
I wanna use the 15 without a case so so bad but after getting used to a case, it actually is hard to hold the phone without one however, this case was $50. It took a real beating honestly without this case my phone probably would be in very, very rough shape.
Hi! I have used the iphone 15 pro and iphone 14 pro max without a case for a few months, I bought them both new a few months ago. I only use screen protector glass. I used to put them in the case right away, now not, the 14 pro max with its stainless steel frame sits better and safer in the hand, it is safe to hold in the hand and in the pocket, the iphone 15 pro has a silkier, smoother frame and is not as secure in the hand, but the pro is smaller , than the max, and because of that, it's easier to hold the smaller one more securely in the hand and also in the pockets, and I don't want to put them in the case anymore, I have different ones, and they all feel sticky, greasier under the fingers, than pure metal and glass. It remains to be seen what will happen next, maybe for a longer hike or a similar longer walk, I might change the cases for them, I haven't put them on yet, because using natural metals and glass feels much better and cleaner than a plain case. Any kind of scratches and dents on the frames, I wouldn't mind, I think maybe they decorate the phone instead, but I don't like scratches on the glass, that's why I use screen protectors. Thank you!
Same! I’m using the 13 pro max since almost 2 years now and from the last two months I’ve gone caseless with screen protector. No I can never go back to a case!
Truth is no matter how good a company try to make protective phone. IT WILL SCRACTH AND CRACK. No matter how strong they advertise their material it. It will got scratch, it will crack. Either you are the type having to much money to not cared and buying new phone every 1-2 years. You should just put a case on it. Having a camera slide case is also better. because not matter how carefull u are u might crack a lens glass just because one time u become careless.
I got a small ding on the corner of mine. The natural titainium hides it well and it is a very small imperfection, but still... I like my phones in pristine condition. Not even if people don't notice the mark, I do and it kinda sucks. All case all the time from now on.
After using a case all my life I’m starting to think I may just go without a case but just use a screen protector since I have AppleCare + not for the fact I might damage the phone but mainly because I like the naked feel of an iPhone whilst having the full damage protection and theft protection.
I think the 15 Pro has the softest Glass on the market. Lots of people complain about display being scratched within days. Titanium is also softer than stainless steel.
I’m super skeptical about that because ever since I used a 12 and later iPhones the glass has had the least amount of micro scratches. Just look at a few of Jerryrig everything durability tests and you will notice significantly less scratches on a 12 and later iPhones and S24 ultra. Also there are just a few minor scratches on my 15 pro rail. Can’t say the same thing on my 12 pro which had so many noticeable micro scratches on the steel just from a few days caseless.
15PM is my first phone that I use without case. I’ve never broken any of my phones. So I decided to give up on cases. I bought my iPhone in October and it only has one little scratch above top speaker.
I use a screen protector and no case. I prefer the feel of a case-less phone. Also I feel it fits better in my pocket; since I use a MagSafe wallet, not having the case helps with the bulk. Also the wallet does add some protection to the back when it is on.
i still have the 14 pro max and the only thing that bugs me with going caseless is the fingerprints on the stainless steel so if i got a 15 pro max i would probaly go caseless
I haven’t used a case on any phone for 5 years. By the time I’m switching, the phone has always looked the exact same as day one. I’ve always had AppleCare as a backup, but have never needed to use it.
Thats one of the reasons i like smaller phones better: I'm very clumsy, its very easy for me to drop bigger phones, they dont have great grip for me, case or no case
I have no screen protector on my iPhone 15 but a good aluminum case by Pelican. I have no scratches or damage whatsoever and my phone has been dropped on a tile floor multiple times.
I have never been happy with any of the cases except maybe the beats case and Apple clear case. However, both show fingerprints and I can’t stand the cases that are rubber. Also, when I dropped my 15 pro max with a case, I still got a scratch and small indent on the corner. The thing I like about going caseless is the matte back glass stays clear and doesn’t show fingerprints. I have the Apple upgrade program that comes with AppleCare +. I do have a screen protector only because within hours of getting my 16 pro max, I took it to the fair and the screen had 2 scratches. Currently using the 16 pro max caseless since Sept and so far no scratches on back or frame.
There are glass screen protectors made specifically for the back of your iPhone. These work just like the screen ones. They can help with the micro scratches if you want to use your phone without a case.
Because life happens, doesn’t matter if you are great with your phone, there’s always a chance someone could drop your phone if you let them make a phone call, or someone could accidentally knock it over if you put it down for a sec…case all the way, one of pelicans cases claims 21 ft drop protection, i would much rather have a more protected phone than less protected. I use a screen protector too. Even with a case I would still recommend being careful with your phone, but at least with a case(a good one not some sleek useless minimal protection case) if something happens you have an extra layer of protection.
I’m actually doing this experiment as well and so far so good going caseless 👍🏻 Have not dropped the phone so far anyway lol Thanks for the follow-up video!
I feel that the more you handle the phone without a case, your muscle memory makes it less likely to drop. And yes, it's hard to remember not to just throw it around or set it on a granite counter.
Very interesting video that I was looking for. The reason I do not use the iPhone without a case is that it gets to slippery. Although I have an Apple care + plan I still stay with the rebel flex case that gives me good protection but still isn’t bulky.
The iPhone XR’s two official cases are awful. The clear case completely, permanently tarnished the back glass (which I eventually convinced an Apple Store to cover under AppleCare), and the Battery Case is an ultra-thick silicone case that is a dust magnet and always pulls the lining out my pocket. The Otterbox Defender also suffered from the same issue as Apple’s Battery Case. The only case that felt good, slid out of my pocket properly, and protected my phone against a rough retail job was the Otterbox Symmerty. Ever since leaving the rough job in mid 2023, I’ve rocked my XR bare, and have gotten lots of compliments on the vivid yellow of the device, and many iPhone 15 owners use cases that make their 15 feel far bulkier than my now-5-year-old phone
Actually had to use my phone (S24+) without any protection when I first got it back in February. Was babying it but otherwise nothing. I take my phone out of its case a few times because I do like how it feels. Maybe when my case wears out I could go caseless again
Been freed from the shackles of having a case for 2 months now on my Sony Xperia 1 iii. has 1 microscratch but barely noticeable even on right angles. 👌👌
I appreciate the intent behind this experiment and sharing it, but I just can't get behind it to be honest. The whole point of my case is for grip more so than protection. I don't see the utility of going caseless if I have a worse experience than when I have it with a non-slick case.
I hate cases. I’ve only dropped my phone once. I’ve had the S22 for a year and a half, and the only thing I’ve applied is a screen protector. I love the feel of the metal and build quality in my hands.
I always use my phones without a case, xperia sp, one plus 3t, one plus 5t, one plus 8 pro, iphone 14 pro and now 15 pro max. The only "damage" that is inflicted (as long as u dont drop it) is the oleophobic coating. Once gone it makes it easier to get fingerprints, dust etc settle on the screen unless you wipe it with a microfiber. Typically unless u drop ur phone or u work in an industry where the phone is prone to some form of physical abuse, they usually remain just fine.
I used a simple aluminum frame and a skin on the back for a while. It was as close to careless as I’ve tried yet. I did drop it a few times and everything was ok. I’ve been using a cheap silicone case I paid $7 for but it sticks to my pocket really bad. The frame has to be replaced every few months and I guess I could just buy a few at a time. The cost adds up though and I’m thinking about trying an aramid thin case next.
@@JackHackett1 Paying extra to protect a device you can already make the effort to protect yourself? Seems to me like you just really want to be seen with a naked iPhone and let everyone know you got it -_-
@@adequatequality Not to mention any kind of device care insurance is more expensive compared to buying a case and screen protector. My case and screen protector cost me maybe 60-70 dollars. Definitely could've gone cheaper (way cheaper if you go for a budget phone) but I wanted my case and screen protector to have both looks and functionality
I used to use a case on my phone, but when I dropped it, the case remained intact while the phone inside cracked. Since then, I don't see the value in cases anymore, as they didn't fulfill their purpose. I've been using my 14 Pro Max and now my 15 Pro Max without a case.
So the micro scratches on the screens are just from the oleophobic coating. That's a relief to hear cause the moment I saw my first scratch from my 15 pro I immediately slapped a screen protector on it.
Never had issues with scratches ..until I got the 15pro max…my previous phones 8+ and 11 pro max …have the 15pro max a few months and already lil scratch on my screen….the screens are easier to scratch these days, my dad to day hasn’t changed…but you’d think it being titanium..and for the price…it would be the ultimate…but imho…its cheaply made
Never used cases on any smartphone and mobile phone ever, 20+ years. But for my 13 Pro Max i bought this beautiful purple leather case and now i don’t get it why you should‘nt use a (leather) case, it’s just so much easier to use and care. No glascanon and you don’t have to baby your phone all the time, leather feels better and i often just throw my phone on the couch.

It’s like a half-naked, a swim suit if you will 😂
Adds grip and “set down” insurance, with almost no added bulk even if not much drop protection. leaves the buttons exposed and most importantly the bottom edge for swiping. It’s a great compromise!
Also, I LOVE my flolab screen protector. It reduces glare and reflections a LOT, not as much as matte but very close, but keeps the inky black contrast and colors of glossy. Check it out before going back to matte, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Have one on my blue 15 pro max, picking up the one for my natural pro max tomorrow. But will still go caseless and just slap it on when I need to
Pitaka is a rebranded Ali express 20$ case
All the engineering and expense to select the most exquisite materials just so we slap a 5 dollar rubber on it.
Have had my iphone 15 Pro Max now for 14 months - used it everyday, vacations, etc. All without a case and still perfect condition.
Without screen protector?
@@alexispardo7 No screen protector or case of any sort.
Gotta add - I am careful with the phone though. e.g I avoid putting keys in same pocket as the phone etc.
a friend of mine has the iphone 13 pro max and uses it without a case since 2 years and it still looks almost brand new no cracks no dinks nothing maybe a few micro scratches on the screen and he goes downhill biking and other extreme sports you should just handle your device like its worth something
I stopped using cases years ago. The Rockwell hardness required to scratch glass isn't in materials in houses or cars. I keep my phone in one pocket and anything else I need to carry in the other. I never broke a phone or even got scratches on my devices.
Aside from zippers. I've had a zipper dig an actual CANYON in Gorilla Glass Victus. They're evil, I tell you.
I think a nice middle ground is a naked iPhone + leather MagSafe wallet (not FineWoven as it’s not as grippy)
It’s what I have right now. I’m admiring my 15PM with its case off while watching this video but still have my leather MagSafe wallet on. It just feels right
No case with an ESR wallet and screen protector are my go to.
I’ve had my 15 pro caseless and screen protector-less since launch and it’s perfectly fine. I really don’t think it’s necessary
Nobody intentionally drops their phone. Hence the need for a case
So the back is scratch resistant but the front isn’t. Way to go
Although I trust the crack resistant, they are very easy to scratch so I opt for screen protector.
For case, I go caseless for a few month and dropped to rough surface twice, and the dent are noticable and make the phone lose value more
You should consider trying a magnetic phone back. I've started using one from Suti. It is very high quality and protects that camera bump.
I have a regular iPhone 15 and I’ve had it for less than a month or so and the back glass cracked and I always have a case on it -.-
Hey my friend I on with you I always have case for my s23 ultra !
You left out one big important thing resale value‼️
I never got the logic behind all of these TH-camrs drooling over colors of the stupid phone.
Been caseless for a couple months only a few scratches on the 15 pro max
Only a few will add up to many 😜 lol
I use the case when outside my house in ambients where I’m not used to. When at work sometimes I remove the case as I got familiar with the place where I am, but when walking on the streets the case stays 100% of the time.
I use these exact Mothca matte screen protectors on my devices currently. They’re very good! I’ve had one on my iPhone 13 mini for about 2.5 years and I haven’t had to change it yet.
Nice!
Yep, I agree that the wider sides of the 14 have more grip.
I get the no screen protector, but for me it just doesn’t feel right without a case and since I have a glass back it’s my slippery so ya
When I’m at home I use mine caseless when I’m out and about gotta have it protected and I always rock a screen protector
If it lands on its back the glass will break on the back and it will cost more to fix it
Ever since the iPhone 3G I've never used a case, it just consciously makes me more careful with it 🤷🏻♂️ Never ever dropped one.
i still have the 14 pro max and the only thing that bugs me with going caseless is the fingerprints on the stainless steel so if i got a 15 pro max i would probaly go caseless
Pelican, like the big case people?
"When naked, you just don't have to worry about feeling squishy". Umm...I beg to differ, Sir. 😭😂😭😂
Ha
Because life happens, doesn’t matter if you are great with your phone, there’s always a chance someone could drop your phone if you let them make a phone call, or someone could accidentally knock it over if you put it down for a sec…case all the way, one of pelicans cases claims 21 ft drop protection, i would much rather have a more protected phone than less protected. I use a screen protector too. Even with a case I would still recommend being careful with your phone, but at least with a case(a good one not some sleek useless minimal protection case) if something happens you have an extra layer of protection.
I hate cases, but I also drop my phone several times a year on a hard surface. Getting it repaired is a hassle, so I reluctantly use a case.
Trying with my 14 pro max space black with sim tray
I’m actually doing this experiment as well and so far so good going caseless 👍🏻 Have not dropped the phone so far anyway lol Thanks for the follow-up video!
Good luck! What’s the hardest part?
@@JerrySchulze the mindset of not using a case; like where I set it down
I feel that the more you handle the phone without a case, your muscle memory makes it less likely to drop.
Monthly updates ?
I think the 15 pro is harder to hold naked because the titanium is slippery compared to the 14 pro and also lighter.
I would never -N E V E R - use an iPhone without a case. It's too expensive to risk
Buy a careplus for that bro
Where can I get the wallpaper used in this video?
I was looking for it too! I think it's called MacOS 14.0 Sonoma wallpaper
I've never bought a case for my iPhones over the years. I prefer to use the device as it was designed, and the design is pretty good!
Ya and you’ll also ruin and crack the phone to pay for repairs as it was intended as well 😂
@@adequatequalityapple care 👍
Where can I find that wallpaper
I was looking for it too! I think it's called MacOS 14.0 Sonoma wallpaper
@@Texted thanks
A screen protector and a grip sticker on the back and just go on with life
I use cases the same way I wear pants. In public, I make sure I'm covered. The minute I get home. It's coming off!
Ha!
I would prefer a case for customization.
Yep, I get that.
Is it me or are the i phones becoming less durable with each release? The iPhone X 11 12 and the 13 are the best in durability.
So the micro scratches on the screens are just from the oleophobic coating. That's a relief to hear cause the moment I saw my first scratch from my 15 pro I immediately slapped a screen protector on it.
So far they are.
The scratches are in the glass. Oleophobic coating is just a coating for smoothness.
what about the lens? It seems like they are hit everytime the phone is resting on a desk
I tried I phone 15 pro with out case and screen protector for couple of months , It’s so slippery and it fall down and cracked the screen
I've used all my mobile phones case less until now, I'm using a samsung s23 and the device is just too damn expensive to leave bare😅
I ROCK IT NAKED AND SINCE I'M USING THE MINI THE CHANCES OF IT FALLING DRAMATICALLY REDUCED TO 99%.
Omg I could not do it I was scared I was going to drop my phone, my son took his off and shattered the back of his 14 pro max 😢 I am glad you did it with out breaking your phone
Been luck, so far…
