  • No case, no screen protector - 1 year later caseless... was it worth it?
Today I discuss my personal experience using my iPhone 14 Pro without any case or screen protector. I discuss experiences of it dropping, scratches, are there any cracks? Will I use my next phone in the same way? Stick around to find out :) Also let me know what you thought about that intro, it was so fun shooting it haha.

Apple spends so much money each year to make these phones as slim as possible. Just so people can put them in a case. I’d rather just enjoy my phone case less.

I have used a low budget galaxy for 3 years without caso or screen protector and it only has very few and minor scratches on the screen and quite some scratches on the plastic back, but nothing too awful. Now I have a 13 mini and I think I'm going to just put a skin to add grip and that's it. I hate cases, it makes the thing bulky and heavy for me. I'm quite conscious of what I do with the things I hold in my hands and I think when you don't put a case that makes me be even more aware that I need to be careful with the thing.

as a blue collar guy, I wouldn't use my phone without a case, never know when your gonna smack it with something or drop it.
I will say that I used to have a screen protector but it cracked and havent been able to get a new one yet. Its been so long since i had a screen protector that i think ill just get a new phone before i get a new protector xD

Just use screen protectors and a thin case or skin it's worth the resale value in my opinion

Did that with my 14 pro, this week traded it in for a oneplus. It had 3 scratches on the screen and i've only had the phone for about 10 months. I was relatively gentle with it too but I guess it just doesn't matter. i have a case and screen protector on my oneplus and don't plan on buying an iphone again any time soon.

Phone in a pocket with keys? Do you only have one pocket? (Good video. I am case-less but I admit I coddle the phone).

personally I use an iPhone 13 mini for 1.5 years and due to my leather case and screen protector it is constantly overheating. This causes my battery to degrade extremely fast even though I am charging it in slow 30-80% cycles. My battery is barely over 80% max capacity with less than 500 full cycles. So if I hadn't used a case it would have had much better battery life now.

I like the way they look without a case, but actually prefer the hand feel with a case on it usually (depending on the case). If you can afford to replace it or buy insurance for it, that removes the damage cost issue, but I don't like to spend the time getting it fixed, so I use a case. I know cases don't protect against everything, but they do a reasonable job most times on a drop.

I use a great case, but really dislike screen protectors. I always keep my phone in a pocket with nothing else, and it’s been over 6 months now and not 1 scratch on the screen. My previous iPhone did end up with a few scratches on the screen but I think I accidentally also put my keys in the same pocket.

    • @AcaYT

Are you also using 14 Pro? Im thinking about taking off my screen protector but im not really sure, used every phone without any protection and never got any problems because im careful but im scared about this one cause people say it scratches. What’s your opinion after this time?

    • @MrSamoDude
      @MrSamoDude 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@AcaYT I’m using a 15 Pro Max, previous a 12 Pro Max and a Samsung Galaxy before that. Since at least the 12, Apple have used Ceramic Shield glass which is very similar to gorilla glass used by Samsung’s, both made by the same company. If you’re the kind of person who looks after their phone and doesn’t put it in a pocket or bag with metal objects or grit/sand then you should be fine. I’ve not scratched my current phone at all but I am really careful, and I much prefer interacting with them without another layer of glass or plastic in the way. My previous 2 phones did end up with a few minor scratches, but neither were visible or noticeable during use. I think they came from when I accidentally put a key in the same pocket, and when I kept my work phone in the same pocket and its camera bump pushed up against my iPhone screen. I now don’t put anything in my pocket where my iPhone is kept and so far so good. The only other concern is if you are the kind of person who may drop it, obviously a screen protector would help if the lip of a case isn’t deep enough to prevent the screen hitting gravel etc. I personally use a point and shoot camera strap tethered to my Mous case, mainly for when taking photos, but that helps prevent it from hitting the floor if I were to accidentally drop it.

I don't own an Iphone, but like anything that I spend money on I would like it to look as good as I can. That is a choice, we all make. Since my phone is bought and not going to be exchanged until I want to or stops working I like to have it in good condition, I think the challenge is makers of the phones design them to look good, but most cover people covering up the design negating aesthetics. interesting video Ryan! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! I agree, if you are not going to be exchanging your phone any time soon and need it to last as long as possible, then a phone case seems more beneficial than to those who exchange their phones on a 2-year contract. Always glad you enjoy these videos :)

I have an iPhone 13 mini and once i putted my old nokia in same pocket... seems iphone don't like other objets. Big scratch. It did go overtime so i think it's the fingerprint coat that went off and not directly matter because it couldn't have repaired itself.
Other than that. No screen protection but a case since yesterday.
After few falls the leather case started to not fit and it was annoying. I bought the clear case and i regret it because it's so hard to click on the side button, the plastic is going very slippery and hot while using and i hate the plastic feel.
Added that apple stop sold both leather and clear case officially...
Almost 2 years and it's pristine especially the screen. I just take care of not put other objects same place.
    Good video !
