    Finally, a proper perspective of how it work out the ground clearance of byd seal.
    This is a very important video to someone who is thinking to buy this car, specially if they live in an apartment with an accentuated acess to garage.
    Great video!
    May I ask you if the front canera does not let see the wheel stoppers before you hit it?
    Thank you.
    By the way, the car still looks wonderful even after those minor scratches.

    • @SkyPerspective

      For this case when I scratched it, I just drove into the car park and head in right into the lot so the camera didn't automatically turn on. The camera turns on when we put the car into reverse or when we manually press the 360 camera button. I have learnt my lesson from this scratch. Now every time once I enter a carpark, I switch on the 360 cameras.
      Thanks for your compliment, I am glad you found my video useful. Yes another point is the 360 camera will be very useful for apartment carparks.

    Thanks for the video, great to put things in to perspective. I too have 'scratched' those two front rubber wings on my performance seal and thought it was a bit worse, but your video helped put my mind at ease a bit. Will still run higher pressures (maybe like 45-46psi) front and rear to help prevent the scrapings, which should improve efficiency as well. Yes it will lead to slightly quicker tire wear, but since I am novated leasing, not too worried about that until I own the car outright in 2-3 years.

    • @SkyPerspective

      Nice! I could be wrong but I think the recommended lower pressure for front tyres (36-38 PSI) is for steering grip and safety. Something to consider.

      literally the main thing barring people in Indonesia to buy Seal is exactly this. I test drive the premium yesterday and it failed to enter my carport (it does have crazy incline tbf). still preorder tho lol

  • @tezza_61

    Thanks for the video, my concern on ground clearance is getting into my garage. The drive is angled down to a level garage floor. My current Subaru Forester can only be driven forwards into the garage, as reversing scrapes the tow bar. Wife's Mazda 3 no issue with the driveway. Guess a test drive home would help solve this for certain.

    • @SkyPerspective

      Looks like you have a tricky garage. Maybe you can draw some gradient diagrams and do some math calculations. Good luck.

    Read somewhere that BYD Seal has sort of an Active Sound Design (fake exhaust notes) feature or an app you'd have to download into the system. Have you had any interest in finding that out?

    I'm used to driving lowered cars like Skylines and Evos so it's just second nature for me to approach curbs and driveways with a slower attitude in my Seal Performance. Also helps to 'crab walk' the car on to driveways by ensuring that one wheel goes on first.

  • @stelp7617

    As a comparison, My Seal has better clearance than my old 2013 Civic hatch. The civic used to scrape just a tiny bit on my driveway, but the Seal doesn't. The one time I have scraped anywhere is at our local maccas, but their driveway is total crap and unless you're going at a snail's pace you'll scrape with any car short of a 4WD.

    • @SkyPerspective

      Yes the clearance of Seal is just right for a sedan point of view. Civic is renowned for its too low clearance.

  • @ajncor

    Hi again, may I ask what is the recommended tire pressure of the wheels?
    Thank you.

    • @SkyPerspective

      Of course. We can easily check the label on passenger door. The label says what the front and back tyres pressure should be. For my Seal Dynamic the label says 36 PSI for front wheels and 42 PSI for rear wheels because the motor runs on the rear wheels. However, I have tuned mine to be precisely 38 PSI front and 42 PSI rear at normal cold temperature. As long as left and right have same pressure we should be good.

    • @monopolize7493

      @@SkyPerspective Interesting. My performance is also 36/42 on the door label, but it has a motor at the front too. I run 38/42 also.

    • @SkyPerspective

      @monopolize7493 I suspect even though 4wd, the rear motor does most of the driving. Front motors only kick in when we accelerate hard. Front wheels need to be lower pressure for more ground contact to steer the car. Have you watched the video showing performance is only two wheel drive?

    Entering a driveway approach at an angle and ground clearance of first wheel to go over raises ground clearance and second wheel is lifted up to land on drive, same when leaving. maybe get your camera out again! 😊

  • @bobo-san

    my experience: I hit the ground with the BYD Seal but NOT with the Tesla M3 RWD... M3 has a higher ground clearance so be aware of the Seal... the BYD dealer in germany acknowledged as a known issue. If you park them side by side you can clearly see the M3 has more clearance. There is no difference between Seal RWD or AWD, we compared both of them with the Tesla M3 RWD... in Germany we only have 19" wheels both on BYD RWD or AWD... that means: you definitly will hit most of the bumpers at e.g. charging station, parking lots

    • @OTPulse

      Ground clearance is what it is. You need to learn what it is and not to hit things. I've got a 2019 Corolla and it's hight is stupid low and my front spoiler got snapped right after getting it.

    • @SkyPerspective

      Good to hear all your experience, this is why I made this video for all of us to share our experience. Nice to know Tesla M3 is taller. For me, I guessed I am trained by my previous Honda Civic which is lower than the seal, that's why I always go slow when I clear humps.

  • @isacovvictor6558

    The most problematic part of Seal is the front bumper. Could you please measure the clearance at the front bumper ?! Would be very greatful

    • @SkyPerspective

      Yes sure. On the sides of the front bumper near the wheels the clearance is about 15cm, and the middle part of the front bumper is about 16cm. Hope this helps

  • @tommylou77

    I think the premium and performance model has bigger size of rims, so the ground clearance will be higher than the dynamic model 😅

    • @SkyPerspective

      Yes, you most likely are correct. I hope someone with premium or performance can confirm if it's 14cm ground clearance without passengers.

    While I am no car expert, that ground clearance feels quite less. Is it normal or does the seal have lower than average ground clearance for hatchbacks?

    • @SkyPerspective

      I would say the Seal's 14 - 15cm is good and standard ground clearance for a sedan. Maybe I am used to Honda Civic crazy low clearance. I think Civic is only about 12 or 10 cm.

      @@SkyPerspective oh I forgot these were Sedans not Hatchbacks (that's how much of a car non-expert I am).

    • @SkyPerspective

      @@narutokunn Glad you find this information useful. I got a lot of audience from Asian countries like Thailand and Singapore asking me about ground clearance of my BYD Seal, hence this video. • @Andydwyer99

      @@SkyPerspectivehere in Thailand we have a lot of car parks with the concrete wheel stops. Generally we tend to reverse into spots like this and I did notice one of the rubber bumpers had one of the plastic screws/studs missing which could have possibly been displaced when driving over a concrete wheel stopper as in your video.
      I now check regularly that all the plastic screws are in place and suggest other Seal owners do the same .

    • @SkyPerspective

    • @SkyPerspective

      But I like a sedan. I don't like sitting up straight in an SUV. Nothing beats the comfort of the 8-way electric seat of a sedan, precisely adjusted to cradle us, it's like relaxing on a recliner couch.
