Drag racing the BYD Seal against supercars! Faster than a Lamborghini?

- We drag raced the BYD Seal against some modern supercars including the likes of the Nissan GTR R35, Porsche Cayman GT4, and the Lamborghini Huracan. After the straight line sprint, we took the car out to see how it holds up in a daily driving scenario.
No spoilers, but we're impressed!

Wow the byd seal is basically in the same class as a Toyota Corolla, and it’s competing with gtr and lambos
wow! BYD is a beast! here in Australia, the performance model can be had for under 65k... it can beat any supercar 3 times it's price.
Tough, used Telsa Performance for 55k or new Seal? Telsa is faster at 3.4 secs.
The byd seal performance model is 74k not 65k the premium is 65k but has a 5.9s to 100
Seal awd under 65 in qld, 67in nsw, 70 in vic. Etc, etc. Very affordable performance in a 5 seater battery car. Turn off traction control for extra take off magic, just like with other byd cars, unfortunately some reviewers drag racing these cars are not aware of this. Neither are they aware that it resets at over 80kph for safety reasons. And soc neads to be high for maximum performance.

The lag on starting for the seal is for safety reason. To prevent drivers from accidental acceleration
But sometimes we need the instant performance to overtake other cars on road.
@@arifzain6844 how many cars n the road can match the acceleration even including the lag? Don't make the road a racing track. Don't forget 0 to 100 in at least 8 min is the norm for other cars

and.......... can reach 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, cover ¼ mile in 10.2 seconds, and doesn't handle like a Camry!. You think a Car maxing out @ 180kph can beat a car doing 325kph.. SO DUMB IQ 21. "I like the soft suspension" "Good on uneven roads" So in other words "Boaty, sloppy suspension, tonnes of inertia"

The 4WD performance is only selling for around US＄38K in the Chinese market, unbeatable at that price range.
No, now BYD's company has cut its prices. Some models cost less than 80,000 yuan，That's about $15,000😂
And same variant is for $70,000 in India.

electric motors in nature have max torque at 0 rpm, the delay is tuned intentionally to give driver reaction time

The race against the GTR should be redone as it was very close and you had a slow start.

Wasn't just a slow start... he legit didn't do anything for the first 0.5 seconds.. several times in video. He's so slow. It's every single one.. he legit stalls for 0.5 seconds. They all take off way ahead of him.

the slow reaction time is why BYD lost, the driver had slow start in every race, should have changed the driver
Too easy to say that behind the keyboard without actually being there on set with the particular car. As explained in the video, the car does not accelerate instantly the moment the pedal is depressed, contrary to what some might expect. There is a very obvious lag time between flooring the pedal and the car being propelled forward, and it got worse as the day went by with increased heat and load on the car, perhaps even traction control that held the car back a little.
was it possible to hold down the accelerator fully and hold it on the brake, then release the brake for a faster get away ?@@HorizonDriversClub
The battery would depleted and heated up after each race which would degrade the performance of the car significantly. So very impressive performance from a compact/mid size family sedan.

Great video guys been waiting for a competition. I have a seal 3.8S on order. In Australia it is priced at just under SGD60K, Not feeling so bad about a loss to a Lambo as it would break my bank.

re race the huracan and gtr with huracan as the first race and earlier pedal launch adjusting from the factory lag/delay.

Porsche makes you pay far more $$$ for performance than most other manufacturers.
They won't allow you to have Tezzy performance for less than twice the price

The slow start is actually programmed in on purpose. If removed, instant torque can be applied, and more wins are possible.

I'm sure they don't have enough time to recharge. The filming time is usually very tight.
Doesn't make any difference. The batt percentage only affects the range coverage, not the speed/acceleration. Speed/ acceleration fully depends on the driving mode selected, whether you're on Eco, Normal, or Sport.

Actually lithium ion phosphate batteries are a bit different. They are very safe but acceleration speed goes down after few rounds. That is BYD blade battery. So the selection of competitor vehicle should be fastest to slowest. 😊

I Bought a BYD SEAL, and I love it, this is a real big business to who like performace, tecnology and good price. By the way, is there a drag race and the pilot in video doesn't use this, maybe he will win the GTR and Lambo.
