    That sad moment when you realized that all members of the Ultimate Warrior's team in 1990 have passed away. May they RIP.

      Same with Andre's team in 1988. Sadly that's the case with a lot of those older Survivor Series teams where all or the majority of the team has passed away.

      I was so looking forward to that match, but it broke my heart as a fan because Demolition were wrecked. Ax was pinned early on, and it was clear LOD were completely over powering Demolition. It was hard to take as a Demolition fan after they'd been so dominant for the last few years. As a kid I'd assumed Demolition would see off LOD, like they did with the Powers of Pain, and take the belts back off the Hart Foundation.

    Survivor Series 2003 teams for Austin’s job was real dramatic and emotional. Especially the ending with Batista stopping the heroic comeback of HBK. I thought the match told a great story. I also liked the 95 wild card teams, brought something different. When HBK comes out in his entrance in 95 he gets an insane pop.

    Survivor Series 1990 The Grand Finale Team is one of my favorites because it was the first time that all remaining participants from the matches got together at the end for one GRAND finale. It was never done before, and on the heel team it was the first time that an entire team had survived their original match with all members not being eliminated.

    I love the traditional Survivor Series format, be it the original 5-on-5 or the 4-on-4s that followed in the years immediately following. I loved seeing guys team up that you wouldn't normally see. But I really, REALLY loved that tag team Survivor Series matches in the first two events. That tag match from '88 with the Powers of Pain, the Rockers, the Bulldogs, the Young Stallions, and the Harts, against Demolition, the Rougeaus, the Busters, the Bolsheviks, and the Conquistadors is one of my all-time favorite matches, period. There was just something about it I can't quite put into words. I NEVER get bored of watching it over again.

  • @WarhawkBeyond2040

    Survivor Series has always been one of my favourite ppv's mainly because you would see teams being put together of guys who have never worked with each other or had to put their differences aside to win a match based on survival. The level of star power was always cool to see being assembled especially as it would be the only time that you would see the big names as a team, in my opinion, both sides in the Survivor Series 2001 main event had a lot of star power and it's my all time favourite

    I think my favorite teams were apart of the original Survivor Series in 1987. Partly because it was never done before, and also for the wrestlers grouped together. Consider Randy Savage's team which consisted of Ricky Steamboat, Brutus Beefcake, Jake Roberts and Jim Duggan. The best mid card babyfaces in the company at the time, and the fact you had Macho and Steamboat on the same team the very same year they clashed at WrestleMania 3 was insane.
    Then there was the babyface tag team Survivor Series team. The tag division was so incredibly deep and may never be surpassed. You had Strike Force, The British Bulldogs, The Killer Bees, The Rougeau Brothers, and The Young Stallions. Imagine a tag division like that today, and then consider they were only the babyface teams.

    The issue I have with survivor series and have had for awhile is back in the day, mid 90's amd back. The teams came together based on story lines being built where it was guaranteed that every member of one team was feuding with a member of another team and in a number of cases, story lines were crossed and future teammates would end up helping each other and vice versa due to the other team double teaming and interfering in a wrestlers match causing for saves and eventual creations of teams.

    The first one I can remember
    92 Bret Hart (WWF) vs Shawn Michaels (IC) this was really the first time WWE gave us a main event with two guys who were more athletic than muscular and obviously those two would go on to be all time greats
    The Brock Lesnar vs AJ styles was great Champ vs Champ plus it had a dream match and David Vs Goliath feel to it as did Brock and Daniel Bryant
    Roman Reigns and Big E was a good match but in the opposite end of Bret Shawn with two big guys who could put on a good power house match. Plus Roman’s just great and Big E deserved the chance to shine against him.

    Team Austin was definitely my favorite.
    I have to give an honorable mention to Team Smackdown from 2005 consisting of Batista, Bobby Lashley, JBL, Randy Orton, and Rey Mysterio. Almost no weaknesses there.
    2004's main event may have been the best billed Survivor Series match given what was at stake, each member of the winning team getting a chance at running Raw as interim GM. The teams were also a good mix of pros and new faces. HHH, Edge, Batista, Snitsky, vs Benoit, Jericho, Orton, Maven. Say what you will about Maven but they shined him like a bright new penny here.

    Thanks for this video. I loved this concept, and needs a return to its former glory. Although I'm intrigued with the War Games concept, hopefully next year they return to the old format. Instead of Raw vs Smackdown, they should have Men and Woman's match for both brands.

    Announced beforehand? Sid/Bossman/LoD that got changed to Bossman/LoD in the weeks leading up to Survivor Series 1991.
    Favorite match? A lot of matches have happened over the years, but still, nothing ever stands out more to me than the performance of The Jumping Bomb Angels at the first Survivor Series. Cliché as it, those two women were REVOLUTIONARY to a WWF audience back then. Watching them was like watching something out of the future. Between their appearance in 1988, and Muta's debut in NWA/WCW in 1989, as a mark fan, you believed that they were doing insane bonzo stuff out in the Orient. ((And this was without even knowing about FMW.))

    A fantasy match between the '89 Hulkamanics and '90 Warriors would be so wild. Two of the most badass teams of all time.
    I also loved the '93 All Americans and the DX squad. Both teams of Ahmed/Shamrock/LOD vs NOD were badass. If Sid didn't get injured in '91, the match of him, Bossman, and LOD vs Jake, IRS, and the Natural Disasters would have been badass as well.
    Honorable mentions go to Jake the Snake's Vipers and the Hulkamaniacs in 1990.

    I think the 1991 Survivor Series team of Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, Virgil & The British Bulldog was arguably the best team of that particular PPV. It was also my personal favorite match of the event, despite the disappointing ending.

    • @DayFul
      @DayFul 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aklimar2208 It's between the 2x4's Vs the King's court (Macho Vs Bret was a treat) and the Rowdies Rowdys Vs Roodes Brood. Rude and Perfect where machines in that match especially when it was 2 against 4 they sold like crazy while picking Roddy's the apart.
      The only disappointment was the lame booking of the Hogan match with 3 dqs and Demolition being made to look really weak despite being mega over at the time. It frustrates me that WWE downplay just how big a deal they where at the time.

    • @aklimar2208
      @aklimar2208 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DayFul Completely agree with your favorites (and how lame the Hogan match was). I remember the collective "oooo" that went through the crowd when Bret Hart got that tag and came in to face Macho Man. Then in the Roddy/Rude match, the best was when they all took turns biting Mr. Perfect!
      Remember the promos in the beginning where they talked about what they were thankful for? DiBiase said, "I'm thankful because I'm rich, and you're not", then laughed LOL!

      What messed it up was that back in the day every one had their own fued that wasn't featured on TV every week, so it was a treat seeing the guys cross paths in the SS even if they were lower card guys.

    Glad to see you mentioned Taker being on the All Americans. I always thought in kayfabe, Taker being on that team made sense and since he replaced the “injured” Tatanka that it made the faces look…GASP! Smart. If wrestling was real, wouldn’t YOU want a person on your team that in kayfabe, felt no pain and drew an apparently endless amount of strength from an urn? Also, glad to see you mention that Lex was still over with the crowd. He was but it’s just that people liked other people more.
