    Sid breaking his leg at sin then jarrett, steiner and road warrior animal continuing to beat on him after he did, was definitely an omg moment for me.

      @jordanbottom9921 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was there and somehow missed the leg breaking. I was so confused when he got pinned after a double axle, then terrified when I saw it on nitro the next day.

    i'd love to see your own personal WCW omg top 50 moments (and WWF too for that matter) moments could make a decent little mini series - maybe just to avoid repetition you could just mention what this dvd got right and elaborate more on the moments that weren't brought up in these two vids

      Feel like that'd be something good to do at the end of the Reliving the War series when it comes in about 4 years or so.

      @@IronTitantrons I was just going to say the EXACT same thing! That he should do that when wrapping up RTW, as kind of a retrospective on the MNW years.

    I cannot believe they left out Sting coming down as The Crow or even the formation of The Outsiders. Apart from those glaring omissions, I do believe Hogan turning heel is WCW’s biggest moment. That was the point where WCW staked its claim in history.

    • @rmyoung87
      @rmyoung87 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I can maybe see your point with Sting but I think Scott Hall's war declaration basically encapsulates the Outsiders by proxy anyway.

    • @dannyboswell7188

      Except it wasn’t that great. Not to ride on with it that far. WCW was boring. They got rid of their best talent to WWF. And WWF made them stars. Wcw was stuck in the 80’s with 5 minute matches. Lame asf. Austin, Jericho , Good ole JR came from wcw and let go. Bc they wanted the left overs from WWFs past thinking it would do em good. Watching wcw fail is better than pornhub. Any day

    In my opinion, McMahon made a huge mistake when he didn't keep ecw, wcw, and wwe as separate entities. There's endless possibilities for crossovers, invasions, and multiple title holders from the 3 companies

    • @martynodonnell8467
      @martynodonnell8467 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This, in theory, would have been really good. The issue would have been. If by “separate entities” you mean separate shows. It would require additional TV time. Another 2-4 hours per week. Had Smackdown or Raw went to WCW or ECW. One of them at least still needs a 2 hour show each week. It would have to be on the same network WWF was on at the time, due to contractual factors. It’s doubtful they would be given that time. Over exposure would be another issue, with three brands on 3 separate nights. As would PPV sales, each brand would have at least one PPV each per month. It would be very costly, just to have them cross over from time to time. There’s also the issue of the pirate episode of WCW Raw getting very poor ratings. The plan was originally to make Raw a WCW show after the buy out. However the plan failed miserably.

    • @j.rivera6402
      @j.rivera6402 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wasn’t Vince’s fault. All the big time players in WCW Opted out because they still had payable contracts from Turner. The talent ruined it from being bigger than it could have been.

    • @martynodonnell8467
      @martynodonnell8467 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@j.rivera6402 tbf if anyone has a guarantied contract, to sit at home, do nothing and get paid mega bucks for it, everyone out there would do the same too. It meant they got to be home with their families. Instead of on the road.

    • @G360LIVE
      @G360LIVE 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Technically, Vince didn't own WCW as an entity. AOL, after the merger with Turner, closed WCW down. What Vince bought was the WCW IP and catalog. He didn't buy the wrestlers' contracts. That would've costed him a lot more money. So, what Vince owned was nothing more than a name and a lot of video tapes. What Vince did after the sale was draw up new contracts with whichever WCW wrestlers he wanted to appear in WWE. And that's all that happened. Vince didn't buy the whole of WCW. AOL shut it down. So, Vince didn't kill WCW; a giant corporation headed by guys in expensive suits who didn't watch wrestling and didn't care to have wrestling in their portfolios killed WCW.

    • @jjmara01
      @jjmara01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In a way they did try that when they cared so much for the brand split with Smackdown and Raw. But people didn't seem the care or put too much thought in it, since they wanted stars on both shows or one star to fight another.

    Just seeing how things were different back in the 90s is truly amazing. I mean no offense to the wrestlers of today but the people from this time period are just far better. Even the way everything looks is better. So much personality and atmosphere, with a mix of great stage production.

  • @Thor-Orion
    @Thor-Orion 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    Dean Malenko was BELOVED by the WCW live crowds. They watched his family for years and had a real appreciation for the history of the business and Dean's place in that history, not to mention how gifted he was in ring. I always preferred WCW when they gave enough time to the in-ring virtuosos like Dean, Benoit and Guerrero. Dean was SO gifted and so worth watching.

    The nostalgia pop from Reliving The War is great fun - but I also enjoy when you cover parts of wrestling history that I don't know as much about. So a Blanchard / TA video sounds awesome and I would also love to see more about Flair / Funk in their prime. There must be a whole untapped goldmine of rivalries for the ages you could use to change things up a bit. To keep things fresh and new - go old-school.

    I believe the Fingerpoke of Doom should be a top 10 WTF/OMG moment because of what it meant. This is the night where not only did Mick Foley/Mankind win the WWF title(which was spoiled by Schivone), WCW pulled the wool over everyone's eyes by having this joke of a match. And as we all know, this was the catalyst of when the Monday Night Wars started to turn in the favor of the WWF. The Fingerpoke of Doom was quite literally the first nail in the coffin of WCW.

  • @RyanParreno

    WWE would never have added this to the list but referee Mark Curtis stopping a fan from interfering in a match and choking him out is definitely one of those OMG moments. You would have never known from his size and demeanor that Mark trained and performed as a wrestler himself and was not somebody to mess with. It was just so unexpected and awesome that the commentary team had to acknowledge it

That era with him against the likes of the Dangerous Alliance, Cactus Jack, Adullah the Butcher, Lex Luger and at some points Ric Flair...must watch stuff for me...I still re-watch a lot of it. Nobody should care about Ron Simmons title win in 1992. In 1991, the Rodney King incident happened when some Asian guy filmed it and is now in the Witness Protection Agency. Then, Los Angeles was burning to the ground in 1992 after the trial to clear the officers of any wrong doing. It was also the same year that Los Angeles would be divided into ghettos or whatever somebody else wants to call it. This move to give the title to Ron Simmons was to bring down tensions in the arena should Ron Simmons NOT win. The WWE was NOT taking any changes. Only those of you that did NOT experience the early '90's first hand would NOT understand or believe this at ALL!

    I personally feel the streak breaking is an OMG moment. I mean it didn't help the ratings or lead to anything special but as a moment when it happened... It gave the feeling of OMG for sure.

    RIP Rick Rude and Scott Hall, two great workers, who could also cut spectacular promos, alas neither truely reached the top and both careers were cut short.
