@@brandonhaygood3268 I was almost 18 when that moment went down. And it was so unexpected. Great list! Surprised by no Golberg DDP from Havoc 98, Jarrett v Benoit at Starrcade 99, Scott Steiner v Ray Traylor from Spring break 98, many of the Steiners tag matches and Stars n Stripes had some bangers too.
Yeah that was one of the worst things wcw ever did. Rey should never be without the mask. Especially knowing how much it means not only to him but lucha in general. Luckily wwe got it and brought him back with the mask.
LoL 🤣🤣🤣 I think he got a good face for television. His mask is awesome and iconic so it can be weird to see him wrestle without it, AT FIRST. Then the match starts and his incredible I'm ring ability and unique wrestling style is so captivating you realize that the mask/face is only one small element of why you/everyone Loves a Rey Mysterio Jr. Match!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Surprised DDP vs Goldberg wasn’t here. Incredible match from Halloween Havoc, probably Goldberg s best match. Lance Storm also had incredible matches in WCWs last year.
Been a pro wrestling fan since before the original wrestlemania. I still think 1989 was one of my favorite years in pro wrestling. In WWE it was all about the split of the Mega Powers. In WCW, i was captivated by my pick for the best trilogy ever with Flair vs Steamboat and how it seamlessly transitioned into Flair vs Funk and how they incorporated Sting vs Muta to eventually end the year setting up Sting vs Flair. It was simply brilliant!
If anyone was curious as to WCW's best rated matches from 2000 and 2001: the triple threat tag team ladder match at Starrcade 2000 (which is on the first WWE Ladder Match DVD), and the Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship tournament final from Greed in 2001. Both are hovering around a 7.8/10 on Cagematch
I love that moment of that Flair vs Funk match when they are trading chops and Flair rakes the eyes, but then Funk pokes both of Flair's eyes with his thumbs and Flair sells the only way he can
During lockdown i was finally able to watch late 80s early 90s wcw in depth and really great stuff love me some Vader v Sting and Cactus v Vader makes me wonder what would've happened if triple threats were a thing back then to see those three have at it. Also would've loved to have seen crow sting and Vader in about 99 if wcw could've got Vader
I remember my best friend asked why does ric get the respect he gets (just because he didn't much about the history of flair and when he did watch him it was evolution flair) and I showed him the I Quit match against Funk. His response... "I get it"
I'd be up for that. In my opinion ECW has an undeserved reputation for just being a bunch of hard-core nonsense. It did have a good bit of that, I'll admit. But, it doesn't get the respect it deserves for turning US wrestling on its ear in the mid 90s. RVD/Jerry Lynn, Guerrero/Malenko, Taz/Sabu, Awesome/Tanaka. All brilliant matches that weren't entirely based on hard-core spots.
WCW seemed to have a lot of blowoff matches to good feuds without a title on the line. Steamboat vs Rude, Sting vs Cactus….hell, White Castle of Fear is “non sanctioned” too
I still Don’t know how Pillman didn’t get paralyzed by Sid on the power bomb in War Games 91. Pillman is absolutely the star of that match, he starts the war games and really destroys a much bigger Windham and has the great chop for chop spot with Flair
Easily have to pick Mysterio vs Guerrero as my favorite match. I love Flair vs Steamboat, but I just think Rey vs Eddie absolutely nailed it on another level.
Would definitely have had Jarrett and Benoit ladder match on my list…Thankyou so much for this though, got some Vader and Sting matches to look forward to watching now ❤
One match that I felt was missing on this was Steve Austin vs Ricky Steamboat for the US Title at the August 1994 Clash of the Champions. Just my opinion
Is not underrated, pretty much every person that Knows Dean says that he is one of the best, I'm pretty sure he was respected by everyone when he was in WWE, but is just that WWE was never a brand about technical talent, you just need to be charismatic to get a push in WWE with exceptions like Chris Benoit or others.
Eric Bischoff is a HUUUGE fan of Dean's. Always giving him tonnes of credit on his 83 Weeks show. That's why Dean got a good run in WCW - Eric knew he had bucket loads of talent.
Always a great night when Wrestling Bios uploads a new video. This guys work is always so entertaining to watch. It's for me thee best pro wrestling chanel on youtube.

Sting vs. DDP 3/23/98 Flair vs. Windham, can't remember the exact date, but it's on the Ultimate Flair Collection....
Sting and DDP had amazing matches both times, '98 and '99 especially considering there was no real build up to each of them. I always wished they could have had a rivalry.
Thank you for the video sir. Normally don't pay attention to match ratings. But this video is excellent as it highlights some classics that I have forgotten about.

I'd like to see something on the Kip Frey reign. It was brief, had a few hiccups (like the talk show format for the Saturday Night show) but all in all was extremely well booked and wrestled. Bringing in Watts was ultimately a huge mistake.
If you haven't seen the Flair/Steamboat 89 Trilogy, you haven't earned your official Wrestling Fan Stripes yet. Incredible matches that will always stand the test of time. Rey, Eddie and Malenko were on a completely different level...
I would love to see one of these for TNA, the triple threat match at UNBREAKABLE in 2005 between A.J Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels is an all-time classic, and one of my personal favorite matches of all time.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for not just going to Uncle Dave's ratings. So many people conflate the opinion of that ONE writer as the definitive authority on a match. Using the Cagematch ratings, which are an average of MANY people's opinions, was the right thing to do.
I use Dave's ratings of 3 stars and up more as a guide for matches I haven't seen (I discovered some great moments from New Japan Pro Wrestling thanks to this), but I agree his star ratings aren't the last word on the subject. Just like how, as famous as Rolling Stone magazine is, it isn't the only music related periodical or website out there, so don't treat it like the bible. Great video been loving your videos especially reliving the war. One thing is technically Ron Simmons wasn’t the first black world champion. Bearcat Wright won the WWA World Title in the 60’ s.
Lots of great matches here. What's amazing is that you could make a really strong list of matches that aren't even included here (Midnights vs. RnR having their last great hurrah at WrestleWar '90, Sting/Luger vs. Steiners at SuperBrawl I, Cactus Jack/Maxx Payne vs. the Nasty Boys at Spring Stampede '94, Chris Benoit vs. Kevin Sullivan from Great American Bash '96, any of the Page/Savage trilogy from '97, and the list goes on). That's how good WCW was at times. Such a shame that it ended up in the wrong hands. Time Warner really sucks.
Kidman and Rey always had a great chemistry in their matches, no matter if it was 1:1, Tripple Threat, Four way dance or tag team matches. Not to mention they had a lot of great matches with other opponents either.
Somewhat surprised that Flair vs Windham wasn't listed. I don't remember watch match it was but I'm fairly sure One of those TV bouts got 5☆ from Dave so I would have thought fans would have rated it fairly high. I saw it when back in the day but haven't watched it on WWE Peacock.
Some good matches off the top of my head, The DDP - Savage match was good, Cactus and Vader had a good Texas Death Match, The Steiners vs Miracle Violence, Steiners vs Sting and Lex Luger, Flair vs Terry Funk.
Man I remember watching that DDP/Sting match with my buddy. We were huge Sting fans. Haha, we stopped watching after he won and didn't know he lost it an hour later until later that week!
My Top 5 favourite WCW matches: 5) Booker T (c) v Lance Storm for the World Heavyweight Title (Thunder, 12th Nov 2000) 4) Raven v Chris Benoit (Souled Out 1998) 3) Eddie Guerrero (c) v Rey Mysterio for the Cruiserweight Title (Halloween Havoc 1997) 2) Sting (c) v Diamond Dallas Page for the World Heavyweight Title (Nitro, 23rd Mar 1998) 1) Bret Hart v Chris Benoit (Nitro 4th Oct 1999)
No Alex Wright or Disco Inferno matches? And no Davey Boy with his chinlocks either? Oh, the injustice. 😉😂🤣 But seriously, fun video, thank you, Wrestling Bios.
I would've had Flair/Steamboat from Clash of the Champions 6 at the top of my list. To this day, it's my favorite wrestling match of all-time. Almost an hour of pure wrestling and it was just mind-blowing to see.
He get the credit. But people should understand that you can't force people to like or praise someone, is just natural. And Malenko was never that popular or charismatic.
Two matches that deserve more credit that made my list: From WCW Saturday Night 2/3 falls Barry Windham vs Stunning Steve for the TV Title and Bobby Eaton vs Ric Flair 2/3 falls match at Clash of the Champions.
The fan jumping up and down when Ron won the World Heavyweight Championship will forever live in my memory.
That’s what wrestling is all about.
