    I really had my sights set on an AEM X series wideband gauge, I just find it such a beautiful gauge as well as a very useful one to have. Whilst shopping online for one, I noticed there were many, many bad reviews about these, especially regarding the used Bosch 4.9 sensors. Because of these reviews I thought it's better to buy one here at an official dealer so I want have any issues with warrantee if it goes bad. Then I noticed that the official distributor didn't offer any warrantee for this product anymore, so I sent them a message asking why not? They replied that the Bosch Sensors are so bad that AEM USA has by now washed their hands completely of them and didn't give a warrantee on the sensors anymore. I am sad, because I had my eye on this product but I am super happy I didn't get one.

    I have one of your AEM X-series gages on a 1995 Harley Heritage. I love it. Using it to tune a Mikuni carb is super helpful to get the carb dialed in as well as monitor the AFR while riding. Trying to record the AEM with a Gopro while riding; however, is giving me some problems configuring the Gopro settings to record the AFR display. Apparently the flashing rate of the AFR meter display and the Frames per Second recording rate of the Gopro are resulting in the Gopro not seeing/recording the AFR readout completely and sometimes not at all. I have been working on the Gopro configuration, but haven't hit on the right combination of settings yet. Can you tell me the frequency of the AFR meter display? Does it change with RPM? I noticed on this video there was a slight flickering also.

    what could cause the wb to quit working in hpt scanner?... gauge reads fine. serial connection was working until the other day, now it just displays 9.99 in scanner. got a new gauge and no change, mode button doesnt work either unless the sensor is unplugged.

    Will the O2 sensor be damaged by having it power up, without the motor running? Like listening to the radio without the motor on.

    • @AEMpowerTVelectronics
      @AEMpowerTVelectronics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. It's best practice to start the vehicle when the sensor is still heating up instead of once it has already heated up, because a heated sensor will be not thermally shocked from cool air at cold start. But if you key on to listen to your stereo and then key off without starting the engine, it will not damage the sensor.

    I don't understand why on wire diagram you recommend a switch, but then you say not to wait the sensor to heat up or not keeping the sensor mounted without use it. Why should I install the switch then? Tnx

    Planning on getting one of these but on my car all aftermarket downpipes have extra o2 bungs like 4in after the turbine housing exit... so i need a separate bung to mount it farther away

    Whats with the desclaimer? Never heard of a guage breaking the law. How would this violate it? I am curious. My car is emissions exempt in AZ would I be ok?

    Thank you for the great video. I recently bought an X-Series for my 1984 Austin mini. The laptops nowadays do not have the serial connectors. How do I connect the Guage to the laptop? What software do you recommend to use for logging and evaluating the logged results? Do you have a tutorial on how to read and assess the logged information? What accessories do you recommend I purchase for my AFR Guage?

    • @AEMpowerTVelectronics
      @AEMpowerTVelectronics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      How do I connect the Gauge to the laptop? A serial to USB adapter can be used, then the raw data can be viewed in HyperTerminal or RealTerm. There are also other 3rd party tuning software that accepts inputs as serial.
      What software do you recommend to use for logging and evaluating the logged results? We recommend AEMdata, However AEMdata logs will need to be pulled from an AEM logging Device such as our Standalone ECU, CD-5/7 displays, or our older (discontinued) AQ-1 data logger.
      Do you have a tutorial on how to read and assess the logged information? We have several AEMdata tutorials on the AEMpower TV channel.
      What accessories do you recommend I purchase for my AFR Gauge? That all depends on what you are looking for and what your goals are, please give our tech support a call so we may discuss possible options 310-484-2322 Ext 303

    What is best procedure then when tuning as the ignition (and AeM) need to be powered up to flash or scan computer before actually starting the vehicle? In the video you state this is not good to cold start air on hot sensor. How do you avoid this issue then when tuning?

    Hi, I am running a V8 Chevy small block with a carburettor, now do I need 2 AFR units for each bunk of exhaust line or not? Typically I think since there are 2 separate exhaust lines then I should use 2 AFR units separately for each, is this correct? please help.

    Interested to see if there is a way I can connect it to my stock ECU for logging purposes. All of my O2 sensor inputs are 2.5v. trying to find one that is 5v. its a GM delco e78 ecu if anyone has any ideas. no access to can bus and my software does not support serial. If I would have known MEFI Pro was such a pain I would have gone with Haltech.

    Do I have to put the wideband before my cata or after?

    • @AEMpowerTVelectronics
      @AEMpowerTVelectronics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Catalytic converters can alter the exhaust gasses enough that it may affect the final air fuel ratio reading, so ideally, O2 sensors should be installed ahead of catalytic converters.

    Do v8 engines need 2 o2 sensors or just one?

    • @AEMpowerTVelectronics
      @AEMpowerTVelectronics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can put one wideband in a common collector after the two pipes come together, but most V6 and V8 applications run two widebands so that you can see AFR from bank to bank. One way to do this using our controllers is to use our X-Series Inline wideband controllers (30-0310) and an AEMnet CAN gauge (30-0312). You can send the data from each controller to this gauge over AEMnet CAN, and toggle in between the two banks using the buttons on the faceplate. Or, you can use two X-Series widebands, of course!

  • @brianrangel459
    @brianrangel459 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know there is a bung included to weld in , but would using an oem bung on the exhaust be okay as well ? I’m assuming it would cause a check engine light since the ecu wouldn’t be reading that o2 sensor anymore and would be used solely for the gauge . Also , if I didn’t want to use the CAN, and serial logging would I just leave them not connected ?

    • @AEMpowerTVelectronics
      @AEMpowerTVelectronics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, if you don’t want to use the outputs simply leave them disconnected. For the bung - yes, removing the factory O2 sensor can cause a variety of problems if your vehicle is using it calibration.

    good day sir, can i use it to ordinary sohc motorcycle for afr tuning?

    • @AEMpowerTVelectronics
      @AEMpowerTVelectronics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. Our widebands are used on all types of vehicles, including carbureted cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Depending on what type of tuner you are using it may have an input that will allow you to see and maybe even log AFR in your program, but you will need to confirm that with the manufacturer of your tuning device.

    Both the gauges where reading abit different why was that?

    • @AEMpowerTVelectronics
      @AEMpowerTVelectronics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is because the X-Series responds faster than our classic digital wideband. They weren't reading differently, the X-Series was just picking up the changes faster.
