Ocelot always finding a way to be with Snake. Doesn't even matter which Snake. These people throughout history passing along their genes and the Boss's memes. Unlike an intron to history they will be remembered as an exon!
5 is the worst game to start with and the worst game of the series storyline wise is you ask most dedicated fans. Game play wise, it can be a blast. Is you want the true metal gear experience okay them in order of release, but since you started with 5 maybe play them chronologically and play 3 next. It's the best game of the series to many fans although my favorite is MGS1.
I’ve been playing MG since ‘98… this is badass to live in a time where I can look this up and find a well thought out summary. Thanks for your work and efforts..I’ll like and subscribe as a thank you
You mentioned Huey during the prequel games, but completely cut out Otacon in the other games. You even briefly mentioned Emma in MGS2, but without even acknowledging Otacon I was kind of scratching my head.
I don't know, seems like Kojima just wanted to keep adding more and more plot twists in each game... to a point where it made the story way too convoluted
I've played the games in this story that have been more mainstream let's say. Solid, 2, 3 etc. Even with this fantastic explanation it's SO hard to follow, I need someone to make a map. Also, I LOVE the art style on all the cut aways, if someone can tell me the artist I'd really appreciate it. Can't wait to see The Boss in the new Snake Eater remake as she was one of my favourite characters. Great work on this video, I can't imagine the effort you put in
I know it's a little messy but I love the MGS story and the series. It's one of my favorite stories in all of gaming. There is a good amount of varying gameplay mechanics to keep fans like me hooked for a very long time
Silent hill is much worse but it does make sense in a way once its explained. Mgs is actually mostly good once you get around all the chaff information thrown at you
The first game I’ve finished in the series was 4 when it came out on the ps3. Oh boy when Big Mama gave a very long exposition cutscene I was completely. I had no clue what every character she was taking about. Lol. Like watching endgame as your first mcu movie. After that went on to play 1-3 and then 5. After all that every thing made sense.
You should buy the master collection when it comes out. Play from the very first Metal Gear if you don’t mind playing games from the 80’s. It only takes about 4 hours to complete but I would recommend a guide haha Metal Gear Solid is where things get good tho! Probably my favourite game of all time
Oh boy you're missing out on a lot of amazing games. MGS 1, 2, and 3 were better than 5 for pure storyline and cutscenes. Gameplay goes to 5 for sure tho, but that's not saying much because they're all amazing in gameplay in their own ways.

Well, the Master Collection coming out in October, and that will have Solid 1, 2, and 3, as well as the original Metal Gear games for the MSX home computer.
So a game where you play as a super secret American spy trying to sabotage the Soviets is canon to a game where you fight as a cyborg samurai against a politician made of metal? Fascinating
Great video, but it's weird that A. You skipped over that the MSF were the ones to create Metal Gear ZEKE and B. You bizarrely completely avoided talking about Otacon?
I guess I did understand the MGS series. I just have trouble putting characters together like Naomi, Para-Medic, and Dr.Marv. They kinda become whatever the writers tell them. I can’t understand why in MGS4 no one bothers Dr.Marv since he originally knew how to build a metal gear. Sigint dies in MGS1 as Darpa chief. Para-medic becomes a he in some writings and she whenever it pleases them. Naomi talks to Big Boss even though he is still paralyzed until the very end. That or she became a zombie to talk to big boss. One can argue she related the info since being paralyzed doesn’t stop you from hearing or looking at stuff. Most importantly, Eva or Ocelot told you that you destroyed Big Boss plan against the Patriots in MG msx and MG2 msx. Solid snake was part of the Patriots until the end.
The Green Beret Roy Campbell was actually Solid Snake's contact outside of Shadow Moses. you kinda missed the twist of what Campbell and Naomi's true intentions were
Awesome Video! Got a question though. I am a little bit confused about Paz. Talking about the one in Metal Gear Zeke from 1974 and then the one from 1975. For me it appears like Paz is younger in 1975 and she somehow doesn't know she is an agent anymore? Can someone explain?
Amazing to see the NES games had all the building blocks as later games. Which makes it strange I can't remember anyone having that as a child as the game looks enjoyable and surely was good for the time
Venom Snake got killed in MG1 and the real Big Boss was killed in MG2. Don't ask more, that's simply the narrative. Big Boss was busy preparing Outer Haven while Venom Snake went rampage.
One thing you forgot to mention, maybe you did idk because i was watching/listening. The Boss was actually the biological mother of ocelot and was birthed on the battlefield when The Boss was leading the legendary cobra unit to victory in WW2.
As someone who knows next to nothing about metal gear solid, is it this intense/confusing when you’re actually playing it? (not that the video is bad! It’s doing a wonderful job explaining it! It’s just a very complicated story) like is it more.. digestible I guess?
Rising is canon in my heart. Portable ops is a mixed bag, since Kojima did work on it, he just didn't direct it, and it is mentioned at the start of Peacewalker. Its part of the story, but not part of "Kojima's metal gear saga". Not disagreeing with you so much as adding more detail for others who see your comment. I am glad they were included in the video though.
It was brilliant making the setting of Snake Eater during the Cold War. Many US soldiers and civilians became disillusioned with the US gov't around that time, just like how Big Boss became disillusioned at the end of Snake Eater.
Played about 2 of the games for a bit once. Love the character of Solid Snake, but I think I'll stick with Splinter Cell. It won't make me cross my eyes at least not yet😵💫.

He survives that moment in Guns of the Patriots and has multiple other scenes in that game. It's explained that he survived in the very next scene (though it is a very weird cliffhanger that very much looks like Raiden dies).
There are a few things that I didn’t really get we’re mostly in phantom pain so the big boss that you play as during the entire game is the medic and the person with the bandages is the actual big boss and why did big boss come even??

Depends on if you trust the Digital Grapbic Novel of MGS2 or not. #HeadCanon
Ocelot also used hypnotherapy on himself aswell right? Not just in MGS5 but in GOTP too?
Wrong. Liquid DID possess Ocelot in MGS2. This is canon, check the MGS4 database. It’s why he switched to a prosthetic between 2 and 4.
Another one is that Ocelot is the son of THE BOSS that was taken away by the philosophers, its not that important, but I think it is good to know
