That awning looks bomb proof! I do what u do on the centre pole as well as the corners inside with ratchet straps and 18 inch rebar pegs all round! The pegging is the hardest job for the bloke! I wouldn’t put a strap over the canvas as it cause friction damage to it, thx for vid 👍🏻 hope this helps people that use coat hangers for pegs 🫣
Cheers Mike , ye we learnt the hard way about using those poxy little pegs for hard standing, to be fair we used that awning for 2 years and it didn’t run to bad , if we could keep foam under it lol 😂… now we just have a motorhome as we’ve sold the caravan and awning. Thanks for watching
A good proper hammer and dig a hole through to hard ground before trying to knock each peg in, they can still be a right pain though! We always used foot long pegs for the four corners and the middle of the long side as well then then use two v shape storm posts to anchor down a storm strap straight across the top but remember to put a twist in the strap each side to stop the wind playing tunes on it!
Hey guys quick question , what do you do you put in the floor in the awning as I noticed it was stone and would you keep the awning up over the winter period ? Great video and very helpful 👍🏻
Hiya so we used to have the awning up April - October but took down through the winter. We had a layer of foam interlocking mats then a mesh awning mat topped with a proper made to measure awning carpet then just placed some fluffy rugs here and there 😊
hi thanks for the video, i see you've moved on to a motorhome but my question is valid for any awning, what did you put on the floor before your rugs etc, i would think you have to have something waterproof but possibly breathable, hope you can help, cheers derek
Hi Derek, so on the floor it’s gravel so we put down the foam click together flooring then a proper breathable awning sheet (like a mesh style) then a made to measure awning carpet which is wipe clean and breathable then just some cheap rugs from a factory outlet.
Appreciate what you are doing, but it's impossible to watch. To make your video more compelling and informative, you really must take note of a crucial rule about filming: the time lag between what you see and what the viewer's brain can interpret. Sadly, I have to find another video clip to help me with awning erection and subsequent problems and tips. Still and all, thanks for trying to help me. 😊
Great stuff. Love the videos. We are an old couple who used to love touring Yorkshire in our younger days. Thank you.
Thanks Ian ☺️ we’ve spent abit of time touring in Yorkshire especially the east coast 😎 great place with stunning views

We have always struggled to pitch up our awning on gravel/stone pitches. Any tips or recommendations on pegs or tools?

Hi how did you find ex display awnings on ebay x
We just typed in the awning we were looking for and it said ex display in the description that was all x
Falling out is standard practice when putting up awnings 😂
It most certainly is 😂 and makes great viewing for people sat in there caravans with there’s already up ☺️
