I have a 2008 lexus gs460. I’ve heard you need a scan tool when replacing brake pads. Is this true?

So the rotors are simply floating on the hubcore, no screws? Thanks

Yes it’s floating. Thank you for watching!

Floating calipers?? 😂 The rotors are held in place with the lug studs and get tighten down with the wheel and lug nuts so they aren’t going anywhere.

SNOWBOARD SURF FOR LIFE You need a scan tool to pull the codes and go from there. It’s possible it’s not related to the brakes but something with the engine. You’re sometimes turn on the bake lights

When you can buy a pair of discs for £50 is it really worth machining the old ones?

Darren Armour if you can get new ones for around the same price as machining I would buy the new ones. But sometimes the cost differences is large and machining it is the next best thing.

New rotors are cheap ... Why reuse old ones risking warpage or wear issues or wasting time and $$$ for turning - it makes no sense...
