    absolutely agree on lavish living habit. we are the country who do not tax the rich and instead we spend hard earned dollars to fund their lavish life by allowing them to import cars worth of hundreds of thousands dollars, packed food items, and lavish home amentias used during construction and so on. We should ban all these foolish imports for 10 years atleast if we want to survive anymore. this is madness.

    Bharat does not have gernails living off the fat of the land. Narasimha Rao and Manmohan took us through that phase.

      But at the end of the day, Indians fell for the jingoistic nationalism of Modi in 2013. What people of India did to congress is ruthless, I mean how can you people forget the efforts of Manmohan both as a PM and an FM? India stands where it stands today is bcz of the reforms Manmohan brought during the 90s. Now India is slowly becoming an intolerant society bcz of Modi's politics of hate. This would not end up great.

      @@shapackgaming4629 What India did to Cong in 2014 is why India is real Democratic nation. We rewarded them with another term in 2009 with increased majority but their term from 09 to 14 was absolutely pathetic with lot of corruption & policy paralysis. India is country of 140 Cr. We reward regime when they good & throw them out mercilessly when they don't perform. India is not jagir of any political party. We chose govt to serve us no need to be loyal slave to any govt. We currently have govt which is doing decent job. So they will get 3rd term in 24 but if they don't perform then make no mistake even they will be thrown out but if they perform we will give them more terms. India today is like this due to effort of successive govt not just 1 man. We are here due to these people
      1) Narasimha Rao & Manmohan Singh - For opening Indian economy and bringing out of economic instability. They were amply supported by statesman like Vajpayee in opposition who didn't trouble govt despite being in minority. Manmohan in his UPA1 era too did some good work like cutting down subsidy on LPG, Civil Nuclear deal etc.
      2) Vajapayee - Who gave a stable govt & then focussed on rapid road infrastructure & education, He steered India away from economic sanctions & led country during turbulent time of Kargil war. Tried to bring peace with neighborhood (though was betrayed by Mushraff).
      3) Current Modi regime - They cut down the red tapism & fast tracked infrastructure development, electricity connectivity & rapid digitization. Modi govt led India effectively in really hard time of Covid and still leading it decently during hard time of Russian war.

      @@ganeshshenoy1175 Then you must also know that know that 2 main parties of Pakistan (PPP&PMLN) both served for 4 and 3 terms respectively but none of them served for 2 consecutive terms. Anti-incumbency is at another level in Pakistan 😂. Even Imran Khan's party was going to loose badly in the upcoming election by the looks of it till the last year but fortunately for him, the two traditional party took over and made the situation worse for themselves and for the country. Imran Khan is currently in a very strong position to win the upcoming elections and he might break the tradition.

    he was comparing Pakistan with Argentina, Srilanka which is unfortunate. Argentina is running trade surplus. Sri lanka has tourism and tea exports which puts them in course correction and their current account balance is not really out of shape. Their only issue was getting loans from china. the apt comparison will be Lebanon where the currency has depreciated by 95% which has similarities like fragmented society, no exports

      Why do you think that society is fragmented in Pakistan? As a Pakistani, I can say that the economic crisis in Pakistan has nothing to do with its society. Why should the society be blamed if there aren't enough opportunities for the youth, why should the society be blamed if the crime rate is surging due to unemployment, why should the society be blamed if people are homeless and are starving due to the recent floods? This is my take on the situation.

  • @DollarBill1981
    @DollarBill1981 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Pakistan faces a serious balance of payment crisis. Two things have mainly contributed to the crisis. First, the imports of foreign-made luxury goods for lavish lifestyle of the rich and super rich classes. Second, the lack of investment in domestic manufacturing sector and exports of Pakistani products. Sadly, the lion's share of cash investment goes into non-productive sector like real estate which does not generate any foreign exchange.
    In a nutshell, a flawed economic policy is formulated by an extremely incompetent bureaucracy and political leadership in Islamabad. Unfortunately, Pakistan is a stubborn country where it is considered taboo to even mention the Indian model and lessons we may be able to learn from the successful economic policies of our neighbor. No wonder Pakistan is doomed in international credit market. Our government bonds are junk quality which no one wants to touch with a ten foot pole.

    India progress was through multiple phases. First it was basic opening from manmohan Singh. next set of reforms was from yashwant Sinha. Then from Chidambaram. Then last set of banking reforms from Raghu ram rajan was even more beneficial. Unfortunately Pakistan has not crossed the first stage. Basic set of opening up reforms. We need to speak a lot on opening up reforms. Pakistan has a open economy only on paper. reality is productivity and competitiveness.
