Nowadays I'm so desensitized to AH stuff that I mostly just watch it for the lore/ARG elements, because mystery is fun to puzzle out. But... that scene with presumably Jack being beaten to death by his father, even with the censoring, was just... brutal. Horrific. Way further than most AH series are willing to go. The pleading, the text getting more jumbled as though spoken through sobs or grievous wounds, each horrifyingly pitiable phrase being punctuated with another terrible crunch... Props to Maple Riot. Serious props. Some of the worst shit I've ever seen, in the best possible way.
Stuffy Studios made a new analog horror video called “Enola’s Minigames” and it’s pretty terrifying. I would like to see a video explaining the lore or something, would be cool :)
The Macabre Experiment one kinda irritated me because of its presentation. With analog horror the main reason why people like it is because of nostalgia. It takes something like a news clip, cartoon, or tv show and corrupts it in a way that is somewhat believable for its time. I don't get that same impression from Macabre Experiment, it just looks like they added VHS effects and distortions to media that wouldn't have been on VHS. This would've been better if they took inspiration from digital analog horror that replicates 2000s internet crustiness rather than VHS analog horror.

I have a theory of what maybe happening with the LOZ series, I think what happened was that the young boy Jack accidentally came across his father killing someone maybe his siblings which drove his dad into a rage. And which had caused the chase that lead to being brutally killed in the basement. Cause as he was attacked he said he wouldn't tell his mom what he saw, and that makes me think he either found the dead bodies of his siblings or some other kids or something else dark that Jack's father was keeping a secret and he had to kill Jack to keep.
Awesome! I highly recommend checking out stuffys other work as well, like the two chapters of malediction (its an interactive TH-cam game with a pretty unique story) i wouldnt call it a straight up horror series, but it definitely leans into the genre a bit I think it’s REALLY underrated as well 😂

Sometimes challenge the player to a battle with my own team, and if the player say no to the battle, i'd be "cool ok, see you next gym battle, peace" the only way i'd force the player to a fight, it be after the champion, kinda like the steven fight or after the delta episode. Heck, i want to kinda fight competitive and i think the player would like to have a "real" fight
I wouldn't say LOZ is a horror, its just one hit after another, its interesting to look at but not at all scary, kinda predictable BUT its pretty and high effort.
So my personal interpretation of Macrabre Experiment 3 is that it's actually a criticism of people who just try throwing well known internet horror icons into their stories in an attempt to make it seem good... Something that has irked me on nearly every analog horror series i've seen (especially back when the shovelware piracy screens were big) and it really tries to kill my immersion every time, but, say it with me, hardware limitations. I'm getting so tired of people doing analog horror, an artform predicated on recreating the nostalgic feeling of something from years of yore, and just not doing their homework/paying attention to detail. Example: say we're watching a super mario all stars analogue horror. It's starting to freak out, at the crescendo we get a GBA crash sound. Now, you dont need to be a nerd to know the SNES's sound chip isnt quite as powerful as a GBA's.
I'm gonna be honest, this is a bit.. cliche. The "analog horror" style is very overplayed, plus the original Ben Drowned has way more effort put into it, since it's an entire mod of the game, while this ARG is just a bunch of photoshopped images and VHS filter. Although the 2nd part is a bit more interesting
If you watched the macabre experiment beyond that episode, you would realize that that's kinda the point. The whole series is about what if all these famous creepypastas where experiments done by someone and it actually has an over arching story to do with all the creepypastas that are featured in the videos and what the experiments even are
both of these kind of suck really bad, imo. one is a clout chasing retread of stuff from the mid 2000s that saps the tension with dumb "OOO SPOOKY FACE" horror while the other is just grainy gameplay with bad visual effects and no depth
