BERGEN: From Denmark to Stavanger and one of Norways most beautiful towns // EPS. 2 EXPEDITION NORTH

- Each journey is different, each journey is unique. I knew that the ride to Nordkapp would be different to all the rides I experienced before. That it would come with its unique challenges. But I didn’t expect one of the challenges being pouring rain. Join the journey For Denmark to Norway, From the port of Stavangaer to Norways touristic epicenter Bergen.
After leaving Eckernförde in Germany we crossed the border to Denmark and went on the highway to the port Hirtshals - to catch the overnight ferry to Norway. On our arrival in Stavanger we encountered pouring rain - and changed our plans. Instead of going to Lysebotn we went on another ferry to Nedstrand. One of the biggest challenges? Finding breakfast!

I could listen all day long to this mesmerizing woman's voice speaking English with a German accent. Of course, the adventure was outstanding, too!
I have problems with motion sickness also, but I don't like taking anything that makes me sleepy. I was fortunate enough to discover wrist bands of tiny beads at a gift shop in Alaska. I had purchased tickets to ride on a boat to see glaciers and the wildlife. I had asked the woman in the gift shop for motion sickness medicine and they were sold out. She recommended the wrist bands and said they work very well without any sort of side effects, so I bought one and wore to give it a try. The waters were rough where we had to cross into part of the ocean. I was able to enjoy the tour without getting sick or sleepy. It was WONDERFUL!! I hope you have something like them in Europe so you won't be sleepy or groggy, that could be very dangerous when riding. I have always dreamed of seeing the old historical towns of Europe, but know I will never get to see them. So thank you so much for sharing your journey and allowing me to have a glimpse of the beauty there. Safe travels!!

Hi! I live in Stavanger and have taken the Hirtshals ferry several times. Yes, you took some wrong turns looking for Lysbotn :-) My wife and I had to laugh a little when we realized which way you must have gone. I think you ended up going through the Tau tunnel (newly opened, longest underwater driving tunnel in the world). Your route to Bergen was a good choice - beautiful route (sorry about the rain). If you ever are in Stavanger again I'd be happy to be a local tour guide. I've ridden all over southern Norway and know it well. The ride to Lysbotn on a nice summer day is glorious. Ride safe!
Haha thank you so much! And yes there was a really long tunnel involved and that was the moment when there was as well no option to turn back anymore. 😂

Zwei navis plus zwei Handys mit navi. Es kann gar nicht genug Technologie geben, um den Mensch vom Versagen abzuhalten. 😂😂😂

Hallo Lea, Deine Reise ist sowas wie ein Herzenswunsch von mir .....verbunden mit der Hoffnung das ich dieses Jahr einen erneuten Anlauf starten kann endlich mit dem Motorrad ans Nordkapp zu kommen. Letztes Jahr konnte ich nicht kurzfristig auf die Pandemie-Lage reagieren, konnte auch nicht ein mögliches Quarantäne-Risiko eingehen, wegen meiner Arbeit. Dieses Jahr sind 4 Wochen fix eingeplant. Ich werde aber auch zittern bis zum Tag der Abreise. Ich MUSS da hoch. Dankeschön dafür das Du immer so toll und mit so gewaltigen Bildern von Deinen Reisen berichtest. Da können so ganz normale GS-Fahrer wie ich unheimlich viel Inspiration und Motivation rausziehen.
Wie toll! Ich freue mich für dich, dass es für dich 2021 auch ans Nordkapp geht - und drücke ganz fest die Daumen, dass die Lage dann gut sein wird um wieder zu reisen und du dich wirklich auf den Weg machen kannst! Du wirst die Reise sicher sehr genießen!

Rain reminds me of my Scottish tour I did a few years ago, every evening dripping water in different hotel reception areas and drying boots out with the hair dryer ready for the next day's dousing!

Sounds a bit like our first two weeks of this journey - only that my boots kept pretty dry for the amount of rain! Lucky me, I know that feeling when everything is wet inside out...

Was in Bergen in January 2020, just before covid struck. A great place and one we would definitely visit again also loved kirkenes -23 the day we were there but fantastic

Use to live in Norway, currently in Philippines. LOVE Norway 🇳🇴, lived close to Oslo for 15 years. Just subbed
Norwegian speed cameras only take pictures of the front of the vehicle so no worries when driving a motorbike where the numberplate is rear mounted.
Lea, The quality of your photography and drone shots has evolved significantly from the last trip. You are also showcasing Europe's natural beauty and history very well. It's a pity you had so much rain. And also sorry to hear about your seasickness though you seem to handle it very well. I guess with the part of the world you are get you cant really get away from it. My son suffers from it so I can really sympathise with you. Someone below mentioned a non-medicinal solution.

Nice to see I wasn't the only one who took the opportunity to travel on two wheels last summer. We might actually have passed each other on the border control. I traveled on my bike from Stavanger to Valais, Switzerland, shortly after the borders opened in June. I also met up with a friend of mine who lives in Germany who also ride bikes. He showed me some amazing country roads from Hannover to Erfurt. I'm already thinking of doing another trip this summer if the borders allow it. Anyway, I can't think of any safer way of travel than on a motorcycle during these times.

In 2018, we were on a 21-day tour to Nordkapp and it rained for only one day. 10 countries, 2 night ferries, and one night train, 7 thousand km on motobike

The rain in Bergen and at the west coast is low pressure from the Atlantic Ocean coming frequently. The clouds drops the water over the high mountains. Such water shed is common all over the world. You see them as different rivers leading to different places in the sea. Ofcourse the water shed causes two different climates east and west of the Norwegian water shed. When the clouds comes over the mountain range over Eastern Norway, they are light.
Hallo Lea, das ist ein spannender Reisebericht mit einer wirklich lustigen Prise Humor. Musste mehrmals lachen. Ich hoffe, dass durch dich viel mehr Frauen den Weg zum Motorrad beschreiten. Leider oft noch viel zu selten. Ich habe jetzt Lust direkt auf s Motorrad zu steigen und loszufahren. Aber noch zu glatt bei uns. Ich glaube ich werde Dein Buch bestellen. Lieber Wilhelm, schön, dass du den Weg hierher zu TH-cam gefunden hast und hier mit auf der Reise dabei bist! Und auch, dass du ein „Unterstützer“ der weiblichen Motorradzunft bist! Ich glaube nämlich dass nicht nur Leute wie ich Frauen zum Motorradfahren inspirieren können, sondern auch Menschen wie du wenn sie so einladend Platz machen in ihrer sehr männlich besetzten Niesche und sich nicht wie verwundete Platzstiere aufführen sobald sie eine Frau auf dem Motorrad sehen.
Ja, ich drücke uns sehr die Daumen, dass wir bald alle wieder fahren können! ☺️

@@Got2Go thanks again. and if you ever come to Norway again; take the ferry to Kristiansand. From here you can ride up Setesdalen and take a beautiful mountain-road to Lysebotn. (usually opens late May with walls of snow, very spectacular) Now I have to see some more of your videos.
