BALESTRAND: Traveling to Gulen, Sognefjord and Norways most artistic town // EPS. 3 EXPEDITION NORTH

- When clouds cover the most beautiful rugged mountains above endless Fjords - it’s time to find the roads off the beaten path - and learn about Norways history. Welcome to the traditional district of Sogn.
After leaving Bergen in the rain (of course), we drove over the island Radøy on some small roads before we visited the historical municipality Gulen. Gulenfjord is a smaller and less known Fjord in Norway . The ride took us further to Sognefjord - which is the biggest Fjord in Norway and after finally finding a ferry we went along the Fjord on a very fun road from Larvik to the village Balestrand.
Balestrand is one of the most artstic towns in Norway and famous for it's architecture with it's dragon houses (like Saint Olaf's church) and for the Kviknes Hotel. Find out why I was able to sit on a german emperors chair - and join me on a little history tour through Norway.

Born and raised in the hot dry Arizona desert that gets less than 3 inches of rainfall a year, seeing all the water, forests, rain, fjords, and waterfalls is so beautiful and like Heaven to me. Thank you for sharing the history and scenery of so many amazing and BEAUTIFUL towns and villages.

The places up here in north...is well worth to enjoy and like...just like down in Europa...there many nice places...Bavaria...f.ecs. I quarantined in Switzerland - since I lived here I got very careful with overtaking - Here skipping lines is very illegal, people get super angry and you have to pay huge fines. So now it’s better safe then sorry😂. But whenever I saw i Norwegian biker who did it, I did it as well. 😂

Missed this episode in the series. Very familiar to me. I had diner in that very old and beautiful wooden hotel in Balestrand.
I always have enough food and drinks with me; just in case. We didn’t completely keep to the speed limit either, only in builder areas.
I normally do too - but we expected to find much more shops along the way to stock up so we started off with not carrying too much...
Breathtaking scenery! Sometimes the little surprises in a trip can be some of the best. Taking a small local road and then finding such beautiful scenery was a treat. After watching your Norway series, I have decided I MUST visit. P.S. Thank you for stopping to fly the drone to show us that beautiful waterfall even though you were starving at the time. 😄 Now that is dedication to sharing your adventure!

Beautiful videography of beautiful places. Thank you for sharing them with us. I'm guessing, though, that the 1200GS feels heavy on some of the smaller roads. You navigate the weight well, nonetheless.
I dont mind the weight as long as the bike drives and I dont have to go more challenging offroaf tracks - for this journey it was indeed perfect!

The bikes look great and I love motorcycle touring ,got to Venice this year on a Tracer 700 but I’m steadily convinced that I could go even smaller still when you actually assess your solo riding journeys.

@@Got2Go , thats only charming, to have accent and try out language. You should have heard me when in Germany. I always challenge my self to begin the conversation with my bad germany language skill. But it does not take many seconds before the Germans ask back: Do you speak english. I then realise that my Deutsch sprache sehr slecht ist :-) Ich hat Deutch in die shule gelernt, aber nicht sehr gut alst du hier sehn kan.

A cool combination of good looking rider, good roads and beautiful sceneries .... that must have been one great ride, Lea. Just a suggestion ... (like me) most of your viewers must be wondering what kind of traditional Norwegian food/meals y'all ate along the way.
At this point we didn’t have so much typical Norwegian food yet - we always arrived very late, we’re happy that we found anything at all and actually never came over anything like a traditional restaurant for lunch. Seafood is big - you will probably see some of those in the next episodes. And in Sweden I made a lot of videos about my favorite traditional Swedish food. 😍😍😍
(My travel partner once tried whale - which is very Norwegian - but I didn’t show that because I don’t think it’s right to eat whale).

Do you use Waze for navigation? It usually allerts you about speed controll cameras and sometimes even about temporary police points with laser guns. It is about your concern of speed ticket.
