If you suspect someone grew up in St. Louis in the '70s or '80s, just start singing this and see if they join in. It is the only true test.

I just broke out in goosebumps seeing this again. I remember going to the drive-in, as a kid, back in the 70s. We would always get restless waiting for the movie to start and would be told to be patient or we could just go home. Got it...mouth shut. As we circled the car, kicking the gravel, the sky would slowly darken ultimately resulting in dozens of car horns honking in unison as a demand to start the movie! Then, suddenly, with a still darkened screen, the pulsating bass line pumped out of the speaker and we had to wait no longer. In less than a minute, we would see the Wehrenberg crown enter in from the right and ease into the middle like a magic code saying "Here we go". That was such a great time to grow up...I miss it.

We would go to Midrivers Mall growing up to see our movies. Then there was the Dollar theater right off the highway. But I remember sitting in the theater while this them was playing with the grainy audio and the occasional BOOM when they changed tracks (i guess), staring at a blank screen until the logo slowly edged up near the end. It signaled to me that I was really at the movies about to have a real movie experience. The theme was stupid, but it's forever burned into the nostalgic part of my brain. Thanks for posting.

I seem to remember that the original version of this had some other junk that showed on the screen before the Wehrenberg Theatres logo and name appeared at the end. This was later removed and replaced with a black screen like what is shown here--only the logo and name at the end were left intact. Probably not much chance that the original still exists anywhere (at least not on the internet) but that is the version I would love to see again.

No, when they went to the silly whisper theme in the 90's they sold a cassette tape of the old theme.

For some reason I remember one similar to this theme, but before the familiar whispering theme. However I may be thinking of the old Dickinson Theaters theme. The problem with that is I cannot find any recordings of the old Dickinson Theaters themes anywhere. Eh, I'll just keep driving myself crazy over it. Could be fun. :)

Wait... do you mean that you re-recorded the entire song? However you did this, I really appreciate it... actually one of my favorite pieces of music from my childhood! Thanks!

@JohnathanPozzi not true. I just learned that Wehrenberg had at least one theater in Flagstaff! Then there is Cedar Rapids Iowa as well.

The Eradicator It is. Probably one of the nicer buildings in their chain besides Ronnie's and St. Charles. Marcus Theaters bought Wehrenberg but plan to keep the name intact. I'd love to see this come back as the black screen intro FWIW.

The only thing missing is the fart-like audio sound at the end!
I need this as my ringtone, STAT! But how?

The "Ba-ba-ba-ba..." part sounds like the 70s theme from To Tell The Truth

Google search a site called The Transfer Station out of CA (I tried to post the link, but YT won't let me. They will transfer film to video. Send them that coming attraction and opening leader tape you've got, post in on You Tube and you'll be an instant HERO!
