Every time Greg Marcus gets through one of his dumb skits before a movie, I loudly whisper "Wehrenberg", & the people around me laugh for the first time since he started talking.
As much as I miss this intro, I'm kind of glad Marcus took over. Our theater was so run down. The renovations Marcus has made are incredible, looks like an entirely different theater!
I only went to a Wehrenberg Theatre once in my life (back in 2006 to see "Invincible" with my high school Football team which was playing an out-of-town game in St. Louis the next day), but that "Wehrenberg...Wehrenberg Theatresssss" jingle was one of the prettiest jingles I'd ever heard and (based on just a single hearing of it in a theatre) will be etched in my mind for the rest of my life.
This intro was my childhood and my favorite theater just did the same thing. I don't get the same magical feeling I used to get, just feels so empty and bland now
I've noticed that last week when I walked in Ronnie's to see the new Predator movie and u know it's bad when part of the people looking at u like u nuts while singing the new version of wehrenberg theater and u see the Marcus symbol. Talkin bout someone feeling dumb as fuck but I still love wehrenberg
The last time I heard this theme was when my family and I went to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story back in December 2016, less than month before Wehrenberg was bought out by Marcus. God this intro was so damn epic! Now when you see a movie at Marcus, you get an intro with some bland old white man reminding you to buy a $12 cup of Pepsi. My Dad and I both got a voice memo of the theme from the last time I heard it in theaters, and we always listen to it before we see something at Marcus to stay in spirit. People from the St. Louis area who know this tune should receive a medal.

I was 17 when Campbell 16 closed in Springfield, and grew up hearing this tune every time we went to the movies. Alamo was a worthy replacement, but sometimes still miss this part of my childhood.

This stupid dumbass theme song has stuck into my brain ever since I left college and I have to show people not from Missouri so they can’t gaslight me and say there’s no way that this existed. of all the things I remember from college, this is one of the few things that stuck.
It was so sad when they replaced this masterpiece of my childhood with Marcus and Wehrenberg shaking hands in a theatre, like “haha yes they approve of us buying them out and changing *everything*”, and now they don’t even play that clip anymore. I haven’t been to the theatres since before the pandemic, but when I did go the ticket prices nearly doubled, and though the seating is a lot nicer, idk if it’s worth it without the experience Wehrenberg gave us.
I miss it I’ve played it 3 times now I can’t let it go. If Marcus theaters hadn’t bought out Ronnie’s I’d be there in a heart beat. It was just renovated, though, so it may have fully converted now. Which probably means no more intro:(. There was an old joke while I was growing up in the 2000s, spoken to the tune of the intro, "Where is Bert? Bert's at the theater!" We didn't know what we had until it was gone.
Such a great intro to movies. I remember the sound a bit differently from when I was younger. It almost seems like the sound is delayed by a couple seconds. For instance, the first "Wehrenberg" should sync up with the WEHRENBERG text flashing on screen. Another one would be the "bahs" beginning right when the og Ronnies Drive In popped up with the transition to the new Ronnies lining up with the change in the music.
