Hello everyone, I just want to say that I know I made a mistake about the last show, Newhart. I now know (after many, many comments) that I put in the incorrect show’s cast picture. Please forgive me about the error. Since this video is, well, uploaded, I cannot change the picture. I do, however, appreciate all of the constructive criticism I’ve been getting because it will allow me to make better and more accurate videos in the future! :) Also I know that some of the TV shows I put into the video could be considered 70s shows. My way of thinking for where to put what TV show is what decade has the majority. For example, if a TV show first aired in 1978 and ended in 1983, then I would put that show into the 80s version, and not the 70s version. Like I said before, I do understand why people would think it’s a 70s show, considering it started in the 70s. But in my opinion, I would put the show into the decade with the majority. If a TV show first aired in 1978 and ended in 1981, then I would decide where to put it based on which decade the TV show would be best associated with, however sometimes I’m wrong with my placements. As always, if I do have any wrong information about a show or topic, then feel free to inform me in the comments section. :)
Song Trivia The Newhart cast picture isn’t wrong. Psychologist Bob Hartley of The Bob Newhart Show dreamed he was a innkeeper in Vermont and his name was Dick Louden. At the end of that 8 year long and very strange dream, he woke up in bed with his wife Emily back in Chicago. The cast of Newhart was only a figment of his imagination. th-cam.com/video/ZgdUWXf8jJk/w-d-xo.html
Is it just me, or does this make anyone else feel happy and sad at the same time? Brings back so many memories and missing those days, but glad that I got to grow up then.
Initially I was sad because knowing all these shows made me think I was old. But then I realized, What privilege to have grown up during the time and the shows!
It's funny, I was in college from 1991-1994 and the rule for watching the TV in the graduate men's dorm was news, sports . . . and "The Cosby Show." Can you guess what the majority of the students looked like?
Im an Aussie 80s Kid.... we had the best shows and cartoons............... I watched about 90% of these shows and all the episodes growing up.... how crazy is that ?........
It’s amazing how listening to these theme songs you tear up reminiscing!! You can see your loved ones who passed on, landline phone with the long cord, antenna on top of the tv and the house you were raised in that looked so big but now you realize how small it was..I miss my grandparents so much..😢
im an Aussie 80s Kid.... I miss the 80s soo much.................. Its funny.... I do not miss the 90s or 2000s.... but I want to go back to the 80s...........
You'll never understand how desperately these shows were needed in my home. This was some of the only relief from an abusive alcoholic mother. Even now at 40 this is therapeutic
@@tomarobinson1486 as a Aussie kid, I remember missing school in the morning because Australia was winning the Americas Cup race in 1983... it was such a great deal over here at the time, I think many kids missed school on that day
Kids today have no idea how excited we got when these songs played! No DVR, no rewind, no smartphones or iPads or social media, we just watched and enjoyed the show! The best of times
Stingray is my favourite badass intro. Followes by Airwolf. And from the level of awesome coolness I simply can't decide between Miami Vice and Magnum P.I. th-cam.com/video/pgh8-lia6l0/w-d-xo.html
Hearing these makes me want to cry because I miss the 80's so much. I wish I could go back.. Things were better and simpler. I wish our kids today could experience the life we had growing up in the 80's. Everything was better!
Literally the best time to grow up…the garbage tv today is a reflection of how good we had it, and we didn’t even know it. People today don’t understand having to be in front of the tv at a certain time or you missed the show and running for food at the commercials…damn
The simplicity of life back then😇...I almost wanna cry right now ....there was no internet or cellphones....just quality time with your family around the TV enjoying life .....we will NEVER get those times back😢😢😢😢😢😢
I'm very thankful to have been apart of this era , like you very good memories even if they weren't all good , I miss being young for sure , I find what is hard being older is watching all these actors and actresses passing away ,people we grew up with and idolize , just leaving us ,it's like a family member passing each time or hearing something horrific happened to them , that's hard to accept , but still enjoy the memories with the help of the music and what the writers and actors and actresses gave us all those years
Does everyone else get a different emotion depending on what theme was playing? Truly an amazing time for me as a kid growing up in the 80s and watching these shows.
its funny, because for some of us the show theme songs means it was bed time lol... I use to like the action shows the best, so like Knight Rider, A-Team, Mac Gyver so on always brings back memories Even Star Trek.... there was one where there was a hand in space reaching out to the Enterprise, and I hid behind the lounge chair because it was scary lol.... I remember it like yesterday....
I say that Everytime. Put you right back in that point of time. That's The only way I know how to live. I gotta stay back there. Keeps my sanity. I watch all old movies and shows and I listen to all the old songs. A world when no matter what was going on, you had music movies and those sitcoms🧘🏾🙏💕🥴
That was Golden Girls for me. I still know the song though, mom might have made me go to bed but she didn't make me sleep! I stayed up and listened to it. :D
For me, that’s “Benny Hill” - if my dad and step-mom were watching that, and I was still up, I could expect to hear them say “what are you still doing up?!” with an articulated interrobang.
From Spain... it's incredible how American TV shows marked our childhoods, after dinner we seated around the TV and enjoyed these entertainment series.
To this day I can recite the speech that opens the A-Team theme song (narrated by Lyle Waggoner) word for word. You should see people's faces when I do it...
Man, I'm 42 and I am getting so emotional hearing these Tv tunes, that's crazy. I guess because father has passed on at 64 it reminds me of the times he was there,😭 No, one can touch these classics and not forgotten! THE 80'S 👏🏽💪🏾
This video is nostalgic all over the place, but in retrospect a whole load of these shows were …not good. And there are so many good recent shows…though maybe mostly cartoons. Don't get caught in the nostalgia trap of thinking everything was great.
Yes, i somehow got the feeling, that shows after the 90s got more and more soulless and less wholesome. When i look into our german free TV now, i get the feeling, that the producers don't want intelligent audience. They want to sell cheap products with scandals and aren't interested anymore in making good TV. :/
Why on Earth is someone, who didn't live in the 80s, a fool?! It's not as if someone can influence his or her date of birth. (and yeah: grammar is a bitch)
the 80s were the "best" decade in many ways! The TV series were the best, and the music even more! ;-) But the best thing about the 80s is and remains that the internet didn't exist before
you are 1,000% correct in everything you said here. One good thing about the internet is that we can see and hear those shows anytime we want now and reminisce..... ahhhhhhh! :-)
What is with you Luddites and your anti-internet meme? The Internet has vastly improved our lives in so many ways. I couldn't do without it. And I doubt you could either.
I sometimes get nostalgic for the Saturday morning garbage we used to watch. Zigmund and the Sea Monsters comes to mind. A couple of years ago, Netflix had Star Trek the animated series so I bought some Cap't Cruch Peanut Butter cereal and I would put that on on a Saturday morning and watch that while eating my captain crunch. Took me right back to 1973 for a good 22 minutes!!! Now if I could just stay there.
TGIF !!! 🥳🥳🤸 Thats how I spent many of my early teen Friday nights !! Feel like my kids 21 & 17 really missed out !! I did watch the reboot of Full House with my daughter when it aired on Netflix
In my opinion the 80s was the best decade for movies, music, and television. Things were simpler and much better. You actually had to have talent to be a celebrity in those days.
Exactly!... even as a Aussie 80s Kid, we had the best shows, cartoons... and yeah, things were soo much simpler and were better days for sure........ When I was 5 years old, I was doing errands around town for my mother... I walked to school on my own about 1-2kms away... kids cant do that these days.................
The current landscape of the entertainment industry lacks the uniqueness and exceptional abilities that were once associated with celebrities. Nowadays, it seems like they do not put in the same amount of effort or showcase genuine talent. Furthermore, the rise of TH-camrs without any real talent has further diluted the essence of true skill and ability.
All due respect that would be the the 70s sir. I say that as someone barely alive during the 70s and grew up in the 80s and 90s. 1970s soul music alone trumps all.
Jeez, you guys are really hitting hard with the nostalgia here. Weird that the ones I thought I would know I am missing, and the ones I thought I would miss, I am guessing. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had quite a bit of emotions hearing all of these songs. It's like I've gone into a time machine.
This was a great nostalgia trip. It’s amazing as you are listening to these, the memories and the emotions flow. And these songs are not only catchy but great pieces of music too

It's nice knowing you grew up in a time where every stupid thing you did will be lost to the mists of time and not permanently recorded and posted for all to see.
Born in 1975, the 80s was such an interesting decade where I went from a small child to a teenager. These songs hold so much memorial value. Each one took me back to a different weeknight, hanging out with my mom (RIP) and not realizing I was living the best years of my life. Thank you so much for posting this. It was delightfully painful to get through.
I was born in 1971 but for some reason I do better at these things when run the ones from the '60's than the '70's or '80's. Maybe because if it was made in the '60's I've been watching it longer, I don't know.
I know I'm not the only one singing along with all the songs. Miss the 80s. Watching the Golden Girls right now. If "Married....With Children" were on today, people's heads would explode.
@@candicelitrenta8890 Technially that show did not survive into the 80s. After Jean left the show (and Edith died) they did a spin-off called Archie's Place. But All in the Family ended in 1979. Great show.
God, this is amazing!! Thank you for putting it together! My middle school and high school years have come flooding back to me! These shows have many beautiful memories attached with family and friends. A much simpler time back then. I miss them greatly. Did anyone else learn the Hill Street Blues theme song on the piano like I did? I BEGGED my teacher to take a break from the classical stuff, so that I could learn it! Ha!
I thank God I grew up during the 80's!! We had great times - full of great people & great music!! These shows bring back many precious memories!!👏🏾👏🏾🥰🥰
I could literally feel and see my self watching these shows. It brought me back with happy tears. I could feel the outside breeze and the smell of house and nature now when each of these songs came on. Hard to explain but I just felt the moment. Wish I could go back!! 80 where the best decade.
Man I guessed every last one. I lived my life through these shows. If I just had to learn from my FAMILY 🙂 I would have NEVER made it. EVERYONE on these shows helped raise me🧘🏾🙏💕
They had the 70's Bob Newhart cast photo. The Newhart 80's cast featured his co stars Mary Frann, Peter Scholari , Tom Postman. I know I forgotten I some cast members, but those are the ones I remember off hand name wise.
I realize not only were the shows very awesome but the theme songs were too, this video really brings back to some great memories :) thank you so much for making it.
Hearing the theme song to Taxi gave me a very strange, somehow empty, anxious feeling. I was only about 4 years old when I remember it coming on the TV late at night. Probably one of my earliest TV memories along with Benson and Mork and Mindy.
Same. Every time I hear the taxi theme song it reminds me of when I was an only child and my parents were living in these brick apartments. Before the bought their house. I still drive by those apartments every time I go to my home town they look awful now. 😭
Exactly, it seems like those older shows not only entertained, but also gave a lesson about life within each episode, something which today’s shows rarely do
Actually it was the writers strike that brought upon reality tv. Networks then realized it was cheaper to go unscripted, no writers or actors to pay, cheaper to produce and they could charge just as much for ad time.
But the 2000s has had some high quality shows with top rated stars. It brought Mad Men, Sopranos, Downton Abbey etc. It's just these shows weren't on CBS, ABC and NBC. You had to have HBO, Showtime etc
Best TV shows from that time frame (in no particular order): 1. I Love Lucy 2. The Dick Van Dyke Show 3. Three's Company 4. Growing Pains 5. Family Ties 6. Who's the Boss? 7. Charles in Charge 8. Full House 9. Beverly Hills 90210 10. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Dukes of Hazzard, The A Team, MacGyver and Knight Rider I literally took less than a second to recognise, they stand out so distinctly, some others only a second or two more. Dynasty and Dallas were so iconic, I recognised them immediately without ever having seen an episode. Really nice memories.
"Dukes of Hazzard, The A Team, MacGyver and Knight Rider I literally took less than a second to recognise" Same here, plus Cheers and Magnum Pi, Taxi, married with Children and Love boat (I watched too much TV as a kid). Oh and I hope you didn't pause on Duke of Hazzard to check out Daisy one last time! :)
@@magicslave3066 I strongly disagree with you some late 50's along.with the 60'& 70'S & 80's theme songs were much much better than the 1990's January 16,2020
Listening to these theme songs just takes me back to so many different parts and scenes in my early years. I had my mom, I was young, happy, had friends to play with, school was cool and I was happy to come home after school to watch these awesome 80 shows. I feel so sad and happy at the same time. These shows help keep me sane in a way

what happened to airwolf or street hawk. metal mickey simon and simon. mash but not sure some are even 80's and not other decades and yes a number of them listed below. The only problem with some is we did not get them in the UK.
@@davidsworld5837 AirWolf is definitely in the 80's. I had asked the same thing. At least I have all the episodes on DVD. It was a bit far fetched but I liked it none the less .
To be 100% honest, I associate Taxi, Love Boat and Diff'rent Strokes to be 70s shows since they started in the late 70s and ended by 82 or 83 mostly... When I think of the 80s I think of Cheers, Dukes of Hazzard, Newhart, Mork & Mindy, Married with Children, the A-Team, and Knight Rider... these were the shows I watched as a kid. Also Wonder Years gives me more of a 90s vibe... (oh. and yes, I know Dukes started in 79)... But what REALLY takes me back to the 80s is watching those amazing movies. Raiders, Temple of Doom, ET, Short Circuit, Gremlins, Return of the Jedi, Back to the Future... I could go on and on... I don't think any decade had movies like we had them. It was the pinnacle of the art form if you ask me. Before CG, oversexualization and hyper-violence replaced the need to write a GOOD MOVIE.
Dang your right about the movie 🎥 🍿 issue. Everything they did to make the movie had to be real and from scratch and had to use wit and genuine talent!
Kind of weird. Shows that started in 78 and went into the early 80s feel like 70s shows to you. But a show that started in 88 and went into the early 90s feels like the 90s to you.
That song has a way of cutting deep. It brings to the surface all the feelings of growing up and all the memories. It was an amazing show. My mom was strict and didn't let me watch it for a time, but she finally caved and watched an episode with me and completely changed her mind.
Just a few suggestions for next time..... Fall Guy, Designing Women,Moonlighting,Who's the boss, Quantum Leap, Chips,Punky Brewster I'm a kid of the 80's. I watched alot of tv !!!
21 Jump Street, ALF, Bosom Buddies, Dear John, Doogie Howser, Family Matters, Full House, Greatest Amercan Hero....I could go on and on. Although most people would argue that Family Matters is a 90s show, it actually first aired in 89. Then you could have bonus questions involving 80s mini series such as V.

*Aside from the nostalgia factor (I'm 43 so pretty much all of these are my jam), what I always found kind of cool and interesting about the theme songs from shows of the 80s (with exception of the instrumental ones), is that pretty much the whole concept and background for the show and its characters, was always laid out in the lyrics of the theme song.*
Great list! Thank you for the fun game down memory lane. You did however leave out my all time favorite theme song from Simon & Simon. Guess you might be saving the best for part 2. Thanks again :)
As much as I miss the 80s. The tv shows, movies, music and the fun times I had as a teen. I would not wanna go back. The bad things I would have too relive in the 90s and early 2000s what keeps me from wanting to go back
Thank you for this! The 80s had some of the best TV shows and theme songs. Wonder Years, Diff’rent Strokes, Bosom Buddies, Dukes of Hazzard, A-Team, Knight Rider, MacGyver, and Family Ties...never missed a week. Appreciated Cheers and Taxi more as an adult.
Great observation. I the same there were certain shows that I did get to appreciate much later. I’m not sure if anyone agrees but there’s also some shows like Cheers where I enjoyed post Diane not pre-Diane which was the latter six years of the show.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. All the wonderful memories come flooding back associated with each programme. What a wonderful trip down memory lane.😍😍😍
Same here, even tho i was a kid in the 80's I remember all those shows listed, and then there were some he didn't list such as Benson, Moon Lighting, and Give Me A Break, etc, etc.
It's a weird phenomenon but I think having fewer choices made us that much more glued to those 13 channels full of these objectively godawful shows. And let's be honest, they were truly horrendous. They only reason we have good memories of them is because we were kids and that's what we were doing while we were kids. Because my god, do they not hold up at all lol.
Very thankful to have grown up in the 80's and the memories these bring back. Instantly took me back to my childhood hearing these songs from these shows. Imagine, this next generation will remember looking at their Iphone and social media all day long as their childhood memories
I'm pausing to write these as they play and I guess them...... 1. Growing Pains (too easy!) 2. Cheers (of course!) 3. Golden Girls (Probably my favorite) 4. The Wonder Years 5. Family Ties (*siiigh* Michael J Fox!!) 6. Married with Children 7. Cosby Show 8. Mork and Mindy (How can you not know with that initial "Nanu, Nanu!" lol) 9. I couldn't place this one until I saw that answer, of course, and then I remembered... lol.... Taxi 10. Different Strokes 11. Facts of Life 12. Perfect Strangers 13. Dukes of Hazard (my brother's favorite show) 14. Love Boat 15. Different World 16. I guessed Dallas, but I was wrong. It's Dynasty... close enough? lol I was way too young for that show 17. No clue! Ok, it's getting harder 18. You stumped me.... no clue 19. Silver Spoons. Good one! 20. The A Team! Loved it!! :) 21. Knight Rider? Nope.... Magnum PI. Dang! 22. I knew it and was humming along, but I couldn't place it... not even a little. But wow! Too Close For Comfort is a real rare one :) 23. Can't believe I didn't get MIami Vice! I had no clue, though. 24. Ok, there's Dallas... lol 25. WKRP... great song! 26. Knight Rider :) 27. St Elmo's? nope... Dang there's a lot! I didn't realize that when I started this, lol... 28. Don't know at all... 29. Don't know this one either :( 30. Ugh, I don't know... Well, if we've learned anything here, it's that we had some ahhhmazing theme songs in the 80's! What a time to grow up! :)
17 was Falcon Crest (staring Ronald Regan’s first wife), 18 was Knots Landing (with a young Heather Locklear), 27 was Hill Street Blues (the OG cop show), 28 was L.A Law (precursor to Law and Order), 29 was McGyver (just rebooted) and 30 was Newhart (despite having the wrong cast photo...best series finale EVER)

Music is the closest thing we'll ever have to a time machine.
The theme songs for Dynasty, Dallas, Falcon Crest & Knots Landing will always mean “it’s past my bed time” to me.
Those were the 3 I got wrong.
Same, OMG. I got almost all of them right except the ones that were past my bedtime. 😂
I remember back in "those" days the channels would actually go off air. As if to say, "time to go to bed." :)
When the majority of these played I didn’t want them to end so quickly. God nostalgia is a powerful thing.

From Spain... it's incredible how American TV shows marked our childhoods, after dinner we seated around the TV and enjoyed these entertainment series.
Just when you just want to curl up and cry about your lost youth... The A-Team theme song comes on and makes it all better!
"I love it when a plan comes together."
And then to follow that up with Magnum, P.I. is simply icing on the cake.
Lmao good one
For me it was the Cosby Show. Very groovy song!
To this day I can recite the speech that opens the A-Team theme song (narrated by Lyle Waggoner) word for word. You should see people's faces when I do it...
What a great time for TV. I nailed all the sitcoms, but the night time soap operas and dramas were never my thing.
Agree there. Wasn't into the soapy ones myself either ..

I miss those Friday and Saturday nights when my family and I would all sit in front of the TV and watch these classics.
And I loved that the shows actually had theme songs/music...I can't think of any shows nowadays that have theme songs...they just come on! :)
We all had our own spots where we would watch the show
Amen! Couldn’t agree more! Especially Dallas my personal favorite show. Larry Hagmen was the best
Amen... the music, the shows. It was a great time that I will always remember with a smile.
All due respect that would be the the 70s sir. I say that as someone barely alive during the 70s and grew up in the 80s and 90s. 1970s soul music alone trumps all.

The Golden Age of broadcast television was the 50s-90s from Honeymooners to Seinfeld. Cable and reality shows wrecked it in the 2000s.

Right, are they going to miss the stupid pointless youtuber kid that played with toys? Did stupid ridiculously stupid stuff?

what happened to airwolf or street hawk. metal mickey simon and simon. mash but not sure some are even 80's and not other decades
and yes a number of them listed below.
Mork and Mindy was 78.
Kind of weird. Shows that started in 78 and went into the early 80s feel like 70s shows to you. But a show that started in 88 and went into the early 90s feels like the 90s to you.
The Wonder Years..god I loved that show when I was a kid for some reason. That song really hit me.
Me too
Same lol
That song has a way of cutting deep. It brings to the surface all the feelings of growing up and all the memories. It was an amazing show. My mom was strict and didn't let me watch it for a time, but she finally caved and watched an episode with me and completely changed her mind.
Its on Hulu 🙂
Same here!
This brought back so many memories...only ones missing was Heat of The Night, 227, Whose The Boss, and Amen....Good Job 👍🏾
Just a few suggestions for next time..... Fall Guy, Designing Women,Moonlighting,Who's the boss, Quantum Leap, Chips,Punky Brewster
I'm a kid of the 80's. I watched alot of tv !!!
@@larbear2835 lol. Get a life dude
@@larbear2835 and i guess you were never taught manners!!
Don't forget MacGyver.
airwolf, hardcastle and McCormick,Simon and simon, hill st.blues,Spencer for hire, mike hammer, hunter dont get me started I'm only warming up.
This brought back a lot of memories. I miss the 80's.

Thank you for the fun journey down memory lane! I miss the 80's
This is so sad and so happy at the same time. I never wanted to leave the 80’s never , anyone else get sad bc you can’t go back 😞
As much as I miss the 80s.

The 80s...when the Movies, Music, Cartoons and TV Shows were at the height of human civilization...how I miss thee
You are so right
Great list and a fun listen. Miss those great shows and theme songs. Missing two of my all time favorites: Moonlighting and Night Court.
_Night Court_ is back on with Dan Feelding and Bernadette.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. All the wonderful memories come flooding back associated with each programme. What a wonderful trip down memory lane.😍😍😍
Didn't realize I watched so much tv in the 80's, lol. Thanks for posting this it was fun, brought back a lot of memories
Mork and Mindy was from the 70's not the 80's
Same here, even tho i was a kid in the 80's I remember all those shows listed, and then there were some he didn't list such as Benson, Moon Lighting, and Give Me A Break, etc, etc.
It's a weird phenomenon but I think having fewer choices made us that much more glued to those 13 channels full of these objectively godawful shows. And let's be honest, they were truly horrendous. They only reason we have good memories of them is because we were kids and that's what we were doing while we were kids. Because my god, do they not hold up at all lol.

Knight Rider, The A Team, MacGyver, The Dukes of Hazzard, Magnum P.I etc were real good tv shows
Very thankful to have grown up in the 80's and the memories these bring back. Instantly took me back to my childhood hearing these songs from these shows. Imagine, this next generation will remember looking at their Iphone and social media all day long as their childhood memories
I'm pausing to write these as they play and I guess them......
1. Growing Pains (too easy!)
2. Cheers (of course!)
3. Golden Girls (Probably my favorite)
4. The Wonder Years
5. Family Ties (*siiigh* Michael J Fox!!)
6. Married with Children
7. Cosby Show
8. Mork and Mindy (How can you not know with that initial "Nanu, Nanu!" lol)
9. I couldn't place this one until I saw that answer, of course, and then I remembered... lol.... Taxi
10. Different Strokes
11. Facts of Life
12. Perfect Strangers
13. Dukes of Hazard (my brother's favorite show)
14. Love Boat
15. Different World
16. I guessed Dallas, but I was wrong. It's Dynasty... close enough? lol I was way too young for that show
17. No clue! Ok, it's getting harder
18. You stumped me.... no clue
19. Silver Spoons. Good one!
20. The A Team! Loved it!! :)
21. Knight Rider? Nope.... Magnum PI. Dang!
22. I knew it and was humming along, but I couldn't place it... not even a little. But wow! Too Close For Comfort is a real rare one :)
23. Can't believe I didn't get MIami Vice! I had no clue, though.
24. Ok, there's Dallas... lol
25. WKRP... great song!
26. Knight Rider :)
27. St Elmo's? nope...
Dang there's a lot! I didn't realize that when I started this, lol...
28. Don't know at all...
29. Don't know this one either :(
30. Ugh, I don't know...
Well, if we've learned anything here, it's that we had some ahhhmazing theme songs in the 80's! What a time to grow up! :)
I wish they had Remington Steele
This is nothing, the 80's cartoon themes were more numerous, great stuff there too.
I got 16 out of 30, the ones I missed were familiar but I still missed
You did not know "MacGyver"? My favorite 80s series ever!
In the middle of a pandemic, go back the to good ole days. Real actors and actresses, real shows, and real good times!!!!!!
