Let me set the scene. It’s the early ‘00s. You’re a kid living in the St Louis/ Metro-East area, and you wanna go see a movie. Now there’s no AMC or Cinemark around. There’s only the good old reliable Wehrenberg Theaters. You buy your ticket, get some snacks, some popcorn and a large soda. You get to your theater, you get a good seat, sit through all the previews, and then you see……THIS!!!!!!
There was other wherenbergs in Missouri at the time as well in Poplar Bluff and Springfield which are the ones I went to as a little kid the one in Springfield held on pretty long till around 2017.
I’ve been searching for this video for decades. Literally no one has seen this footage since it was replaced in 2006. And yet I remembered nearly every frame. Man that’s powerful.
I miss Wehrenberg, something from my childhood and teens that is gone. That and the repeating Wehrenberg was fun to join in and repeat. You'll be missed and not easily forgotten.
yesterday at the St. Louis stop of the My Brother, My Brother and Me live tour, before the main show one of the brothers (Griffin) and his wife (Rachel) spent some time talking about stuff from/related to the city and Rachel, having grown up there, had the sound guy/stage manager play this song (probably this exact video) for Griffin. his reaction (paraphrased): "My life is separated into two distinct sections - before I heard this, let's call it what it is, this hymn, and after." when she told him that they used to sell cassettes of it in the lobby he immediately, on stage, went on eBay to find one, which granted was a bit and he exaggerated his reaction for humor but he seemed to enjoy it.
I was at that show and I wish we could have filmed Griffin's reaction to share with the world. But knowing that's a little slice of WonderfulPod us STL folks get to treasure fill my heart with such joy. Rachel was so lovely. We were blessed lol. And seeing your comment, just ❤️
@@tkkenny104 I was there too! Came here to say the same thing. I love the mbmbam audience, everyone seems so kind! I had an AWFUL day leading up to the show and specifically the Wehrenberg theme bit made every single problem just melt away. By the end of the night I was on cloud nine. So glad we all got to experience such a great night together!!
I replied to the other reply on here but wanted to repeat the sentiment to you!! Glad we all got to enjoy such an awesome return of live McElroys all together!!
I was born in 89, started going to movies in 95. My parents took me to the re-release of the og starwars and I went with a grade school buddy to see Lost World of Jurassic Park(2). I have missed this intro since they got rid of it 😢
I used to work in a wehrenberg theatre before they remodeled into Marcus; I wish I would’ve asked to see the intro of this but I’m glad I never did! You’re awesome for uploading this
Repeat viewer here and man thank you so much for uploading. I loved when started in the theater. I always got chills hearing it start. It truly got you pumped up for the movie. I was so sad when they replaced. This hold a special place in my heart.
Thank you! Remember this so vividly in Prescott, AZ (especially the Whitney Houstonesque “uh-huhhh”). And yes, I even bought the cassette tape from the box office! Wish I still had it…
I grew up also going to that theaters behind Frontier Village that sat above the shopping center and before when I was very young when the theaters was on Gurley Street back in the mid 90s
Hell yes! Go Clayton Greyhounds! After the movie, off to Manhattan Pizza and then Medicare Glazer’s for some candy! Maybe Shaw Park for a dip. THAT was my childhood…
Jamestown 14 Cine. My visits there ended early as I had to move away. 7 years later in 2014, I heard it closed. Fast forward to 2023, I know demolition just started
I’m unfortunately too young for this, i grew up on the 100th anniversary theme. It’s a real shame that they got rid of it when AMC took over. I miss it
