    I didn't use gum paste,but I will keep trying .Thanks for the replying

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the key. The fondant alone is a little too soft and won't hold it's shape while drying. You could use Tylose powder instead of the gumpaste. Just fllow the driections on the container of Tylose. This will help to firm up the fondant.

    How thick did you roll the fondant? Also thick do you roll your fondant to cover you cakes?

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dora Melton Hi Dora. About 1/8 if an inch thick . Maybe even a little thinner than that. The thinner the better.

    Where do I get the right sized sticks they look essential to the success if making the drapes.Is there anything special about the fondant to be used. Thanks very much for this video and a much quicker way to get an elegant finish.

      +bluewren “bluewren8” Reilly Hi These are 12 inch Wilton brand dowels that aI purchased at Michaels craft store. They are 1/4 inch side. You could also purchase dowels at crafts stores that are longer and of varying widths. Fondant is Satin Ice brand and I mixed it with Satin Ice gumpaste . 2/3 fondant and 1/3 gumpaste.Your welcome and thank you for visiting :-)

    would home made marshmellow fondant work for this?

    • @DancewithLorelie
      @DancewithLorelie 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +NatSkie86 yes as long as you mix it with gumpaste. Fondant alone is too soft.

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +NatSkie86 The ratio of fondant to gumpaste is in the video :-) Thanks

      Francis Eric Santoyas You probably could. Give it a try Francis and let us know how it goes :-) They may be a little tinner and not even, but you could probably make it work.

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tina Childress Yes for the drapes here I mixed 1/3 gumpaste and 2/3 fondant.

      +Tina Childress Fairly thin Tina yes to make it look like real fabric.

    I try this fondant drapes but it did not come out as beautiful and smooth like urs,and I can't figure why it's so but I only notice that it was so hard for me to use.Please help me out

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Grace, Did you use a mix of fondant and gumpaste? In general, it takes a lot of practice. The fondant has to be pliable without being dry etc. Do you work with fondant a lot? If not I would suggest keeping up the practicing until you are comfortable with it.

    What do you find to be the easiest way to travel/deliver this big of a cake?

    • @CakesWithLorelie
      @CakesWithLorelie  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Remi J For a cake this size or any 4 tiered cake I would deliver it in two sections most likely. It depends on the weight of the cake, what type of vehicle you have, how many tiers, the distance that cake needs to go and the temperature etc. If you would like to see a wedding cake delivery illustrated for you I have done this in my book Wedding Cakes With Lorelie Step-by-Step. Here is the link for you. www.wedding-cakes-for-you.com/make-your-own-wedding-cake.html Thanks Remi.
