Modern Fondant Ruffle Cake | Cake Decorating Tutorial

- In this cake decorating tutorial, I show you how I made this show stopping fondant ruffle cake:) This is a stunner of a modern abstract design for sure! You could do this in any color you would like and it would still be gorgeous. I would consider this more of an intermediate to advanced design. So some fondant experience would come in handy. I did this with a 6' and an 8" cake dummy but using cake would give you the same result. Decorate with flowers or just let it stand alone! Please let me know if you have any questions:)

I don’t comment often on videos but every time I get a new order for a cake I found a tutorial of yours with a similar design and you always put my mind at ease!
I really love how you describe what you are doing as you are doing it. The cake decorating is the focus. I love it! And you have a very pleasant voice too! Very pretty cake, simple, classic and beautiful!

Thank you so much;)
I love, this, cake, I will try it
Lovely ruffle
I love your style of teaching. Thank you for so much variety in cake designs. I saw a comment about music background, but I LOVE not having to listen to background music. It can get so loud and totally unnecessary if you are doing a voice-over for the tutorial. I will be looking for your next tutorial. I LOVE learning new things.
Thank you Joy;) I hear it from both sides. Music is too loud, not enough music🤪. The thing people don't realize is that there is only do far I can turn the music down when I use what youtube offers royalty free. And once it is uploaded you can't change it without loosing your views. Also, you don't know how it will sound until it us published. Makes it kind of hard to judge! So I think I have finally found a good option with the kind of neutral background music and volume that fits. Phew!! Thank you so much for watching my videos. It means the world to me!
@@sophisticakesbymary Yes, I have heard others say they can't control what the sound level is once it is done. Just continue with no music background. :)
Waoooo. So beautiful n neat. Thank u

Beautiful tutorial. I wish to ask that moving the cake upside down and rolling the fondant on the cake, wish to ask is the cake not gonna break? As i know Cake is not that strong
This video is really cool, I really like the way you've put this together. Thank you for sharing. - On a side note, licensed bakers are subject to regulations that prohibit the use of sponges in the kitchen in this fashion.
Depends on which state you live in also.I have been licensed in the state of Iowa for 10 years and I work in the state of Illinois. Vastly different;) in Iowa, if you only use it for cake purposes and wash your equipment, you are fine.
Hola... Muchas gracias por compartir.. saludos desde San Luis Potosí., México..🌷🌺🌼😊👌
Hola mexico!
Woooow
Very very beautiful ❤️🌹😍
Wow. That looks amazing mimo. Would u mind sharing what you used for the ruffles? Is it fondant? Thank you in advance❤
Great video! I was wondering what fondant you used for this?
Magnifique
May God bless the work of your hands
So nice of you
Bling on the lowest part would be pretty also! This design reminds me of the front of a dress.
Yes it would!
😍😍😍
Love this! Could I add these ruffles to buttercream based cake instead of fondant?
Same question ❤
Really love this....and i subscribed hehe😚
Yay!! And thank you;)
Wow
Simply gorgeous :) What kind of fondant did you use? The fondant we have here in Canada is not that manageable at all. It dries quickly regardless of how much shortening, tylose or glicerine you add :(
I prefer marshmallow fondant, but this is actually Satin Ice. I think you can get it on Amazon , but Canada may be different?
Hi love your cake do you put tylo powder in the fondant
Thanks! Yes if the fondant is needing to hold it's shape.
Hi, how can i dry the fondant? mine sweats,i put it in a fridge Because i live in a hot country, many thanks 😢❤
Hola, hermosísima creación, podría titular el vídeo en español?Muchas gracias.Saludos desde Uruguay.
Your cake is beautiful!! 😍 A doubt! What's the name of that double ruler you use to measure?
Thank you! That is a quilting ruler;)
Super👍😍🌷
Your cakes are amazing ❤can you please let me know how do you store fondant cakes if you make them in advance?
Thanks! I store them in my residential fridge. They will have some condensation when they come to room temp, but they will dry. Give it about 2 hours.
😅😂🤣😂😅💯 you really shouldn’t have to, buttttt 👀👀 😅😂
Also, this cake is beautiful, thank you for sharing this 🥰😎
Do you have. A video on how you make your fondant? Do you use tylose? Or do you use premade?
I do;)th-cam.com/video/m3CwzdDM4MI/w-d-xo.html
You are so good! I am crazy jealous! So clean and perfect!..and I kinda missed a little music in the background! lol
You did?;) jk I am still trying to figure that out. I may just record my own and stop worrying about it;) If only I were better at playing my piano!
Lovely. Do u add tylose powder to the raffles
Thanks;) It depends on what kind of fondant I use. Softer fondant like Carma or Satin Ice I do. I find that for this style, Wilton is firm enough without it.
Hi, what is the name of the long wide ruler that you used please?
Hi! I actually got that in the sewing section at Hkbby Lobby! I love that it is transparent and measuent markings right on it.
❤❤❤❤
❤
Thank You🇧🇷
4:44 AM central time ❤️
Beautiful, how thin did u roll your fondant
Thank you;) I usually roll it to about 1/8- 1/4 inch, depending on what I am using it for.
Please what type of ruler did you use? Thank you.
I use a quilting ruler,)
Süper 👍😍🥰🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿
That’s a wonderful job. Can I use marshmallow fondant for thi ruffles?
For sure! That's my favorite. Just add some tylose powder to it.
@@sophisticakesbymary ok thanks a lot. 😍
Amazing!!!😍😍 thank you for sharing ❤️. Please can share your fondant recipe? Thanks so much🙏🏽
Sure! I have a tutorial on that also. Let find the linkth-cam.com/video/m3CwzdDM4MI/w-d-xo.html
I followed thru step by step, I wish I could show you what I did
If we are using dummy cake, can the fondant that cover the dummy get dry enough to store it for a long time...? Because the ruffles are quitely cover all the cover fondant...or should we use cmc or tylose powder for cover the dummy and the ruffles????
That is how I have always done my display cakes;) they can last a very long time.
@@sophisticakesbymary so actually it can dry without using cmc or anything?
Yep!
@@sophisticakesbymary thank you very much😄😄

Where can i buy that green panel?
You can find those in the sewing department of craft stores.;)
What size and how tall are your dummy cakes? Thanks!
They were 6 and 8". 4" tall and 6" tall.
What is that ruler called please
I think you are referring to the quilting/sewing ruller;)
What are the sizes of your cake? I know they are 6in and 8in round but how tall are they?
The top one would be 3 layers and the bottom one probably 5. Kind of depends on how tall your cakes bake up.
So beautiful 💕 i want to be perfect like u.
What fondant do you use?
I do prefer marshmallow fondant, but for my videos I use Satin Ice.
Hi there, and thanks for this tutorial
Hi! I am sorry it wrestled with you:( I would have to guess that maybe there was too much tylose? It is hard to say for sure. What brand of fondant did you use? Some dry faster then others. Or maybe you could have used more shortening when kneeding it? Only other thing I can think of is if it sat too long before thinning the edge out. I hope I am not sounding like I am putting the blame on you🤞
@@sophisticakesbymary Oh, not at all:-) Thank you for your reply
@@pt560 This is how we all learn right? I am not familiar with that brand. I know that Wilton and Satun Ice sometes don't even need tylose. I do prefer marshmallow fondant but I dont have time to make it. And that definitely needs tylose. I think you are probably right about covering it too;)
@@sophisticakesbymary Yes, it is a learning process 😄 I'll try again this weekend and see if it gets better👍😊 have a wonderful week🙌🌺
