Oh yes I LOVE this design. this was a test cake for the wedding cake. I've made two wedding cakes now like this. Lots of work but well worth it. Good luck.

Hi Lorelie! I love this, and it doesn't look that hard. I decorated the kids' birthday cakes years ago, but haven't done any in years. I would like to venture into cakes like this! So pretty! I have a question or two that I'm sure is somewhere in the depths of your website. lol. What ball tool do you recommend? I don't see that in your Amazon store. Plastic or metal? Also, I saw a comment by someone that you have quoted on your website that said not to add milk to your buttercream that will be under fondant. Can you possibly link me to where that is discussed in more detail? Trying to find my courage to jump in! Thanks so much!

It's not hard, just time consuming like most cake decorating projects LOL. I just added the ball tools to my Amazon store page. They are metal which I prefer. I was using a plastic one in the video. They break too easily. Go for the metal. I rarely add milk to my buttercream. In fact I mostly use Italian meringue now. For this video I used the simple buttercream though. There is a quote on this page from a reader. www.wedding-cakes-for-you.com/fondantcakedecorating.html

    How do do flavors mix......

Chocolate goes very nicely with the carrot cake. I know it seems strange but it works. Cinnamon goes well with chocolate (as in a mexican chocolate cake ) For my demos I sometimes use whatever cakes I happen to have in the freezer. When I bake I will have extra batter and bake off a few extras for demos if I don't have an order that week.
