Why did you change the default website htm file? Does IIS need the default site active? Could you have done this exercise with out using the default site?

Do you have a video explaining how to redirect one of your sites to an internal IP address? For instance, I have a site running on IIS and I have another site running internally that is accessed by an IP address. I would like sub1.domain.com to go to my IIS hosted site and sub2.domain.com to redirect to my internal site.

Hello! Thanks for your work at these videos! I have a question. I have 2 sites on my Windows Server 2008 in C:\ (C:\site1 and C:\site2). How can I take them the host names? I want to see the work of Directory Browsing but I suppose it doesn't work with IP only. It needs the host names of sites. Am I right? Will be happy if you help me :)

I think that was the whole point of the video. It is reading the domain name, not the ip address.

Hi Sachin. I have website "dating site" hosted somewhere. But i want to make mysql bigger (maybe like 50gb or more) so that i can have more users and still have the website at the hosting. Is there a way to connect to mysql and extend mysql from my own home. So that i'm not suddently don't have anymore space on my hosting server? If you know what i mean.

Basically yes you can do that you can host your my SQL server on different hosting provider and give the connectionstring in your website for that server and it will work

PorkiestPine Adding domain name under the hostname will not work. you have to buy a domain name so that you can own it and then only you can use it for the publicly accessible website on the Internet.

hi the sites is it public or is only in your windows server?
To be public , first you have to buy a domain name space,or get one for free, second you have to play on your router - port forwarding. :)

what's my issue is i have 3 websites on iis each with different names , then I mapped first one with a domain name says '123.co.uk' and it is working fine locally and outside as well, now what i need to do is mapped second website with another domain example '12-3.co.uk' when I do so my first mapping got disturbed. so how can i map this one so both are working fine. !

On the DNS server you required a static IP and in the client PC is you do not required static IP

If you have two or more domains binded to the same site then you can use URL Rewrite feature "canonical name"
