- How to redirect http to https in IIS 8 using the URL Rewrite module. The URL Rewrite is one of the best ways to redirect http requests to https. it makes sure your website or a part of the website will only be accessed by your customers using SSL. It is better than using Require SSL option in IIS because most of the times users forget to type in the https. So URL Rewrite automatically redirects the user to HTTPS.

Great tutorial. First solution that I've found that actually works! But yes make sure you uncheck "Require SSL" in SSL Settings or you'll have issues.

At the beginning it didnt work, I even went to restart the website lol. To find out it was cache on clients issue. Deleted temporary files and worked great. Thank you very much on the clear tutorial.

Works great on Azure VM of Windows Server 2016! Thanks! I did have to manually install Microsoft Web Platform Installer 5.0 (google it for a link) and then use that to get the new URL Rewrite Module 2.1 as per the video... but it all is there and all works great! I also restarted the website in IIS after the changes but I'm not sure if that is required or not. Didn't hurt!
