      Hey Shiven, you look like Indian.
      Why don't you try 'indian origin meditation' by Indian 'gurus'.
      I am damn confident, that people will find it very useful. You got some people around you, don't fool them, give them best 'things'.
      Your Collab may be useful for you but may not for people you gathered.

    Meditation/mindfulness
    I have learned that meditation is about being mindful of emotions,physical pains,and thoughts. I got myself off Heroin and opiates! I am also diagnosed with PTSD and Bipolar and I do not take any pharmacutical MEDS. Breathe work activates our vagus nerve.🙏💖🕯️

    Vishen, I don't know if there is a scientific answer to your question, "why are people who meditate kinder to each other?" I believe people that meditate are kinder to each other because meditation reconnects us with source energy, and we all come from the same source. I use meditation in different ways. I practice yoga every morning, and I connect breath and movement, I start with a meditation , set and intention, and I finish the practice with meditation. I also learned to meditate while running, during ultra marathons when you get to the point where everything hurts and you want to quit, I use meditation to press on. I can actually make the pain go away and pick up the pace and return to running effortlessly. What I really find cool is when I'm in deep meditation and I enter this state where time awareness stops, I'm coming out of the meditation after 30 minutes and it feels like it was only 5 minutes. Emily, I'm not convinced into hacking sleep. I engage in extreme high intensity sports and I find that I need between 7-8 hours of sleep to recover fully from the previous day. Often I wake up after 3 - 4 hours of sleep to go to the bathroom, and my body is aching and I feel like skipping the next days workout, but then when I go back to sleep and wake up after 7-8 hours of sleep and my body is ready to do it all over again.

      @user-jp1ex2vq6d 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From my experience, meditation isn't as powerful for full recovery in terms of rest, but its better for killing stress. When you meditate you will not get to REM phase, which is crucial for brain and mind, but deep sleep is important for your body. I don't know if the rest for body from meditation and deep sleep is the same.

      Hi Amanda, I describe the step by step process in my article. It's quite long, so just scroll about halfway down, and you'll find under the heading 'What’s the Best Way to Learn to Meditate?' (near a photo of me meditating ;) naturegrooves.com/meditation-as-a-productivity-tool
      I have taken Emily's course and really benefited from it; I personally find it very motivating to commit myself to a course. I'm not too disciplined if I don't have guidance. But you can easily just follow those steps and compare them with other 'how to meditate' videos to find what suits you best. Deepak Chopra, for example, does very similar meditations. It's all based on ancient Indian meditation. Enjoy, and let me know what worked for you via my website if you feel like.

    Vishen, you need to talk less and let the experts in their field talk about their subject peacefully. All I hear in any of mindvalley invited speakers is your voice above them, rushing to give your thoughts and voice. It just does not stop. You take over all of them rushing to give your 2p advice.

      I totally agree with you. Sometimes he doesn’t allow the guests to finish their sentences...he is actually better in this video than on an interview I saw with Dave Asprey of Bulletproof. He constantly interrupted Dave before he could finish his sentences. So annoying. I do enjoy Vishan’s commentary but he should allow his guests to finish their sentences.

    I’m 35 now but when I was 20 I meditated accidentally. Or that’s what I think of as meditating now, and what I understand they are saying meditating is here.. I was waiting for my boyfriend sitting outside in a cafe in a square, he was late and I was sitting there still, and just watching what was going on around me, listening to the sounds around me, watching the trees sway in the breeze and feel that breeze caress my skin. I wasn’t doing this to meditate or anything like that, I was just taking the moment in. Slowly I started feeling like I was still aware of what was going on but felt like I was drifting? Liked I was at a slight distance... or like I had tunnel vision where you feel everything is far away but your still aware of it? If that makes sense? And slowly my body started feeling heavy, but not really heavy, just grounded, but weightless at the same time? And then suddenly my eyes looked down at my hands and legs and I recognised them as my hands and legs but they didn’t feel like my legs and hands.. I felt disconnected from them.. then.... I actually started to feel like I was being pulled up.. but not my physical self.. my energy self? Like my invisible energy self or soul or I don’t know what you want to call it, was slowly raising and disconnecting from my meat body... it was the most amazing and scary experience.. be aware that I was not trying to meditate, neither did I actually know much about meditation back then, I still have thought meditating was when you had a empty mind and relaxed and that’s about it... so when all this crazy stuff started to happen it was amazing but it also scared the hell out of me because I felt like I was leaving my body... there, in the middle of a public place and I knew nothing about this and it scared me, what if I could not return? In fact, what the hell is going on to start with??? So I forced my leg to move ever so slightly which then snapped me back to reality. When I was grounded again I felt so weightless, like my body was drifting and was made of feathers... So, years later I am slowly trying to understand what happened, how it happened and how to make it happen again... I have touched on it but nothing as intense as that, meditation wise... And it feels lovely to have found a community here that might understand that experience and where I can share that and hear other peoples take and experiences so I can gradually get closer to that place in my mind again, hopefully 🙏

    • @cwp2008
      @cwp2008 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      leafside you had an out of body experience (OBE), which is common during intense /advanced states of meditation...for some people it happens probably just once or a few rare times in their lives, and for others a little more often....initially, it can be scary, but once you get over the fear, it’s quite normal...I personally feel we need to choose a meditation technique that’s suitable for us, because each of us is at a different level of consciousness....the same technique may not apply to all....its best to talk to an expert/qualified teacher/guru and figure out what will work for us....they will also help shed more light on the experiences we have during meditation, such as OBE or others....

    This book by Emily is not to teach you how to meditate, but more on a huge sales pitch for her $400 on-line course. Luckily I checked this book out of my local library to see if it was worth buying, so glad I did. She has taken an ancient practice that has been around with trillions of years, gave it a few buzz words and is trying to market this book as if she created meditation! There is nothing in this book that teaches how you to meditate. There are tons of other books out there that do teach you how to meditate, do your own research on the internet!!!

    Thank you Vishen and Emily for this great video.👍👍 2 weeks ago, I just started to meditate for 20 minutes daily but was then a bit scared of continuing after watching Leo Gura's youtube video on the ""dark side of meditation", he talks about the possibility of getting depression, ego backlash, paranormal phenomenon, even seeing ghosts, devils, giant insects that might try to kill you after practicing meditation, especially at advanced levels. It really freaked me out and I was afraid to continue. Please tell me he's exagerrating and that it's not true. I'm really afraid of ghosts and things.

    Meditation is apart of our Consciousness and state of mind. Meditation was not intended to be commercialized and that's why People fail to achieve the benefits of this expansion of consciousness. It's practically impossible to create environments or lifestyles Conducive for 24hrs to Meditate the way that Buddhist monks, Christ, Krishna were custom too but Meditation can be done moment to moment through awareness, concentration and mindfulness. This is all apart of level one meditation and our mind. The truth is we are human beings not human doers and meditation is intended for self care, expanding consciousness and gaining insight to end suffering within and around us.
    If we refuse to sit and be still then we deserve for society to place spiritual shackles around our souls because we are neglecting ourselves!

      Not everything is in the in front of your eyes world. And this is what is known as one if the many traps. Stop looking for physical outs to escape out from. Secondly, these people obviously are doing something right when they are helping change lives by the 100s and even from people seeing videos months later, new to the persons content.. they too are still able to tune in and if they are allowing, open to learn, curious. They can take it in and the practical usage comes to YOU the individual, to use the knowledge. And trust me. She has done alot of great stuff. She is not a renowned psychotherapist and such for nothing. Everyone is waking up to their power within. And if she can change other people's lives for the better through achieving a passion..? Let her. Find what works for you, and chuck the rest. Doesnt mean what is chucked is fake or doesnt work for others. 💖💖💖💖💖

    What she called as mindfulness i.e. focusing on your breath is the real meditation. It is the technique that Buddha used. It is the technique that Hindu sages use. Original meditation is what is used for self-realization and NOT a stress relief technique although stress relief and calmness is a beautiful parallel outcome of these techniques. If someone gets distracted while meditating there's a simple trick to think of your breath again and come back to it, w/o being worried that you thought of the truck honking outside. This video will confuse honest new seekers A LOT. Please use your caution and judgement on taking this at face value.

    She is wrong to compare the pumping heart with your involuntary mind. The heart pumps even when you are asleep. But the mind shuts down when you are asleep. Good Sleep clears the mind. Mind works best when it is still ,when the involuntary subconscious mind stops chattering. Once your are in the NOW, the involuntary mind shuts.

    You guys at Mindvalley are incredibly confused. You define mindfulness as different from meditation, while full well being aware no doubt that there are very effective and well researched formal meditation practices out there based in mindfulness. Below in the comments when someone asks for a video about how to meditate, you basically give them a link to a video of something that your expert here in this video defines as not meditation. This video was disappointing and misleading.

    Call it Relaxation instead of meditation. No point in talking at length abt relaxation exercises, layering it with the term meditation n then saying it has nothing to do wid this n that n stuff. Meditation is NOT for achieving ur material goals - not that thats wrong but it has a higher purpose. This is just like the world uses Yoga for slimling n crap.
