Following Emily's advice of exercising daily with twice daily meditation, it is working for me. I've built up to this over a month, with lovely reminders from Emily daily, having listened to many of her videos. I find her meditation so easy to follow, Emily's voice is soothing and so natural to listen to. ❤ I love how I feel following each mediatation and finding improvements in my everyday life. ❤❤ I am handling my daily life and relationships through a calmer lense, sleeping better and feeling joyful, gratitude, and a greater sense of fulfillment. 🧘‍♀️ So happy to have come to this with the recent changes happening in my life.

With all the hustling and grinding, don't forget to pause for a moment. Sometimes, all you need is some fresh air and a clear mind. Your mind can get so cloudy with all of the things happening in just one day. Give yourself a favor and try to meditate for a few minutes. Almost everything will work back at its best again if you unplug it and let it rest for a bit... including you! As we hustle everyday, we do take a few minute breaks each day to help get back on track amidst all the chaos in our days as an entrepreneur. :D Let me just share with you guys. We own a cookie shop business in our college town. When we first started it, we were living in our car with very little direction, just a huge passion to be successful. We just graduated college as well. We started a cookie shop out of a local bagel shop in their off hours at night. We were living in our car in the parking lot of the shop at the time with my boyfriend, Bran. It was a crazy experience but it worked! We became a success! And how we have our first storefront location (a second launching soon!) We started it to fund a year long backpacking trip around the world and to be successful while living the life of our dreams.

My family and I take yoga together, we meditate in yoga, and my kids say affirmations daily (one more than the other..ha ha ha). I meditate, visualize, and exercise daily...I will say this...when I started all of this daily...and kept it up...I found peace and stability in my life like never before. Truly, all that you ever need is already inside of you. By stripping away the stories, thoughts, feelings, and energies of negativity...your philosophy of life will change. You change the way you look at things...and those things in return change. Failures become blessings for the teacher they can bring. Fear can fade away and I actually fall asleep smiling. The kicker for me was one day I woke up and my mouth was sore and I knew I had been smiling in my sleep. When that it me, I was totally changed. Im no monk, Im not perfect, but I am in peace now. I went through hell to get there...but now...all I want to do is help others feel like I do!

Shut down your phone, go to bed, put your pillow and cover away, put your arms beside your body, focus your attention on your breathing.if you caught yourself thinking, dont judge it, just be aware that you think and which emotion comes up.
Breath through your nose into your lower belly for 6 sec, hold it for 3, breath out for 6, hold for 3.
If you train this over a longer period of time you increase your time with out any thoughts. This is the time when you enter a higher consicousness cuz thoughts are very shallow. Through breathing you can bring body and mind to work as a unit again.

Always choose the uncomfortable way if you want to benefit from meditation. Instead of thinking the same thoughts everyday, focus your attention only on your breathing, every single foot step instead of other people. This way you dont give your power away through distractions or negativity.
Everything new feels uncomfortable but you will benefit from it once you get used to it. It only takes one breath and your are back in flow.

To the skeptics, if someone buys her course and can relatively quickly start making transformations in their life, isn't that worth it? I mean, you can argue how the same information is all free, It's on the internet, or it's just TM and I get that. But she's taken the time to package it all up, give it a unique implementation and help people out. I don't see a problem with that. There is value in it.

Emily's message to mediate MORE is really important. I am deeply passionate about meditation and practice daily 1-2 times a day. I agree that many people do some but not enough. I came up with saying for friends... i don't just meditate 1 day in a 100... i meditate a 100 days out of a 100!!
I found that gives people a good picture about how much they could step it up, and its a good affirmation for myself too. It still took 1-2 years before i really started getting deep benefits but now its amazing and i can relax so much more and stay very chilled almost all the time, Once you get that good and consistent, it really is life changing and amazing. Her point that by saving some sleep time you easily get back the 20-30mins investment daily is gold as well.

TM came from Hinduism and whatever else before that. No one really owns this stuff and it becomes problematic when people come along and try to own or identify their personalities with this stuff as if they invented it. None of this wisdom is really new under the sun. Unfortunately, western practice only goes far enough to say “we want to relieve your stress!” Instead of going to the root and depth of realizing who we really are. If you don’t know who you are or why you are here, and just going to the middle of the story like “let’s relieve stress!”, you don’t have the whole picture and you’ll always need the next technique or the next talk show guest to present you with the next business product to buy to make your life better. You will only truly live your life when you realize the truth of who you really are. Without that, no amount of “stress relief” techniques will satisfy you.

There's no doubting the benefits of meditation but rest that's *five times deeper than sleep?* Sources for this? Any studies whatsoever? This sounds like something which would encourage people to think meditation is an appropriate substitute for actual sleep.

It's wonderful to promote meditation as part of a standard day for everyone. The way we speak about it though...
"Five times deeper"..? What's the measure?
"Nature wants us to be happy"..? Nature is not an entity that 'wants' anything for us; anthropomorphizing and romanticizing nature.
All answers are metaphors rather than concrete and specific answers directly about the biology that Tom is asking about.

As a meditator for over 20 years I can agree that meditation has changed my life. It is a great stress reducer, it does increase mindfulness and mindful living and has every benefit that is discussed in this interview. However, I wonder if the audience of Impact Theory and Tom Bilyeu are actually getting the full picture? This is the 2nd guest and actually one of many of the guests who advocate meditation that miss the main purpose of meditation, seeing things as they really are. Seeing things without the filter of the ego centric mind.
Without that distinction even thought we meditate we can still have or attachments to fixed ideas and notions that can lead us down the wrong path with dipterous consequences.
I will say that I am also a practicing Buddhist where many of the modern meditation and mindfulness practices come from but the divorce of Buddhist (and Vedic) teachings of morality and ego can lead to more mindful criminals and less stressed gangsters... I say that as a bit of a joke but not entirely. There have been many articles and discussions amongst the Buddhist community that mindfulness and meditation without the teachings behind it can lead to wrong mindedness while still being mindful and actually there are real life examples. I stress and urge Tom Bilyeu and Impact Theory to address this overbite and give the full picture of meditation. to not do so is misrepresenting meditation and can lead to harm. To get a better perspective on this subject here are a few articles. www.cbc.ca/radio/tapestry/mcmindfulness-how-capitalism-hijacked-the-buddhist-teaching-of-mindfulness-1.5369991?fbclid=IwAR2aJ9dzojQYZQV5tNGREFFVjA6xX50nGMIbO2GKWRsN_Ophp5h2hYD4A6M and theconversation.com/mindfulness-has-lost-its-buddhist-roots-and-it-may-not-be-doing-you-good-42526 For the best information on this subject please contact Bhante Sudasso bhantesuddhaso.com/?fbclid=IwAR3FZWCCcIWtRlCBcDhDO9RVlcYCQ5UHIcnSqFyukcDpO-au-Q5bWZegXoY or Ayya Yeshe www.bodhicitta-vihara.com/

A comment to that she said that the brain releases dopamine and you experience bliss; I have sometimes meditated deeply before sleep. I would be seriously tired, but with enough meditation I get almost high on the bliss that my body and mind is energized and then I have to spend another hour calming down. Meditation can be a tool to access your subconciousness like a search engine and most importantly be a platform to alter the things you want.
