ASUS EEEPC 900 take apart video, disassemble, how to open disassembly

  • Hi!
    No music. No talking. Just work.
    If you are taking your ASUS EEEPC 900 laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
    Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
    If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
    Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
    So, just watch this video and fix your laptop.
    Have fun and good luck!!

    Thanks for this video. I have a special place in my heart for this machine. It was my daughters 1st computer and it served her well. Of course that was over 11 years ago. She is all grown up now. Good unit for it's time imho.

    Thank you! Thank you! Than you! Followed your step and managed to fix my 900A. The plastic posts that hold the rear of the screen hinge had both broken up (bad design I think) and a small part had got into the fan and stopped it running :( All fixed now though, thanks so much for the video! (sent form my 900A) :D

    Wow, that's thorough. Thank you.
    It looks like if you wanted to add Bluetooth, you could undo the screws off the back and get access without having to undo much more. Does this sound reasonable?
    I thought I saw the wi-fi card on the bottom of the little motherboard. I'm not in any need, I am just trying to make this little thing useful again. It was a very good little helper in its day.
    Currently running Ubuntu 16.04 in 32 bit just fine and getting on the internet still.
    Any thoughts on the access to the w-ifi card?

      I am on my phone, can't watch it right now, but if there were two cables coming to the board - that was a wifi card.

      @@regazzz definitely the card on the upper left side when turned over.
      Do you think you could access that card by removing only the back panel screws?

    Hey! Nice vid! may I ask two questions? First, when I put it all together again, the keyboard doesn't "click in" again. At the time of dissasemblying it, I hadn't watched this video yet, so I kind of figured out the three pin's location. They seem to be alright, but is there a way to know if I broke them? Now the other question is about the charger. Searching online I saw it is 12v 3a, but there were also othes chargers for sale, advertising their compatibility with this laptop, that work at 9.5v 2.5a. Can you please tell me the output of the stock charger? I'm going to test it with others PSUs laying down around my house and don't want to take any risk. Thanks in advance!

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, sorry for.such late response. If the keyboard sits well and not popping out if let's say laptop is upside down - it should be ok. Maybe some pins not clicking anymore but it works. Now to the charger. I would really stick to the 12v the same as original charger. Amps aren't that important because laptop will draw a needed amount. I would just search for used charger for this laptop on eBay if possible. New on e are mostly a shitty chargers from China. But used once still can be good. Hope this helps!

    Great video - and great set up and use of equipment there! I followed the directions most of the way through, but my problem is that I cannot power-up the computer at all - I've used another power converter and adaptor with qualities similar to that of the original eeePC 900, but the LEDs do not come on and pressing the power switch (and the resest button)...nothing happens. So, even though I followed your directions, nothing. I don't have the electrical knowledge to work out the source of the problem. If you - or others - have any ideas, I'd appreciate them. Without any further ideas, I'll just end up throwing it away as it's a paperweight now... :(

      Blv Tzpk was your eeepc in working condition before taking it apart? Are you sure this adapter is compatible with original one?
      Does any battery light or power light come up if plug in?

    • @blvtzpk
      @blvtzpk 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Hard to know, as it was completely discharged.
      2. The adaptor was the original one supplied with the unit.
      3. No lights appeared at all. Nothing blinking - nothing.

    Hi, I have an Asus Eee PC 1000HE. There is a problem with the left mouse button on the track-pad; It either doesn't work or I have to press it more firmly towards the bottom of the button for it to work. Do you know how I can fix this? Is this is a motherboard issue or an issue with the trackpad itself? It's really bugging me!
    Thanks!

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the problem with 1000he netbook that mouse buttons are placed on motherboard - so, it is pretty inconvenient if mouse buttons are not working, because for the most users it means - change motherboard. You may try a different palmrest, but I think finally you will end up changing motherboard too.
