To explain the lack of heat pipes a bit: I've seen recently where a laptop had a similar design. They put the processor behind the laptop screen and instead of any heat pipes the back of the screen had a copper layer, just like here. The idea is that the large glass screen can dissipate heat much better than a small tube. It supposedly works well on the laptop, but I wouldn't want this design on my phone. No hot screens for me. @@Skylancer727 they still sell the most expensive laptops/desktops/all-in-ones and tablets on the market an all of them are not the top spec, so using a word "even" just because Apple sells a usual phone for almost the same price, as Samsung sells a phone with an SPen is kinda not right. Both are still too expensive and I don't support any of them for being that expensive with having less features that earlier phones with 3.5mm for example.
@@iowawalker well to be fair, you don't buy a mac for the same reason you buy a desktop and MacBooks are really for those who only intend light use and just prefer their OS. The Windows platform will always offer cheaper from the nature of being open sourced to multiple producers vs one for Mac. Also it's not just the note series. The S20 was more expensive than the iPhone this time as the S20 Ultra is still more expensive than the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Samsung is becoming shit. I was one of the biggest fan and that's what they did. They are become money grabbers and I have to say this Apple is far better. Samsung showcases their USA model of Note 20 Ultra whereas in general the camera, heat dissipation, processor and everything sucks in the Exynos model. If Samsung and AMD makes a new processor then am sure they will even lower the resolution or do something to cut the cost but wouldn't tell it to their customers.
Why? If Samsung uses SD in both US and outside, then the phones would cost more due to having to pay Qualcomm for more chips. Also the ONLY reason Qualcomm is even used in the US and China, is because they still have CDMA carriers. If they didn't, then we all would have the Exynos if we all only have GSM carriers. The Qualcomm chipset is more expensive. Making the other Exynos, balances out the cost so both can be sold at the same price. To me the performance gap is not significant enough to matter. The fool bitchen about it are just fools who have nothing better to do. When people found out Samsung was using caneras from Sony and then also the ISOCELL they make themselves, people bitched. Yet the photos had very minor differences. Some people just like to bitch. If any fool herw think they can build a better phone, then go do it or STFU. You don't ever have to buy Samsung phones. Because I won't be anymore or even Apple. Because prices keep going up, and yet they removed the headphones and the Note's extra tips, which I think is far worse than the chip whining. Out lhomes regardless of price have always had headphones and to remove them and making plans to remove chargers is all complete BS. I hope my Note 20 Ultra lasts because it likely will be my last Samsung and I certainly won't be buying an iPhone. Which means I won't have any good choices because I hate any other phone that runs Android. And since I can't swap the battery for a new one, I may have to swear off phones forever or just hook the phone to a charging pack to keep it running.

As much a dislike a Qualcomm monopoly; Exynos should be relegated to the budget and midrange phones for a few years until their R&D can create a better competitor. Qualcomm SOC in the Korean market is quite telling.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Note9 was truly their best phone ever, a 100 % zero compromise experience top-to-bottom. It was obvious they chose the wrong direction last year when for the same price as Note9 at release they offered us a device that was worse in every regard (worse and smaller screen, no 3.5 jack, punch hole) with exception of SoC, and if you wanted a true successor to Note9 you had to pay a significant premium. But trying to screw the people that buy your most expensive smartphone is akin to a spit in the face.
That's stupid. What do you mean by "smaller screen"? If you take giant bezels over just a punch hole and virtually no bezels then more power to you. You know what was a compromise on the Note9? No ultrawide camera.

I believe that sometime in the future, a company must make a smartphone that references the Jerry rig everything channel inside of the smartphone so that when he is doing a teardown, he can see his name inside or something like that...
I am absolutely with you on the argument that samsung shouldn't sell two different phones....like honestly as if samsung can't put snapdragon processors in all of their phones....and they cost the same too which makes me really mad....despite all of the innovations and stuff samsung has been doing they still shouldn't put two different processors which behave differently under the same name
Needless to say that in the snapdragon variant samsung is putting the sd865+ while in the international version they are still using the exynos 990 ......really samsung?
Snapdragons in all their devices would actually be a horrible idea. We don't need Qualcomm to have even more power with their monopoly. It would be better to go with 100% Exynos and just optimize the devices better on it - just like they did back then with the Galaxy S6.
I was okay at the time when Exynos was better than the SD (I live in Europe), but now I think Samsung should use the SD only or get the Exynos at the SD level!!
Tim R. Exactly, one of the major pricing problems of phones are said to be with snapdragon for basically ruling the processor market. However, is is a problem when a company forcefully sells you an old processor that has already lost against an old processor that is better in the current year, while the one they are selling didn’t had any improvement at all. Selling that processor together with a lot of other downgrades for an international version without giving you, as the costumer, the chance of choice (unless you ship directly from, let’s obviously say: North America) I don’t really approve that. I do, However p, agree with you that there should be another processor in the market to rival the Qualcomm’s one. I just think that Samsung has lost an enormous chance of selling a better version of Exynos (if they had worked on one) with this phone, that is probably the most talked about of all samsung phones, which would pretty much be free publicity for them. It was a loss of chance for them, as far as I see Ps: When I said “if they had worked on one” I didn’t meant that they probably haven’t even tried to improve their chipsets, I meant in a way like: I can’t see changes, no improvements shown.
I think this is where I quit buying Samsung phones altogether. On top of getting a significantly inferior phone (3-4 of SOT with Exynos) they don't even put in the silicone case and different S-Pen tips into European boxes. Also didn't iFixit said that it is random whether you get graphite or copper? Anyway, any of this is unacceptable in a phone that is priced at $1300. Have fun, Samsung.

You would think since Apple is taking a beating from its own customers and other companies that it would be the perfect opportunity for Samsung to step up their game with the international audience and convert those Apple users. Instead they are going backwards and joining Apple's schemes?? It's especially a Bold move considering how many Good Alternatives are popping up to fill the "Flagship device" status for way less money.
It's really disappointing the way samsung has separated how they treat their North American customers from the rest of the world. @@gogeta7173 u sure that's the one used here tho. Copper cooling chambers seem to be the current best tool for cooling within smartphones atm.
This is why I always watch your teardowns before making a purchase. Keep up the great work!

The way Samsung is becoming shadier and pricier than Apple
Seriously. Even Apple held the prices back from as high as Samsung and they were first to reach for $1K for a phone.
@@Skylancer727 Linux is open source windows isn't
Pricier than Apple? Is there a iphone pro version with integrated Apple pencil?
Samsung could've at least priced Exynos version cheaper than the Snapdragon version smh
That would solve a lot of problems, but then the name is just worthless
Exynos sucks

Selling that processor together with a lot of other downgrades for an international version without giving you, as the costumer, the chance of choice (unless you ship directly from, let’s obviously say: North America)
I don’t really approve that.
It was a loss of chance for them, as far as I see
Ps: When I said “if they had worked on one” I didn’t meant that they probably haven’t even tried to improve their chipsets, I meant in a way like: I can’t see changes, no improvements shown.

Instead they are going backwards and joining Apple's schemes?? It's especially a Bold move considering how many Good Alternatives are popping up to fill the "Flagship device" status for way less money.
It's really disappointing the way samsung has separated how they treat their North American customers from the rest of the world. Zach: **cuts open the phone**
Samsung fans: **sweats nervously**
This Note 20 Ultra is a Scam in The International Exynos edition. Same price, less RAM and a mediocre interior, Thank's Jerry.
The phone in the video is the international snapdragon variant. Zach got the models wrong.
The exynos also has 12gb ram with 256gb internal storage.
If the Note 20 Ultra is a scam, then the standard Note 20 is a way bigger scam
@@janskitech9966 Exactly. They did give additional storage to compensate for the processor, and also vapour cooling. So it seems fair.
In Australia we have the Exynos chipset... And the prices here are fked... It's like $2000 for the ultra and it's not even got the Qualcomm processor.....

customer: what's the difference with the Note 10?
Samsung: The S-pen is now ergonomically placed on the other side

It's not just kinda sketchy, it's confirming my suspicion that some people are getting preferential treatment, and others are just moneymilked. Maintenance of privilege.
Samsung hate Jerry for the truth he broke about their cheap phone
Doubt it.
His name is Zack
It might be a cheap phone but it ain't cheap
@هل تعلم The truth? Look at drop test. Note 20 fall 13 times and nothing. Iphone 11 cracked after first fall
Years later and they still don't give a shit.
You heard it ladies and gentlemen. He said that his next phone wouldn’t be a Samsung.
Samsung turned into apple
His next phone would be a Oneplus considering how much they paid him not to put the Oneplus Nord to the wall of shame.
@@03Chris25 One Plus Nord is a good phone lol
@@dressrosacr7 It's a good phone, but He wasn't too honest during his durability test with his phone.
@@03Chris25 probably just took the cost into account. For the price you pay for this Samsung, it should be near flawless whereas you can be more forgiving with a budget oneplus
2017: iPhone is overpriced we should just buy a Samsung
2020: Samsung is overpriced we should just buy an iPhone
Samsung literally lost its direction.
OnePlus.
And I'd still rather an android from Samsung for a little more than be walled in Apple's ecosystem
nah bruh... both overpriced
I used to make this argument back in the day, even did so last year with the s10 and its variants (couldnt beat the s10e price for those capabilities). Sad to say its not the case anymore. As a samsung dude, im very against their new direction.
You can hate on Apple for charging 700 dollars for an iPhone with a LCD screen, but Samsung is now charging 1000 dollars for a plastic phone with 60hz.
If the 12 Pro does come with 120hz, the regular Note 20 will be a no brainer to get. I rather get a Note 10+.
I used to think that apple was overpriced but by comparison to Samsung I'm leaning towards apple more and more, specially because the iPad is still better than the Samsung tablet and if you have both phone and tablet you have a pretty solid ecosystem
I'm with you Jerry, I'll be steering clear of Samsung when my S10+ eventually packs up!! 👍
It always annoyed me that Samsung did a 1 TB option with that one but never had that as a option for any of their phones after that point!
Me: what make the phone so special?

Jeffrey Joestar If you have an android phone then you’ll be good. If you’re on iOS you’re out of luck because of that stupid ass court case they have with epic. Basically fortnites new season launched today and the theme is official collaborations with marvel for a marvel themed season
When are you going to do a durability test on the Google pixel 4a
Pixel 4a is on backorder to those that haven't pre-ordered. I doubt Google sent him one so he may not do one as the estimated date for current orders is the end of September and the demand for a breakdown or durability test won't be as high by then.
I live in Canada and preordered the phone on August 19th (The release date here is September 10). In The Google Store it says it will be delivered on October 15th, smh. Recently, my Hauwei 10 lite screen stop responding to anything I do. I will now be phoneless for 2 months due to this.
Coopthehoop - although I am a satisfied owner of a Pixel 4a (so far), I am not optimistic about how a durability test will turn out. If it survives, I will be pleasantly surprised. That being said, I have given up on paying $1000 plus for a phone when I can get most of what I want for $350. Time will tell
First time he actually pops out the sim tray
First
Before buying any phone now I'm gonna wait for Jerry to make a teardown forst.
Oh good, so the Exynos version is even worse than we already thought. Fantastic. Good thing they put a curved screen on the Ultra then, because that already killed my interest in this "upgrade".EDIT: It appears this is actually a Snapdragon version. Still shady either way. They should both have the same cooling. And really, there shouldn't even be an Exynos version to begin with. Plus I want my headphone jack back. It's a shame there's no other (good) smartphone with a stylus yet, else I'd switch to that.
So you telling me this is a snapdragon version and still no cooling? Wtf
Its international version so it's exynos
This one is the exynos variant. Zack said that 5:25
Note 10 lite if you want. Or I think there are also phones from LG that have pens. Tho I suggest you research a bit before you buy as I don't know much about how good they are
Guys this is the Snapdragon variant. Zack got it wrong. You can look at the case on the tear down video it’s Korean which gets the Snapdragon and also you can look at the model number
1:21 "First, we'll pop out the sim card tray"
Gasp, blasphemy
Completely agreeing with you, I just bought the exynos version of the note 20 ultra, it's a very good phone but I already experienced cpu throttling. It might be also for me my last top of range Samsung phone if they continue to cheat by selling exynos phones at the price of snapdragon ones here in Europe.
