I never write comments, but this is one of the best made, fix-it videos. I've watched tons of E02 stuff but your video is the first to be so comprehensive and clear.
I sat through 20 videos of people just changing the filter before i found your video. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this. It gave me the confidence to take mine apart and it was the impeller too. One small comment i have is you keep pressing the heating button with no water in the pipes, i would think this could overheat the element. You can just press the filter button which will put the pump on without the heater.
Awesome video. For the cost of changing the impeller, I took your ideo onto Reddit and found people swapping them with new ponds pums for not much more money. Since my pump is dead silent, I will assume it is gone and will look to swap it out completely. Thank you!
Just want to give you a HUGE THANK YOU for such a fantastic detailed video! I got the dreaded E02 coded after 2 1/2 years of continuous operation of my Coleman Havana model. After checking everything else, I opened up the egg and found the same cracked pump rotor. Ordered a kit on Amazon, put back together and back in business. You are AWESOME!
Thank you for your thorough walk through. I had just about given up on my unit and this video saved the day. My impeller looked just like the one you pulled out.
Thank you for this amazing video. I’ve replaced my Impeller before. But i never realized how the flow sensor was problematic and my issue. Great video. Very clear. Well made and it helped me fixed my E02 code and probable from pulling my hair out in aggravation. Found the new sensor replacement on E Bay thanks to you as well.
Sir i never ever leave comments to videos unless info is right and super usefull, sir you saved me from a new saluspa, i just dissasembled it and clean the pump and wow working just as new and i cleaned the flow sensor too, i will get the pump kit just in case, a huge thank you to you!!!!
I was about to give up and get a new spa, the pin holding the waterflow magnet in place in the sensor unit had snapped off and the magnet arm had moved down the pipe inside, easy fix once I found that, thanks. Your video gave more insight into the workings of the system than any others.
Thanks for this, it was the impeller on mine, cleaned up the flow sensor as well just to be on the safe side. Ordered parts from Amazon too as suggested. Thanks bud 👍
This is the BEST video explaining the problem with these units, thank you. My egg died 2 years ago after 2.5 years of use. I took it apart but couldn’t get it working again so I bought a new spa. Here I am less than 2 years later and the new one stopped working with an E02 error yesterday. I know it’s the impeller that isn’t working and not the flow switch because I was able to force water through the intake to simulate flow and I don’t get the error. Now the question is- Is it the pump motor or the impeller? Although I’m working with the newer rectangular egg, your video has given me enough instruction to take the plunge (so to speak) and see if just an impeller replacement is required.
I bought a new impeller kit on Amazon to replace the old one and I’m back in business. For the record I’m sure all I needed was a couple of $0.01 cent bushings to keep the impeller centered, the kit I bought was $40 which is still better than $750 I guess. Bestway is a crap company, no customer service to speak of and no parts. Planned obsolescence. If you aren’t handy you should not buy a Saluspa / Bestway spa. They will crap out in 2-3 years due to the bushings deteriorating and you’ll get an E02 error.
Great video. I have the new impeller kit on the way and I'll probably be tearing into mine tomorrow, but knowing how that sensor works and that it's the only thing triggering the E02 is key in understanding how the system works in order to resolve it. Thanks!
Thank you for the video! My impeller looked identical to yours in regards to where it was cracked. I just installed the new one, turned it on and got an E01 code. So I took the flow sensor off and cleaned it up, held it shut and turned on the pump…all good. I followed your instructions to the letter and now I just hope it works when I set it up in a couple of weeks. 🤞
Marjorie, if your tub isn't set up yet and there's no water in it, you're going to get error 02 every time because there's no water to push the flow sensor against the magnet. Have you set everything up yet and tested it out? You will get error 01 if you are holding the flow sensor shut without pressing the heat button. I think if you got everything working without water, then you should be just fine with water. Good luck!
Thanks a lot for the great video! 👍 Unfortunately, I have a newer model that is more square than egg-shaped. Inside, everything's pretty much the same, some "improvements" aside that make self-repair a bit more tiresome. Mine showed E02 the other day, which usually indicated a dirty filter. Swapped the filter, no change. Today, I tore it apart to inspect the plumbing. All the tubing, the flow sensor and the impeller are free from gunk and debris, nothing is bent. I slowly started to put everything back together and tried to fire up the pump sporadically, but it only turned on once and stopped after a few seconds. Funnily enough, it does get 12 V AC and there's nothing inside that would impede rotation, yet it refuses to turn on. 😳
Thanks a lot for this concise video! I am getting this stupid error and believe that the flow sensor is the cause. Once again, thanks for sharing this!
I think mines the same. My impeller was pooched. But I am still getting the error so I think the sensor is gone.. do we have the link for the guy selling it?
Thank you so much. Having this exact problem. This is the best video I've watched for this problem. Again thank you for being so concise in your video.✌❤☀🌈
Did you get yours to work Karen? I haven’t set my up for this season yet.. my impeller was busted and when I replaced it and turned it on I still got E02 so I cleaned the flow sensor, held it shut and it was fine..I hope it works when I fire it up in a couple of weeks. Thanks
@@karenjones7111 I got my new impeller today and when I replaced it I noticed the little end caps on the shaft were not the same as the old ones. I had to use the old end caps as they are octagon (?) I didn’t count the sides but the new caps were smooth round and the hole that the cap goes into is not round so, there was that.
What about the pump? I don’t hear anything when I turn it on, This is my prob too. I don’t hear the pump. The error goes away if I shove the garden hose into the intake and run the hose at high power then there is no error so I think it’s the pump?
Still have the e02!😢..changed impeller and flow sensor with new parts.. how do you fix it when u don't nt hear any noise when turning the heater on ..and you get the e02?
This is my prob too. I don’t hear the pump. The error goes away if I shove the hose into the intake and run the hose at high power is no error so I think it’s the pump?
Appreciated your video very much! We're still stumped with ours... could it just "simply" be that the pump itself is busted? If that's what it was, would we be getting a different error message than 02? After taking it apart, multimeter reading was fine, impeller looked totally fine, no tubes were twisted. Also the flow sensor was fine (in that nothing seemed broken and we were able to recreate the error 02 bypass that you showed by holding the magnets together). With ours, we hear nothing when we turn it on (except for the initial click). How can we know for sure if in fact it's just the pump itself that's the problem? If it were, unfortunately it doesn't look like you can buy a P4071 anywhere anymore. But it would at least be good to know, in case it's something else...
Super helpful video but I have a question : this helped me a few months ago, and now I am getting the e02 again now. So I dismantle the thing, and I start with the flow sensor. I made a makeshift bucket/tank to test the system as I went along. Oddly enough, the pump and whole system runs when connected to a home depot bucket. I then take it back to the hot tub, plug it in, e02 error. I am going to do further investigating but is it because the pump is getting a different pressure from the water in the small bucket than the hot tub, and can't quite move in the hot tub scenario? In any event, it seems to again be a pump issue but it happened so soon after the first failure, making me wonder if there's anything else I'm missing. Thanks un advance for any reply.
How are you connecting to a bucket? I have tried this and couldn't get it to work. I did it by putting a hose in the very bottom connection (inlet) and then turn on the pump and watch it come out the top connection (outlet). The water hose and pump together does not supply enough flow or pressure to move that flow sensor enough to not get the E02. What I am saying, is I hope you're not putting the hose through the middle connection and you have the flow sensor flipped backwards. I am in the process of making a second video showing this and how to jump out the flow sensor so you will never get the error again.
I used a multimeter like you showed, and a quick burst of power occurs, then cuts out when e02 fires again. Does this automatically mean the circuit board is bad? It doesn't appear damaged with burnt wires, etc. Thank you for a great video👍
I have the Coleman saluspa, it looks slightly different from this, and the flow sensor is in a small Grey rectangular box (looks like an outlet box). Sensor was clean. Inside the heater had a little white flaking, I cleaned it with a straw brush. Impeller looked fine. I run the thing even with no filter on, and it shuts off in about a minute. E02. A while back my gfci plug had melted for some reason, I replaced this with the same one. Any idea what could be wrong?
The error code should be the same, so I'm assuming E02 is from no flow. Keep in mind, the error only deals with the magnetic flow sensor. I would remove it and make sure the flap part of the sensor is making good contact with the upper sensor, so even if it's clean, hold it in your hand and push the two ends together. As long as those two are touching, you should not get error 02. If you still are, then your issue is with the sensor itself or the wiring for the sensor. I also know that the flow sensor flap has a little bump or nipple on the end of it that protrudes about 1/8" outwards, I had to cut that off of my parent's hot tub sensor because they were getting the error even while I was holding the sensor closed in my hand. I couldn't figure out why their sensor wasn't working, so I temporarily jumped out the wiring at the control panel, just so their hot tub could run while I ordered a new sensor, and it wasn't until the next day that I thought of cutting that little nipple off so the two magnetic pieces could get a little bit closer to one another. Fixing their hot tub and then mine about a month later is what persuaded me to make this video. If your sensor is working properly, then the issue is with your pump or kinked/clogged hose.
Sorry I have one pomp bestway Idromassage but no work good. it doesn't heat well when I turn on the internal vat with bubbles I feel it hot when I put it in heating mode it doesn't heat up what can I do?
I just replaced my impeller with one from Amazon…turned it on and still got the E02 code. So I cleaned the flow sensor and held it shut, turned on the pump and all was good. Just need to set up my tub and see if it will work.
Hi, I need help. My daughter give me her hot tub that has a colemen salusspa error 02. I cleaned the filters and still error 2. Can someone me how step by step to check for seeing if the filter is plugged? I am a senior I am lost. Can anyone help me?
Remove the filter all together and run the hot tub and see if you are still getting the error. This video is intended for people that have already ruled out a clogged filter as their potential issue. The potential issues for getting error 02 with the filter removed are pump issues, wiring issues, sensor issues, or clogged/kinked hoses. This video shows you how to troubleshoot each of those.
Have you checked the voltage at the main board to make sure it's being sent the 120V to start the motor like shown in the video? If the main board is good and sending the signal, then the issue is definitely with the pump. Since it's just a 120VAC circuit, you could splice the wires for the pump into an cut outlet cable and plug it into the wall to see if it turns on. That's pretty crude, but it will get the job done. If the pump is blown, a new one is around $100 on ebay.
Is the pump getting 120V to it? You can literally remove the pump and connect it to the wires on an extension cord and plug it in to make sure it works. I did this too, but didn't put it in the video since it's a bit sketchy.
I have been through 2 pumps one saluspa E02 and it would not even blow up the tub??
