How often do U recommend doing this?
Hi. This looks great and I will purchase for routine maintenance. However how does it work if the pump won't start at all?
A popular question. Quite a few of our customers have shifted limescale by doing a ‘static descale’ - leave the EASY-SCALE attached and let the Oust work its magic overnight. Try the pump again the next morning. It doesn’t work in all cases but certainly worth a try
If that‘s not worked, the chances are it’ll probably be a failed impeller or flow sensor. Don’t fret, both are cheap and fairly easy to replace and certainly not as daunting to replace as you may think. Your EASY-SCALE kit won’t give the kiss of life to a failed impeller or flow sensor but is a very handy tool for testing your pump during and after repairs, aswell as it’s main purpose, a descaling device
I didn't even know this was a thing.
thinking about buying a jacuzzi so I'm considering making my own manifold using a 10L ad blue water tank and replacing descaler liquid with either white vinegar or citric acid.
Thanks for the insight
There will always be DIY’ers who make their own. No worries there. That said, quite a few of our thousands of customers have given feedback about how versatile our kits are when they have changed their tub, in addition to the cost of the fittings to make their own
Our kits (at the time of this post) come with free ABC washers, spare EASY-SCALE coupling washers and sachet of OUST worth over £4.
You may want to consider using something a lot smaller than a 10L vessel as this will over-dilute the solution
@@kelvinsgadgets2557 any chance of making a transparent one that also has a mesh filter in the lower part?.
Just to stop any large lumps of limescale or debris being recycled into the pump.
If you would think of ideas my thoughts are maybe you could do a rectangle filter the same ID of the vessle with a long stick that you push down to some Mounting points just above lower return aperture.
@@obviouslytwo4u short answer, no. We did consider mocking up something transparent to illustrate our kits working - but it wouldn’t be exactly the same size and shape and thus wouldn’t be a true representation. Our EASY-SCALE’s are made of polypropylene, which - in its natural state is slightly opaque - which defeats what we would be trying to achieve
The descaling solution we include tends to change limescale from a solid state to a milky solution. Any fragments or debris is usually collected in the very bottom of the EASY-SCALE as the bottom boss is 2mm from the bottom
A descale cycle typically takes 15-30 minutes, once a month, sometimes less frequently dependant upon where the owner lives. This is a very small proportion of total overall running time of a pump
We have allowed peoples reviews and endorsements, along with the product itself to show potential customers how it works and how effective it is. People can often get a mis-conception of how good something ACTUALLY is, when all they see is some edited footage
Hope this helps

Hi I used your descaler and tool and worked fine. Took off, removed solution and put back on to run through with clean water and now I have the dreaded E02 any help or advice? Thanks
Hi. Sorry to hear your’e having trouble. You need to prime the pump by filling with water and tipping back to expel air. If you’ve done that and still getting E02 and it worked before, with no issues, you may have a faulty flow sensor, impeller or a blockage.
Thanks for the video. I’ll be ordering one of these. I’ve also been looking at servicing the pump but can’t work out how best to remove it from the latest air jet (same as the one featured in the video). Are you aware of any video guides? Thanks
Many thanks for your interest. You should have 2 black silicone caps that go on the inside of the tub in order to remove the pump.

How often do you recommend descaler maintenance? Monthly?
Short answer - it depends where you live. We would recommend 3-4 times a year but it doesn’t hurt to do it more frequently (monthly) or repeat treatments in severe hard water areas. There's no such thing as over-descaling your hot tub pump, and the simplicity of use means it’s easy to do😉
Hi Kelvin, I just purchased a descaler kit from you which I've tried to use today...one question, I've replaced the impeller and attached your kit but as soon as I turn on I'm getting the e02 within 5 seconds. So how can I start the descaling with that error showing??? Many thanks
Hi Stu. Firstly, many thanks for your purchase.
A few things to check…
1. Did you replace the impeller with a decent quality one? Some don’t fit properly
2. Did you replace the rubber ends of the impeller? They need to be replaced as they wear and elongate, causing the impeller to knock against the pump casing and fail
3. Did you remove the old rubber ends? Sorry to ask, but you’ll be amazed how many DIY’ers leave the old ones in and crush it with the new one
4. Have you checked the flow sensor? Easy to test - with a fridge magnet (or your old impeller if you still have it). Remove the single screw on the top of the flow sensor housing, remove the short black rod. Attach your pump to your EASY-SCALE kit, activate the pump and put the end of the black rod on a magnet within 1 second of startup
5. Are you using Multifunction tabs? They contain algaecide which causes / creates a frogspawn like substance which blocks the heater matrix
6. Did you reconnect the wire on the internal pump? A very common thing to forget to do when carrying out repairs
7. Have you reinstalled the pump ‘backwards’ i.e flow is in reverse direction

Hi Kevin thanks for the tips. I have a squarish airjet similar to the first one in your video which was only used last year, with a Hawaii square Spa.
On connecting it up this year there was a leak from the bottom, on contacting Bestway and sending them a video of the problem they have replaced it under their 2 year guarantee, Any idea what the problem may have been? I have searched TH-cam for the disassembly and repairs for this pump model to no avail in case the problem shows itself at again at some future date when out of guarantee. Sadly I can only find fixes for the egg shaped one. cheers John
Hi John
Answers to your questions…
The pumps are pretty much the same inside. The only significant difference is the necessity to ‘release’ and lift the heater matrix on the newer square one to remove the circulation pump. The screws around the middle are accessible from under the middle section on the new ones too
Leaks are soooo much easier to detect by using our EASY-SCALE kits as you can test (run) the pump ‘off the tub’
Take a look at our other TH-cam video on how to test the flow sensor. That’ll give you an idea.
Here’s the link. th-cam.com/video/a87gESQsWUA/w-d-xo.html
@@kelvinsgadgets2557 At 76 years of age I would like to say taking the time to reply Kevin. I watched the link but sadly even though I am relatively DIY minded I am still not certain on how to disassemble the base section and the brain and fingers are not as nimble as once were.. I don't want to go messing about and not be able to reassemble. Will keep looking around on TH-cam. Thanks once again
I've just received my easy scale,is it ok the leave it running for 24hr after the descale wirh the easy scale attached to see if my E02 alarm come on
Hi. Thanks for your question.
Yes, it’s fine to run your pump whilst attached to your EASY-SCALE for prolonged periods, provided you use just clean water
We recommend setting the temperature to 35°C to mimic usual running of the pump. Keep an eye on the water level as some evaporation will take place
I have the coleman saluspa tahiti hot tub with the grey egg like pump and it leaks when I turn on the pump... I've replaced all Gaskets and o rings on the pipes and it still leaks!!! Also replaced the umbrella shaped places where the air blows from! Idk what else to do... I also used a bottle of the seal a leak solution in it!!!! What do you recommend for me to try next?
Hi Donna. So sorry to hear you are having trouble. Our EASY-SCALE kits are excellent for this type of thing as you can test the pump ‘off the tub’
If you have invested in a kit, attach it to your pump. Remove the bottom panel, split and elevate the pump, fill your EASY-SCALE with water and run the pump. You’ll see within seconds where the leak is coming from
As you have a Coleman I’m guessing you are not in the UK. Our kits are available from Amazon.co.uk

Hi do you have a video on replacing pump lmpeller...eo2 error won't stop after descaling.?
Hi. Thanks for your question. We don’t have our own video, but here’s a link
IF you have the newer square Airjet pump, it’s exactly the same principle as the older ‘egg’
Only difference being, you need to remove the 2 clamps on the heater matrix and raise it to gain access to the jubilee clip underneath
Here’s the link.

Hi. Thanks for your question. Here’s a link to test the flow sensor. Chances are it’ll be ether that or the impeller but checking and ruling out the flow sensor will narrow it down.

The pump I am trying to fix has no heat and no error codes. All sensors and flow switch are good and so are the elements. The customer changed the heating unit. Is wiring the elements in the incorrect sequence going to cause a problem?
I’m afraid without seeing your pump I can’t comment on root causes of no heat.
Answer to the wiring question though. The wires should have letters on them. From right to left, it should be A,A,B,B (followed by other wires…)
Hope that helps

Hello my friend. This is only my second year with the lay z spa. Just ran it through a cycle for setup and I'm getting no hot water. Tried starting and restarting. Switching the heat on and off but it hasn't worked. I can't hear the thermostat 'click' either when I adjust the heat. My guess is a scaled water heater element. Do you agree? Also, if it is that, can I descale it using your method? Or is it a full replacement jobbie?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi. Thanks for your interest and question.
Answers as follows.
Yes, you can descale the heater using an EASY-SCALE. They don’t give the kiss of life to failed parts such as heaters, impellers, etc but are great for testing the pump ‘off the tub’. Could be a failed thermal reset switch, heater control cable / switch (depending on age of the pump) or the heater matrix itself. Another common cause is a frogspawn-like substance caused by using multifunction tabs. An investment in an EASY-SCALE will sort / help diagnose any of these, aswell as it’s main use - a descaling device. Hope this helps

We have replaced ‘a few’ impellers that ‘look ok’. Despite them appearing fine, they get ingressed with water and become imbalanced. My advice would be to troubleshoot and explore other areas (flow sensor etc) and buy an impeller anyway. For what they cost, atleast you can rule this out. Remember to replace the rubber ends.
