Tractor Landscape Rake Clears More Than Just Sticks

- One of the most useful tractor implements I've come across recently is the landscape rake. Cleanup of everything from firewood scraps to brush to trail maintenance has been made alot easier since I started using the Landscape Rake. On today's video I"ll be showing you how I use the landscape rake to help take care of all the chores around my acreage. One great things about this landscape rake setup is the angle feature that I can control from the comfort of the tractor cab. Check out the way the angle of the landscape rake creates a bit of a wave and moves the debris to the side of the landscape rake before it falls off allowing me to keep moving forward and puts the debris all in a nice row along the edge of the trail. Great tool and great time out there in the tractor seat on today's episode. Glad you're all here for the ride!

OMG $2200 for complete brakes, a wheel bearing and a muffler flange? Is your spare care a Ferrari? Sandy you are handy and have a welder C'mon man you could do that job

@@sawingwithsandy Sandy I love your channel and have watched you do a lot of really cool stuff. So I got to ask what kind of car is it? Year, make, model? For my 2004 F350 Dually it would not cost this much. I just get the impression your mechanic is ripping you off. Have you tried looking up the parts on Rock Auto? Honestly brakes, rotors, calipers are not that hard of a job you could easily do this job given the skills you have shown. I am not throwing stones, I really think there is something wrong with these prices if you have just a standard run of the mill car. Wishing you all the best.
I priced around for the parts and the brake shoes are a big cost. I do trust this mechanic though. Seems where I live cost of parts is huge

Great looking rake Sandy. That hydraulic angle would be very handy. Getting on and off to change my angle is probably the biggest time waster when I use mine. It’s 7’ like yours, but is a LandPride brand. Maybe someday I’ll add a cylinder. Despite that it’s still one of my favorite attachments. So versatile and handy

Sandy, it's time you bought a couple 55 gallon drums and a fuel pump. (A bulk tank in the back of your truck along with a refueling hose would be ideal). I don't know about Canadian diesel prices, but it wouldn't take too long until you've paid for it, in the difference between dyed diesel and 'road' diesel. Having a fuel supply on hand will pay for itself, if for no other reason than having it on-site when you need it. Prime example: a couple years ago, I cleaned out about 4,000 linear feet of creekbed across my nephews hay fields with his excavator. His rig, in the back of his 'farm truck' holds 200 gallons of diesel. I left the excavator down in the bottom and, every afternoon when I'd finished for the day, fueled the excavator and greased all the zirks. Next morning, crank it up and go....
My grandson got an estimate of $1,600.00 to do the brakes on his car. I spent $150.00 on parts and restored his brakes to original - including vacuum bleeding the entire system - in about four hours. I hate to say, "I told you so," but.... clean the shop so you can get the car/truck inside, buy the parts and do it yourself. OK, I'm off the soap box........
I LIKE that rake!!! And, I LIKE the way you're able to clear out the ferns and other growth and make that area sparkling clean. A PTO-driven brush hog mower would pay for itself in no time. Don't damage your riding mower out there - it's designed to cut grass........ As always, I wish your place was MY place, and you had what you really wanted!!!
Diesel here is bad bad bad these days. $1.50/L is the going rate right now. My truck is actually not on the road currently as I had a big issue with it (long story haha). I'm thinking as I accumulate more equipment I"ll have to get a fuel storage tank just to get the bulk diesel delivery. Sure would add up in savings I bet. Hope you're doing well Carl!

Hi Sandy. Tire chains don't grow on trees ... well, except in Ontario. 😂 Hooray for landscape rakes and wood chips on the logging road. The shed and surrounding area is looking great.

The cost of car repairs make a big difference, to keep or the crusher. The broken rear window seem to lean towards the crusher and so much for hind sight. Nice work on the rake.

Wow 1.50 per liter is about 5.67 per gallon? Right now i pay 3.80 a gallon.
Crazy part is I thought I was getting a deal at $1.50/L haha

In a perfect world you would install a proper 3rd function valve for your FEL. 😜That landscape rake does a good job at cleaning up brush.

I recently purchased a diverter valve on my rear remote for I believe $189 with all hoses and fittings and all you have to do is flip the switch towards the set you want to work still works from your hand valve in the tractor really made things a lot easier. I found this on eBay. Just wanted to let you know. Great video Sandy

Hi Sandy, I have been enjoying your videos for oveer a year and envy your sawmill and Kioti tractor with all the implements. I am in northern Alaska, just west of Fairbanks and have a non producing farm where I use a 40hp John Deere with an assortment of implements but don't have a rake/grapple yet. it looks very useful. Sandy good morning you are handy with the project of mechanic you should be capable to do the brakes that is just plaine mechanic and for part the mechanic if he is charging you 2200 for part alone he is making at least 150% profit on you go on line and check for parts you will probably pick every thing for at most 700 dollars even with my back injuries and my heart situation i still do my own brakes even if it is only one per day lol some mechanics charges way to much depens on how many employes they got and how much over head they got ( like renting or buying a place electric and more) well have a great day and lets hope you find a cheaper way to fix that car P.S. even the back window isnt that hard to do go onine and watch a few video and you will see
I agree it could be possible but unfortunately I’m swamped at the moment. I priced out the parts other places and they all seem to be the same price

Hey there! Funny story about Pakenham but that's the place I learned to downhill ski at haha . The root rakes does well at going right over roots and rocks

good video and job. it cost a arm and a leg to repair any thing now. you can get more remote hook up. last time i looked they were over $1200. a set, take care, be safe and well.

Hi Sandy. With all of the things you have done to the various machinery that you have, I believe that you can change the brakes yourself. If the rotors have not been previously turned, that can be done to give you a fresh surface. It has been my experience that mechanics that order parts for the customer come close to doubling the cost of the parts then add their labor. No special tools are needed except for a C clamp to push the piston back in using one of the old pads. A book or YT videos will show how to do it. Have good days!
Hi Buddy Reed! I can imagine with a bit of work I could tackle this job but often times I"m stuck for time for repairs like this. I like the pros to work on my vehicles when the jobs are a bit bigger usually. I don't mind the odd job here and there but sometimes I prefer them to have at it
Mmmm… especially when it comes to STOPPING!!! ❤ better safe than sorry 👍 and besides… you deserve to spend some of that $ on your safety!! Great job with the rake btw! PS if you have rust problems (we live in the rust belt as you know) have your mechanic spray/line your cars or trucks with FluidFilm or an equivalent. That is fairly inexpensive and you should have it done while its still warm out, and once a year. Obviously that wont help on muffler rust! 😅

Sandy, I didn't read through all of the comments to see if this was mentioned so here it goes. My father had a JD 4440 with a front end loader/forks and a 10" Rhino Blade on the rear. He purchased these 12 vdc solenoid hydraulic switch Blocks that would connect to his tractor ports and then would supply the frontend loader or rhino Blade. Now on his Tractor he had 3 individual supplies. he used two Solenoid Blocks and left the remaining port for the Blade tilt (which used its only control lever inside cab) The other 2 levers were dedicated to the loader or blade. So the solenoids when switched inside the cab would either control the loader or the blade without reconnecting every time. I wired it simply - if switch was moved towards the front the loader would be able to operate and switched to the rear the blade. the original switch that came with solenoids stopped working so I used a regular 120 vac house switch with a plastic box mounted close by my fathers levers. worked like a charm. I need to look into getting wheels for my landscape rake to keep it from digging in to deep.
I haven’t tried without them yet but they do seem to work well

I don't have any specific nail type that I"d prefer over any other. I do like the TImberlok screws if you go that route but as for nails I"d likely end up using galvanized ardoc landscape spikes
