I've got the L4701, 2016 . Same tool box, still works. Back linkage bars look different. Never had clearance or hookup problems on mine. 560 hours. The rain washes mine. I've found if I don't run higher rpm's the particulate cleaner mode kicks in a lot sooner and more often.

I have a 2019 L4701 and wondered why the lift arms don’t spread any wider so I asked the dealer while waiting on them to find a bucket level indicator I had ordered that was somewhere in a pile. The lift arms have limited travel on the tractors that are set up with the R-4 tires. They swing out a bit more on the tractors (at least the L4701’s) with R1’s. The R-4’s are a good bit wider than the R-1’s and if the don’t limit the side travel of the lift arms the can hit the tires. Not a problem on implements with the clevis attachment points (where the pin is separate from the attachment) but it’s a close fit on the bolt on pins like your box blade and some of our older stuff. The Kubota took over for a 9N so I can put up with a few oddities on the Kubota. By the way, if you do much bucket work with the loader the bucket level indicator is a nice, and relatively cheap, addition. Some old heads view them as training wheels but I’m not too proud to use training wheels if it keeps me from gouging places I don’t want gouged.
The best way to inspect something is to wash it. That saying was taught to me by my primary flight instructor years ago. Cleaning something seriously is a good way of looking at small details.
Kubota salesman gave me great advice... “we’ve never had anyone return and say, I wish I’d bought a smaller tractor.” I.e. the rear arm spread / adjustment is both the tractor being (Compact) and R-4 tire width. As for the toolbox, some “competitors” don’t include one at all. 😁 Kubota Engineer’s likely decided most owners would install a TB to fit their own needs anyway. (Sidebar) I dreamt of owning a new compact tractor, so after months of shopping Mahindra, JD and MF, also decided on a Kubota L-4701 HST, but wouldn’t purchase it without running the machine first (FYI, Builder by trade).Took it behind the dealership for 8-10 minutes and cut / graded dirt with the FEL in 4WD, then returned with my excitement diminished. The salesman asks, “so what’d you think”, me... “I don’t know, it wasn’t what I expected”. SM asks, “could you wait a week for us to prep / assemble a different tractor? We recently sold two of the model I think you would like, but we have one left in the crate.” A week later, with the different tractor, I made just one 12’ pass cutting 2” to 3” of soil / grass / weeds, followed by a dump cycle and back drag, (2 minutes tops), then immediately returned to the dealership. SM says, “I can tell from that smile, you found your tractor”. Yep! I instead bought a “standard” utility sized tractor MX-5800 (next class up) and love it. 400+ hours later and have no complaints at all, mainly BC it’s simply a much more capable machine. Without being an “industrial” line, it has some of the best hydraulics of any tractor I’ve operated, is still nimble / quick, but not too big to easily transport and a great machine for the $$. My advice is, don’t buy a model of tractor you’ve never operated and more specific to the video, if a toolbox is that important to you, tell the dealer and they’ll probably include one in the deal. You have a nice versatile tractor in Kubota with the versatility of its attachments. I know with John Deere you have to buy there attachments which are expensive so a few little flaws like the cheap tool box and the environmental fuel filter system isn’t much to put up with compared with the expense of other brands. The way you take care of your stuff it should last you a long long time my friend and your help probably needs a raise..lol as always thanks for sharing your videos with us and God Bless!
Something I did and other people have done is swap the front tires from side to side. Put the valve stems next to the engine so tread is still going the right direction. It gives you a little wider stance. Maybe a couple inches on each side and a little more stability on beaver loads.Great job on the cleanup.
I bought my L3800 in 2013 and I had several ammo cans just like that. First look at the plastic crappy tool box on on the tractor I immediately installed the ammo can. Still doing it's job and its 3/5/2021.
Yep, I changed out the toolbox that came with my Kubota L4701 and put a bigger husky toolbox and then took the toolbox from the tractor and mounted it on the fender to keep smaller items.

Interesting comparisons between the Kubota & the Ford 3000 - as I've said, the 3000 was the first tractor I drove here in the uK and I still have many fond memories. Great job with the toolbox too. It does pay to give things a wash once in a while - I badly need to do my Jeep but haven't been well enough, and the local car wash has banned anyone from using it with roof bars, even factory fit ones that cannot be easily removed. You will want to think about a GRILL GUARD for the front of your tractor, especially if you are working in the woods! I agree with you about the tool box! It was the first thing to be removed and an ammo can was put in its place, exactly as you did. The one thing I did was I added one of those small magnet trays to the SIDE of my tool box so that I could place my hitch pins and such on it so as not to lose them in the weeds.
I knew a Gentleman that owned a New Cat Motor Grader a 12G and he WAXED it and it was always clean as a pin. He was a sub contractor for a major Const Co that was building Interstate Highways. Mr. Ted Tutterow!!!
my lift arms on my tractor would hit the tires when i tried to spread apart. so i swapped the wheels around witch spread them out much further. not only gave me much more room back there, also made the tractor much more stable, by spreading them further apart

Look into a set of Pats’ Quick Hitch for the lift arm issues. For the holding up the FEL issue. Cut two pieces of angle iron that will just fit behind the elevating rams. This will mechanically block an unintended lowering of the raised FEL. Tie rap them in place when in use. These are very inexpensive and very effective.

I think the last quick hitch attachment I got for my second tractor was about $145.00 dollars and from one of the companies selling mainly Chinese made products. The unit has helped me and the first one I got from the local John Deere dealer and it was only 99.00 plus tax in 2002. They increased the price so much until when I got my second one in 2016 from Harbor Freight it was a joy to pay that price for the product. Your tractor is much cleaner after the wash job and must make you feel so much better and I need to clean my two and the mowers also once I get my second mower back from the repair shop. Since it is Autumn here in Arkansas I need to lube all my equipment up before it gets cold and have them ready when I pull them out next Spring for use.

When we washed Hawkeyes, we washed, then lubed. The lube job pushed out any moisture. I hated the 56 day PM cycle on the E-2C aircraft. We had to follow the lube job with an inspection of avionics equipment in the nosewheel well, and got all that new grease all over ourselves!
You have awesome water pressure. Is it the nozzle or not regulated? I have a kubota mx4800. Love it. It’s done everything I’ve asked of it. Did the same tool box swap last year. Best bang for the buck.
I worked on a farm and the tractor I operated mostly was a MF290 ,, at least weekly it got serviced and washed ,, mostly the radiator because it didnt have a pretty screen like your Kubota ,, :-)
A quick hitch is worth every penny and makes changing implements so easy. I must admit the tool box has a lot to be desired but the one that comes with it can hold most of the tools you would need for a field repair on the tractor or an implement. I have been looking to change mine, but have not found the right box to fit. The ammo can is pretty high to fasten stationary. I did see a guy mount one to his front end loader in a video, but my solution is just finding a metal box that will fit where the original is that is longer and a little higher. Harbor Freight has one but they have been out of stock every time I have looked in their store. Nice video but I would get the quick hitch. For what you paid for that tractor a quick hitch is a drop in a bucket. I just have a L2501 and I have quick hitch everything. My wood chipper wasn't but I modified it so it is now.

I think you are one of the smartest young men I have seen in a long time but I am going to say something you have not thought of. You can have all the hydraulic locks in the world BUT WHAT IF A HYDRAULIC HOSE BROKE? With that heavy grapple on the front, you or someone could be in bad trouble. did the exact same thing i did pertaining to a tool box placed it the same direction exact same ammo box even the same color lol. I cut a piece of rubber to place under the handle and a piece of rubber on my roll bar where the where the lid hits with double sided 3m tape so the vibration and hitting of metal wont go to bare metal and create rust. cool tool box.
I was washing and waxing one of my tractors the other day and a friend stopped by and laughed at me for doing so. Until I told him how much this tractor cost. He said, "oh, that's more than my new jeep cost me"!
Agreed! I just got my L3901 last week and paid more for it and the implements than I did my truck. I'm actually ceramic coating mine this week so hopefully I can just give it a quick spray off and not have to break out the wash mits. Hoping a little more time now will be worth it.
Look into a product called Pat's Easy Change. They fit on lower lift arms and act just like a quick hitch. I have had those and a quick hitch and I would got with Pat's hands down.
Issues with the 3point arms hitting the tires can be attributed to the R4 tires being wider than the traditional ag tires and also looks to be a category spacing. Unbolt the pins on the box blade and flip them towards the inside. A quick hitch would not solve your issue there unless you bought all new implements
The reason it’s better for the environment is that during their frequent breakdowns they just can’t be ran. Tier 4 equipment can’t hurt the ozone when they are broke down
Not sure about your model Kubota but, you may have missed the grease fitting in the floor board just left of your right foot. It greases the forward/reverse pedal. Mine has a 3/4 circle cut in the floor mat.
My 2012 Kubota MX4700 came with a small Mickey Mouse metal tool box, and I did essentially the same thing. I ordered a larger, stout metal one off Amazon and screwed it down in the same spot and now I can carry wrenches, chains, and other tools that wouldn't come close to fitting in the original one. Don't know why Kubota hasn't seen the light....
Just an FYI, fuel efficiency is not necessarily tied to emissions! Your tractor may use more fuel than your Dad's, but, it could at the same time be putting LESS pollutants in the air!
I understand that the exhaust is technically cleaner, but, like someone else commented, does it really offset the extra fuel consumption? I bet it doesn't.
Same 3pt issue with 4600. I get one side and center, then swing up and down to get last leg. My WD45 built in 1953 was easier. But like you love my Kubota
I have 1 3301 and 2 4701’s and a m105 cab kubota. Dude I have cursed those three-point arms. They do make a set for the ag tire ones that stand out wider. Your R4’s are wide so u have the “ skinny arms” on yours. One of my 4701’s has ag tires and the lift arms are nice and wide. I’m willing to bet the dealership ordered yours from the factory with those tires. As far as the fuel consumption. If you’re out mowing or have the engine at least 2200 RPM and above they just sip fuel. But if you just lug them around the yard loading dirt or logs they burn fuel at an alarming rate. But like you say that is the best tractor under 80 hp that’s on the market today.
That makes sense, since the ag tires are narrower. Good to know....I keep it at about 1500 minimum...reduces the need for regens, but it does suck down fuel...maybe higher is better.
I have a 2007 L4400,. I have the same problem with a small toolbox, although mine is metal. The three point arms don't spread as wide as my dad's Ford 2n either. Otherwise a great tractor though.

That screen over the radiator is a good thing. That's the first time i bave ever seen that done . That's a great idea.
Most modern tractors have a removable screen over the radiator and hydro coolers. Some have 3 or 4.
John deer has had them since the 80s.

Trouble on this one is that the arms stop before they hit the tires. So that wouldn't help on mine. Sounds like a great idea for stability though.

I've got the same problem with my New Holland T1520. Very agile but 3 point hitch can be a pain to line up due to the same reasons you cite.
It’s a Kubota issue.. my 3600 has the same problem with the hitch. I turned my hitch pins facing inside like yours and it’s still a pain.
His pins are still facing out, I can see the lynch pins. If you put them inside the lift frame instead, it makes them much easier to hook up.

Just put Pats on my 3600 ....love them. My implements are from different manufacturers and ages so the Pats work well for me

Have you tried turning the lift pins on the grader inside. It won't work on every application but I can see it working on this one.

I have been looking to change mine, but have not found the right box to fit. The ammo can is pretty high to fasten stationary. I did see a guy mount one to his front end loader in a video, but my solution is just finding a metal box that will fit where the original is that is longer and a little higher. Harbor Freight has one but they have been out of stock every time I have looked in their store. Nice video but I would get the quick hitch. For what you paid for that tractor a quick hitch is a drop in a bucket. I just have a L2501 and I have quick hitch everything. My wood chipper wasn't but I modified it so it is now.

I think I have commented on only one of two of all your videos I have watched from your channel. Please, DO NOT get me wrong, I am not picking on you. I think you are one of the smartest young men I have seen in a long time but I am going to say something you have not thought of. You can have all the hydraulic locks in the world BUT WHAT IF A HYDRAULIC HOSE BROKE? With that heavy grapple on the front, you or someone could be in bad trouble.
I really love your channel, I like almost all the content you put out for us, keep up the GREAT work.
Working under that loader is dangerous. If a hose fails, they can drop like a rock. It can happen!

You could flip attachment pins on 3 point lift, facing inside instead outside, it will help you with the narrow spread for lift arms.

did the exact same thing i did pertaining to a tool box placed it the same direction exact same ammo box even the same color lol. I cut a piece of rubber to place under the handle and a piece of rubber on my roll bar where the where the lid hits with double sided 3m tape so the vibration and hitting of metal wont go to bare metal and create rust. cool tool box.

Agreed! I just got my L3901 last week and paid more for it and the implements than I did my truck. I'm actually ceramic coating mine this week so hopefully I can just give it a quick spray off and not have to break out the wash mits. Hoping a little more time now will be worth it.
I'm not in the school of thought that a tractor should be muddy. I protect my investment and wash my tractor monthly.
Look into a product called Pat's Easy Change. They fit on lower lift arms and act just like a quick hitch. I have had those and a quick hitch and I would got with Pat's hands down.
Nice touch with the ammo can. add some rubber washers to reduce wear n tear and vibration.

Might want to add a rubber mat under tool box. It's a vibration point that can wear the paint and start rust.

Issues with the 3point arms hitting the tires can be attributed to the R4 tires being wider than the traditional ag tires and also looks to be a category spacing. Unbolt the pins on the box blade and flip them towards the inside. A quick hitch would not solve your issue there unless you bought all new implements

The reason it’s better for the environment is that during their frequent breakdowns they just can’t be ran. Tier 4 equipment can’t hurt the ozone when they are broke down

Not sure about your model Kubota but, you may have missed the grease fitting in the floor board just left of your right foot. It greases the forward/reverse pedal. Mine has a 3/4 circle cut in the floor mat.
My 2012 Kubota MX4700 came with a small Mickey Mouse metal tool box, and I did essentially the same thing. I ordered a larger, stout metal one off Amazon and screwed it down in the same spot and now I can carry wrenches, chains, and other tools that wouldn't come close to fitting in the original one. Don't know why Kubota hasn't seen the light....

Just an FYI, fuel efficiency is not necessarily tied to emissions! Your tractor may use more fuel than your Dad's, but, it could at the same time be putting LESS pollutants in the air!
I understand that the exhaust is technically cleaner, but, like someone else commented, does it really offset the extra fuel consumption? I bet it doesn't.
Same 3pt issue with 4600. I get one side and center, then swing up and down to get last leg. My WD45 built in 1953 was easier. But like you love my Kubota
I have 1 3301 and 2 4701’s and a m105 cab kubota. Dude I have cursed those three-point arms. They do make a set for the ag tire ones that stand out wider. Your R4’s are wide so u have the “ skinny arms” on yours. One of my 4701’s has ag tires and the lift arms are nice and wide. I’m willing to bet the dealership ordered yours from the factory with those tires.
As far as the fuel consumption. If you’re out mowing or have the engine at least 2200 RPM and above they just sip fuel. But if you just lug them around the yard loading dirt or logs they burn fuel at an alarming rate. But like you say that is the best tractor under 80 hp that’s on the market today.
That makes sense, since the ag tires are narrower. Good to know....I keep it at about 1500 minimum...reduces the need for regens, but it does suck down fuel...maybe higher is better.
I have a 2007 L4400,. I have the same problem with a small toolbox, although mine is metal. The three point arms don't spread as wide as my dad's Ford 2n either. Otherwise a great tractor though.
Could you reverse the pins on the box blade? I see some implements with the pins facing in vs out. Some sickle bar mowers are like that
That's exactly what I did to my tiller and my box blade , turned the pins facing inward and it made them much easier to hook up to my L3901.
