    I like your pace today Luke.. You're more down to earth, relaxed, but awake and aware.. Not cocky, just Luke.. I mean you're personality "luke" has cocky, however, it's not needed all the time.. Use it sparingly.. This video showed slight vulnerability, which comforts us makes us connect with you.. Cheers man..

    I have been using this for work for the past 3 months. It replaced a 3D scanner that was a huge pain to both train doctors how to use and install with a multitude of requirements. I love this sensor now they can train themselves how to use the scanner via iPad app.

    They should put this on a oculus rift, and then you can see your own arms and steering wheels etc in racing games! You can choose what you want to see from the real world, that would make a one hell of a realistic racing sim..!

    • @jvc85
      @jvc85 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wiikendz Cool idea yes but it would involve the senor having to render the stuff into a mesh all the time to keep it in sync with the game, and that is 30 or 60 renders each second (if the game runs on 30 or 60 fps). It would also have to be able to output much better textures (+ mesh quality overall) for it to not break immersion and not to forget how much harder the cpu/gpu would have to work too. This might become a reality in the future but not any day soon.

      yea, hopefully if they manage to make some crazy fast transistors you can have like a pci-e card that does some of the job :P I mean, IBM has already made a 7nm chip, skylake that releases soon is 14nm. And 7nm is 50% more efficient than 10nm, so i guess in maybe 4 years at max, we should have fast enough chips for that :P
      It would be awesome to have it! My dream :P

      yankee12312 Why not just have a sensor that can detect the arms and then use that data to animate already modeled arms? Much easier and does the same thing, with the only difference being the model of the arms.
      Also Oculus has bought a company doing just that too.

Bind that with the Oculus Rift, or similar 3D device. You could literally have a videoconference in 3D.

      Will Cherrington For a more related comment for this video, i propose this. I would love to see this technology implemented into some kind of automated house drone. Where you could scan your full house (probably would require a more detailed and high tech 3d scan) and give a drone routes, commands, and scheduling. Don't know what the practical use for this would be, but it sounds cool.

    This is pretty cool. What's the highest resolution on it? How small of a detail could it scan, I wonder. Lets say you want to scan a little figurine or something, like the 3D printed Linus, it would be to scan it, and then you could 3D print that model?

      nj4ck The Scandy app is built with the same SDK so I can help you with this question. You wouldn't have a problem scanning something the size of a car door, but much larger than a human gets tricky. We once did a whole family on a couch with mixed success. Man I thought for a moment I had Adblock on, but I think someone is going to have to make a program to prevent me from seeing in-video ads, and like begging.
    I like this channel, But I really, really, get sick of how many damn ads among other bullshit gets shoved in my face quick in a quip.
    Sorry if this bothers the fan boys out there.

    • @warpatato
      @warpatato 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ProtoMario The close button exists... :\ Sometimes people just whine on things that has the easiest solution to. As for the like begging, it's not like he's begging for a whole minute or something. Not really a fan boy but hey, they gotta make money somehow, like every other youtuber who invests huge amounts of labor and money for each vid (where monetizing is not enough) . You got to understand that this channel is not ran by one dude with one camera. It's a whole company who's full time job is making content like this.

      warpatato Yeah you are right, which is why I closed the video after I left this comment.

      ProtoMario you are such an insufferable brat. Have you donated something to them, have you give them your support? Maybe buying a shirt or a product from them? No? and still you are using add block, which by the way takes away profit from youtube adds. If people like you didn't exist in the first place no one would be forced to watch a harmless 20s sponsored section in the end of the video. And still Oh god STILLL fucking god, STILL there are people like you whining. Please unsubscribe, get the fuck out, never comeback, no one, seriously no one needs viewers like you.

    • @pgktf2331
      @pgktf2331 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't understand these people, you know this is a company that has to pay a lot of workers, electricity, internet, rent... and then get profit, and they have to do all of this by giving you FREE content, they have to get the money from somewhere, don't they??? They get money from ads, selling merchandise and vessel but if you don't want to spend any money watch the bloody ads. It's like TV, the big TV companies get the money from ads to pay workers, give us quality content... But in the BBC there isn't any ads, that's because in Britain you have to pay a TV tax that it's about £200 every year (about $300). So you have to decide between paying money and not seeing ads or seeing ads and not paying money.

      PGkTF What's not to understand, there is a limit in which people can stand.
      Linus started asking for likes to show pre-recorded videos, before the video itself was even finished.
      He added ads all over the place, even some of their shirts are ads.
      And guess what, this isn't cable, it's TH-cam. anyone can rise up and take his place, this is not shit I personally want to watch and there are other channels that don't do this.
      Tek syndicate, Jays, barnaclease, Techoftomorrow, hardwarecanuks, thats just to name a few.
      And they all do the same things, so why should I tolerate being bombarded with ads here.
      1-2 per video is enough for me, but its on average 4-5 including the produce, shirt, pre-roll ad, side ad, under ad, end roll ad, mid ad, and after pre roll ad.
      So what are you not understanding?

    Would you recommend this to me, since I dont have an ipad, I want to use this to scan objects for game development. I am planning on making a game in unreal engine 4. I am not the worst at using z-brush or blender, but I am not the best for accurate models and most of the models I am making I have a real version of it.
