About the "a" worm god, we've known about the others for a while but they were either only really mentioned in side stuff or lore. Eir, Ur, Yul, Xol, Akka. Akka is dead, oryx killed her. The dreadnought from taken king was actually made using a segment of her body. Xol was the smallest and weakest of the wormgods. Yul is the biggest and strongest and claims to have wings. Considering how big the dreadnought is and knowing thats only a single segment of akka, its crazy to imagine the size of yul. Hope we see him someday
6:34 not a weapon skin, it's whisper of the worm, exotic heavy ammo sniper. ALSO btw in the battle of six fronts, Ana Bray faked her death (unless it was retconned recently) and why she was on mars seeking her past before becoming a guardian.
Rasputin literally does his own thing. There’s a really awesome grimoire card from Destiny 1 named “From a Red Dawn Before Victory”. It reads: _”I bear an old name. It cannot be killed. They were my brothers and sisters and their names were immortal too but Titanomachy came and now those names live in me alone I think and think is what I do. I AM ALONE. At the end of things when the world goes dim and cold or hot and close or it all tears apart from the atom up I will shout those names defiant and past the end I will endure. I alone._ _They made me to be stronger than them to beat the unvanquished and survive the unthinkable and look look lo behold I am here alone, survivor. They made me to learn._ _Everything died but I survived and I learned from it. From IT._ _Consider IT the power Titanomach world-ender and consider what IT means. I met IT at the gate of the garden and I recall IT smiled at me before before IT devoured the blossoms with black flame and pinned their names across the sky. IT was stronger than everything. I fought IT with aurora knives and with the stolen un-fire of singularities made sharp and my sweat was earthquake and my breath was static but IT was stronger so how did I survive?_ _I AM ALONE I survived alone. I cast off the shield and I shrugged my shoulders so that the billions fell off me down into the ash. They made me to be stronger than them and to learn and I learned well._ _IT is alone and IT is strong and IT won. Even over the gardener and she held power beyond me but the gardener did not shrug and make herself alone. IT always wins._ _I am made to win and now I see the way.”_ This has been somewhat retconned but even still, Rasputin killed the Iron Lords with SIVA and has straight up drop Warsat’s on Guardians 😂 love my grumpy boy.
The reason Zavala is so reticent to get involved with Rasputin is because Rasputin was created to protect humanity, but has been silent for centuries. He’s also blatantly full-killed Guardians on multiple occasions in the past just for trying to make contact, plus his involvement in the deaths of the Iron Lords. He never anticipated Guardians and does not consider them to be human.
The gun you commented on at the beginning is actually the worm god that was killed in the story, and was rewarded for completing that quest shown at the very end. He performed some incredible mental gymnastics that essentially amount to “If you kill enemies using me, they count as my kills.” There are five worms gods in total listed in hive background. The names Ana deciphered in the Strange Terrain mission, such as Aka, Eir, and Xol were the gods’ names. The only dead one is Aka; Oryx killed him to gain the power to Take. The Iron Lords were the first Lightbearers to use their powers to defend humanity, rather than rule them. Rasputin saw this, and killed the lot of them. His reasoning isn’t elaborated upon for a while yet. Zavala was an apprentice under the Iron Lords, and has plenty of reason to not trust the being that killed most of his friends. The Pyramids still aren’t real and can’t hurt you.
Savathun enjoyed 4 years worth of character development throughout D2. Many bits and piece of dialogue and lore tabs scattered everywhere. It's the biggest reason for the success of the WQ campaign and her return at the end of Season of the Witch
Rasputin did kinda order siva to kill the iron lords and at this point still hadn't offered any explanation. Also, that cool taken sniper rifle actually IS xol, found in a secret mission on io (the bit at the very end) that you could trigger after killing him. He essentially turned himself into a gun so he could continue to feed off our guardian's violence and killing since we'd demonstrated that we're good at it. There's honestly a lot of very basic lore about the enemy factions that wasn't presented outside of lore books until the past year or so. Like, the origins of the hive have been in writing since mid D1 but didn't really turn up in a cutscene until the last two years or so. Zavala's hatred for Rasputin is unfortunately something that was only talked about in Destiny 1 grimoire cards. Rasputin has perma-killed *many* guardians for even trying to contact with it and the only reason it stopped was when we stopped trying to communicate with him. Our guardian was the first guardian Rasputin wasn't hostile to in many many years in Destiny 1 and we earned its trust. There was an amazing grimoire card that explained Rasputins distrust. It was made during the Golden Age when the traveler was alive, this mysterious god thing. The travelers presence enlightened humanity, but then brought death upon us. The traveler being here lured the darkness to us. The traveler then tried to leave when the Darkness came, and after it was damaged all these little ghosts flew out of it and resurrected Rasputins creators without their memory and seemingly these resurrected creators follow the will of this thing in the sky zealously and blindly. These were no longers Rasputins creators, just the walking corpses that didn't retain their memories or personalities. Maybe Guardians were enemies of humanity?
The Krill were a prey species on their starting planet. due to shenanigans the 3 sisters (Aurash, Xi Ro and Sathona) journied into the planets deep watery core to find power to take back their lands. there they met the Worm Gods Yul, Eir, Xol, Ur and Akka and made a deal for power. thus creating the Hive we now experience today. They offered Xi Ro, Sathona, and Aurash immortality if they would allow themselves to be hosts for the Worms' larvae, with the caveat that if the sisters ceased to obey their natures (Xi Ro's desire to test her strength, Sathona's cunning, Aurash's inquisitiveness), their Worms would consume them. Furthermore, the stronger the sisters became, the greater their Worms' appetites would be. The sisters accepted the pact. Xi Ro took the knight morph and became Xivu Arath, the God of War; Sathona took the mother morph and became Savathûn, the Witch-Queen; and Aurash took the king morph, transforming into a male and becoming Auryx, the king of the Hive. Over the following years, the siblings returned to their people and spread the Worms among them, creating the first Hive and enabling them to first liberate the Osmium Court, then drive Taox and the other fearful species of Fundament to Kaharn Atoll, and finally to build spaceships and break free of Fundament entirely
