Firstly, thank you for this "how to" video. I live in Canada and have a 2007 R1, I decided to proactively change the rotor even though mine looked fine at 22k. I didn't see the need to replace the stator so just did the rotor. I had 3 options, $950.Cnd for OEM, or $250 for the RM or Kimpex (China Made) replacement. I called RM Stator first but they were unfortunately resistant to answer my questions, I found their customer service poor. I ordered a Kimpex brand one which looked exactly the same as RM Stator's. The rotor looked decent but had improper machine tolerances, the spacer didn't fit over the shaft - some people apparently sand it down but I didn't feel comfortable doing this, nor should you need to if machined properly. Additionally, it fit too loosely when seated in the bearing. Returned for OEM. BTW the OEM has updated this part and it does look slightly different than these Chinese knock offs. In a high HP, high RPM engine, I'd buy Japan made OEM... just my opinion. Good luck & stay safe!
Thank you for given my channel a chance. Agee with you about OEM parts definitely better. I couldn’t get the OEM so i had to go for next one after and same like you had a bit of looking and all guys recommended the RM stator. Thanks one more time
Yup. Put an rm stator in my fz1 last week just for preventative maintenance. Seen a ton of people using them. Well the bearing races are thinner. And I believe it took out my bearings.

Hello there, how is the RM stator holding up? I have to change mine. OE cost twice more and Rick's motor stator $166 compare to $320 OE. RM only $135. Should I use RM for my 2006 Yamaha vster 650? Thank you for sharing this video
It depends more on the state of the assembly, rotor &stator , on the how bad it looks damaged. I guess mine happened and damage was minimal as you can see kinda everything stayed inside the flywheel. Best yes oil pan taken out for your piece of mind but i think new oil mixed with a can of engine flush and drain and then new oil and filter should do the job, also check the old oil through a cloth for pieces.
Apparently after 2008 the stator were much better.did you put a upgraded back in with a solid magnet or did you go for a later stator with the 16 magnets
Hey I put the washer and spacer on the flywheel gear before I insert it back into the bearing but there was no click sound, I can’t get the spacer to fully press down onto the washer, there’s a tiny space between..any suggestions
I don’t think i heard that sound either. Aslong that you got them back in same order and that spacer with baveld edge facing correctly I should be fine. Check the paperwork and schematics. You can find it on forums
Those bearings are sitting in oil, they are not sealed unit so we can say the grease wears out. There are bearings in gearbox how come we don’t need to change those? I’ll do more research and change them if needed.
Oil sump off now. I haven’t removed mine because I wasn’t so much damage on stator and kinda everything stayed inside , but in some cases pieces will drop inside crank housing. Best to remove pan and give it a good clean while you’re at it and you’ll find your missing thing.

When it was ok stator was putting out 14.3 v , one day after a while went out for ride and it dropped from 14. to 12.something volts and very quickly went to 9v . And dead. It had to be failed stator and thsnks to my vastly and superior knowledge I didn’t try to jumpstart or push it or do anything else because it’s then when pieces of stator falls inside the crank case. Hence all the gone engines. Got a van , took it home , took everything out and as you can see in video, it was busted but it stayed in the flywheel. Enjoy.
