I strongly not recommend to weld those washers as you destroy the balance of the basket and the result will be very painful for your unbalanced shaft .This engine is very sensitive on the rods bearings so don't be surprised if you hear a rattling noise after some km depends how much you push the bike. Your fuel pump also need replace, measure the pressure on the fuel line, should be 3.5 bar and yous probably reach 2.5-2.7 max. The best modes for this bike for reliability and massive different on the acceleration is : - 1st convert the chain to 520 stainless steel sprocket at the front and an aluminum sprocket on the back with the same teeth as the bike comes from the factory - 2nd replace the rods with CP Carillo rodes same travel, before you install them send them for balancing. - 3rd replace the clutch for a racing one (lighter and stiffer). - 4th replace the fuel pump for an Quantum it will keep the pressure to 3.5 - 3.8 bars when you hit high RPMs ( believe this bike suffers with the stock pump) - 5th replace the y pipe with and aftermarket without the catalyst converter - 6th increase the fuel supply to the maximum from the speedometer. - 7thOPTIONAL mods (if you have to spend more money) replace the slipons with aftermarket and fit a power Commander and tune the bike properly) - 8th if you want to go further change the exhaust manifold with an aftermarket recommended for this bike if you do that you need to change the camshafts as well otherwise the back pressure will decrease dramatically as the new exhaust manifold will have slightly bigger diameter pipes. You will get 200 to 205 HP at the wheel. Without the 8th mode you will get about 185 HP at the wheel. For sure you will suffer more on the suspensions. And the modes for the suspension are quiet expensive. What you achieve ? A more reliable engine and a bike 17 years old that can execute 2024 super sport bike easy as the power from the engine travel faster to the wheel through the lighter parts.
Thats a good thought man! I did look over the ramp assembly pretty thoroughly, after researching, as the earlier R1 clutched did have a common problem with cracking but other than the loose ramp springs everything checked out great! How're you finding the new clutch setup on your bike? Sounds like a wicked upgrade!
Still going strong with no issues at all! About to upgrade the springs, plates and friction discs to the SBK HD setup along with the turbo setup.. this will really test the durability of this mod haha
Hey man, there a couple vids of the sound of my full exhaust on here too! Its a Decat pipe, Yoshimura Carbon slip ons without baffles and I've deleted the EXUP system too 👍

Sorry for the big comment, I like your videos.
I have the same bike and the response is crazy with those modes. Keep up the good job!

Is the basket still working good by now?
Nicely done, What the size these washers please?
I worry about the balance of the basket once spinning.
that sounds like a clutch boss arry error (rivets come loose) ?? but gues you checked it. i've changed to a tss slipperclutch ..

Hi mate, are they still all good? What size washers did you use?
Welds and washers are still going strong, about to reuse the setup with new Heavy duty race springs, plates and fibres with the new turbo setup too 👌
I just did this mod on a 2009 big money saver if it last. I was wondering how yours went long term? God video 👍
Good not quite godly

what you have done for you exhaust? its full system or its just ending with decat?

Which welding did you use?
Yeah so I just stainless steel tig welded this one, kept the heat low and moved fast.. really easy!
What size washer?!
So, if you buy a new one, it comes with loose springs?
I just put a new basket in my 2005 model r1 and thats how they are brand new was no different to the one thats done 96,000kms
You waste my time..... Too much talk
Hey mate, thanks for the feedback 👍

@@666tjw666 Hey mate, this worked perfectly fine for me. Daily riding, track days, 300kph pulls on a regular basis with no issues whats so ever 👍
