Me, having played and beaten the game on a playstation emulator on my phone: *sweating profusely*
I got the whole ps1 library on the ps classic, plus I got 15000 games on the ps1 classic. Good thing it can be modded. You can still play your favorite ps1 games without the joystick I bet many games without the joystick.
I never actually used the analog on MGS and I must have beaten the game a dozen times back when it came out. No clue how I managed.

Let's not forget that Nintencan't put out a new game with original ideas and instead decides to put out worse remakes of older games that are removed from store shelves in a flash.
All while having Nintencan't forget about or kill off franchises that haven't seen in a new game in years.

The Playstation classic is awesome if you can get it for like $20-$30. It's remarkably easy to jailbreak and can be customized to your liking afterwards. If I remember correctly I was able to pick one up for around $25.00.
Or you could instead buy a $20-30 gamepad, download an emulator, and play on that.

@@PiroKUSS "Any console I own" doesn't connect to PC without a converter box. It looks like you're telling me to just plug my controller straight into a USB port, which is a strange thing to tell a retro gamer because that wasn't a thing until the PS3 days.
I still have my original chipped console… it costs me £0.20 (the cost of a CD) to write a game… only downside is having to tweak the laser to get copied games to play right, but once set up the gameplay is spot on because it’s original hardware
@@angolin9352 If your console has a wireless controller, you can connect it to a PC just fine, all you might need is a tiny little bluetooth reciever, which you can get for stupidly cheap.

In my defense I got my PS1 and my second controller before the dual analog controllers, let alone the dual shock ones, even came out and just never bothered upgrading. Did get a few comments from people confused by me only using the d-pad over the years, but it never bothered me.

Yeah like, who even cares about the analog sticks!? Those weren't required until the PS2! Even I didn't use the analog sticks on emulation.
People complaining about the analog sticks, you can add more games on the PS classic, i still love playing the PlayStation without the analog stick. I got the whole ps1 collection plus, also i got snes games and many more.
Hell, I would sometimes even play Gran Turismo 3 with the D-pad, since all the buttons on the DualShock 2 are _analog._ Remember that? I thought that was so cool.

As opposed to this thing which is suited only for the other purpose of a PS Classic, getting gutted and used to house a Raspberry Pi.

@@n64freak38 Like Nick C said, if you mod the classic, you can handpick the classics you want on it. Although with a library of almost 8 000 games, it's clearly bound to displease most gamers that grew with the ps1 console (sadly, I was with the bunch that both grew with the console and modded the "classic", and then realize that I'd rather own the original PS1 games with the original PlayStation which can take more time to load than its PSone counterpart than staying with the mini-box...)
at least, the controllers that came with the Classic are those that you'd receive with the OG console (2 instead of 1 back at the original release) and it's barely distinguishable if looked from a fair mid-distance

Plus, ps1 had a lot of good games like Spyro The Dragon, Spyro Ripto's Rage, Gex Enter The Gecko and even Frogger 2 Swampy's Revenge. P.S. Considering that you're profile name is literally "N64 Freak" You most likely only think the ps1 sucks cause it was a competitor with the n64, but let me tell you, the ps1 was better then the n64, the n64 used cartridges while the ps1 used discs, and games released for both systems like Gex Enter The Gecko for instance was better on the ps1 than the n64 so go pound sand on that.
Hot Wheels Turbo Racing doesn't work on the PS1 Classic, because of the damn core being used.

When you realized that the mini consoles weren’t all that successful
Candy Workshop is a clone of Activision’s Pressure Cooker for the Atari 2600 (Garry Kitchen, 1983). Instead of putting together burgers to order, this clone has you putting present orders together by looking at the required materials table. If a wrong comes out, bouncing it back to the right recycles it. If it explodes, as you said, you lose a life point.

The analogue pad technically came out after MGS. Most people played it in the original I bet
I actually first played MGS1 on a PS3 and still used the dpad. Its just a lot better. The game doesn't even support full analog. The sticks only go the same 8 directions the dpad would.

Oddly enough the emulation scene for the PS Classic makes this console pretty damn amazing. Definitely worth the money to turn it into an emulation machine.

It was the worst classic console out of the box but quickly became the best because of how easy it was to mod and sense it has USB ports you aren’t held back by its internal memory like the nes and snes classic it can play mame Dreamcast and even half life and now supports blue tooth and wifi
With the right keyboard you can access the debug menu on the PS classic to force on NTSC emulation on certain titles, improving them a bit and it’s so easy to mod it’s hilarious to me why SONY rushed it so fast.

Which wouldn't be an incorrect statement. Too bad this means a PS2 classic is unlikely now.
I feel like a PS2 classic would fall into the same pitfalls probably. Problem with both the PS1/PS2 is that their libraries are so diverse and large that it's hard to properly represent them with only 20 or so games. Versus Nintendo where the library was smaller and only certain games partook in the limelight while most were overshadowed.
Like if you got 10 people who owned a PS1 and 10 who owned a N64 and asked what their favorite games were: Each person on the PS1 side would likely answer with different games, meanwhile the N64 side would have the same games in common (OOT, SM64, Goldeneye, etc.). Similar logic applies to the PS2/GC.

I feel as though what made the PS2 so amazing was the vast library of games, so having a plug and play with a small library removes what was magical about the PS2. Would be cool as a novelty item though

I always had trouble with the analog sticks on the original PlayStation, so you're not alone.
I remember as a kid preferring to play through the Spyro games on PS1 with the d-pad despite playing with a DS1 controller.
Fast forward around two decades later and I played through the Reignited Trilogy exclusively with the DS4 analog sticks. Evolution of a gamer I guess?
Analog was quite new and not every game supported it or could work if it was on and playing games with only dpad it's not really that bad unless dbad is stiff or over sensitive.

I am now REALLY curious as to why these games seem to all be corrupted/not working correctly. I feel like it's either that the manufactures are using a very poorly coded Famicom emulator, or that the ROMs have been corrupted somehow in the manufacturing process. It could also maybe be down to a hardware issue that somehow messes up how the emulation works or how the ROMs are read. I would love to somehow extract the ROMs and see how they run on a reputable Famicom emulator, or even a real FC through the use of a flashcart. Maybe send it over to Modern Vintage Gamer, he seems to specialize in emulation technology and things like that! Great video
My guess is that they didn't even mod some of them in-house and just stole them from other places without bothering to check the quality of the roms. Although, as the video shows, a lot of these are tweaked from what he's found on other bootleg consoles, so who knows?

The Engrish is the best part of rummaging through Aliexpress, and anything that comes from it. The Famiclone hardware with bootleg games was the most predictable and pleasant disappointment you can have with those kinds of devices

When I first played MGS on the PSX I didn't have a Dual Shock, I used a normal controller.
Yeah, I thought playing MGS on the original PlayStation controller was very normal. Same with Resident Evil 1&2, Twisted Metal, and many others. Come to think of it, I'm having a hard time remembering if I ever had a Dual Shock controller at all.

@@Derekthepersonable Yeah, hell, I don't even think the polystation is all that bad. It does have AV out, and a cartridge slot...basically a standard NES. That's really it. Once you get past the disappointment of realizing it doesn't play PS1 games, it's a decent NES if I remember correctly.

I’m genuinely surprised that there have been no N64 clone consoles. I’ve seen Famiclone N64 controllers, but never a full system. I wonder why that is?
The N64 controller would require some effort to copy.
I’d assume it would, but I’ve seen some famiclones that are inside of N64 controller replicas.
@@markify8019 I used to have one. It was called the Power Player II and my dad showed it to me when I was a kid. I had no idea about ripoff consoles back then and since it was shaped like a N64 controller, I thought it was a fun novelty by Nintendo releasing a bunch of their old 8-bit games on that device.
It had three way composite, surprisingly, and a player 2 remote shaped like the PS1 remotes on the device shown in this video (but it was purple and yellow, not gray and black). Surprisingly, it worked great for years, even when the composite cables started rotting. It took four AA batteries and besides the N64 buttons, it also had a mini steering wheel on the bottom of the controller for racing games; that thing eventually got finicky but for a while it was pretty cool.
Have to say, in its prime, the Power Player II was a decent knockoff.
Even if Mario Bros was called Mr. Mary and Super Mario Bros was replaced with the knockoff Super Panda XD
Dang! I’ve heard of one called the super game III and it sounds a lot like that. I’m super surprised the thing held up over time!
@@markify8019 Yeah it eventually got all weird and I noticed F1 Race would sometimes run at half speed, or would always crash when I reached a particular speed.
The device had one major annoyance: there was a cartridge sticking out of the bottom of the controller, holding all the games. If I bumped it with my hand while playing, the whole system would crash. I found myself sometimes entering two player mode and deliberately playing as player 2 to avoid the risk.
I love that this episode was kind of a redemption arc for Shane when showing some of those games from prior "Worst Ever" consoles. It was great to see Animal Contest and Frantic MOOSE again. Maybe we'll see some Burbles again sometime in the future.
