It amazes me how they were able to make _every single emulator_ run bad. That's an accomplishment right there.
I'm going to guess that someone took a preexisting emulator firmware package (possibly running on Linux), chucked it onto an underpowered ARM SoC, shovelled a pile of ROMs scraped from a homebrew site, and called it a day. The PS1 footage looks suspiciously like it's using software rendering, probably because the SoC either doesn't have 3D hardware or because they couldn't be bothered to make the driver work.

Cause it's cheaper, and there are (supposedly) enough people that just don't know jack-all about the stuff, it just looks like the one you/your son/grandson wanted, so you (the cursed being that has some sad level of knowledge about games) buy this instead of the much more expensive original one.
After all, if you just look at the pictures and specs it seems to be "good" right?
They probably get their money out of pure lack of information and places you can't return your stuff feasibly, like on aliexpress, you would have to prove that it actually is defective, or send it back all the way to China to get refunded, good luck paying for that shipping.

The problem is: The hardware, even in cheap systems, would be good enough to run the games. It's the emulation software that fucks up every game so far..

Haha, what it is calling Super Mario BT was the first Kaizo light rom hack I ever saw many many years ago. It's not broken, it's a ROM hack designed to be very difficult.
The first jump you make doesn't seem to work on this version. The console and emulator are so bad that it delays inputs randomly making any attempt to beat it impossible.

Also, I imagine the NES mod of Mario World may have come out in a foreign country to give to poorer households that couldn’t afford the new system back in the day, Cloth Map has a really good video about how that was common in places like Brazil and resulted in exclusive NES ports/demakes.
@@obeseingThe Brazilian PAL-M system used 60hz and 525 lines. Basically an NTSCized PAL variant.
Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, on the other hand, use PAL-N, at 50hz and 625 lines; PAL-N VCRs can even play standard PAL types and vice versa.
The Chinese are forever stuck in the 90s with their games. Give us a boot leg PS4 or something!

I have a bootleg vita that has ps2 games. Persona 3, baby.
The vita was way ahead of its time, shame it flopped. I love how they gave us actual analog sticks on a portable and the touch pad on the back so you can use touch controls mid game without your hand blocking the screen. Great graphics for its time too.
The only other portable I've seen with good analog sticks is the JXD Singularity. Shame mine got fried, it was a great Android system.

The SEGA Nomad was basically a Mid-90’s Nintendo Switch.
Nomad is just a Switch for Genisis games.
Love my old Nomad, wish its TV out still worked properly.
I'd say the Nomad is more like a 90s SNES Classic, since it was basically just a portable Mega Drive. I know the SNES Classic isn't portable, but still, it only plays SNES games, and the Nomad only plays Mega Drive games. The Switch has its own exclusive titles.

@@nthgth Yes, it's just extremely hard. I think it's either pixel perfect to land on that block or you can jump on frame 1 when the level loads.

There is a way to beat it for sure, however this console is so bad at running the rom it just doesn't seem to function at all.
@@rerez it's probably due to the delay, mario doesn't immediately start moving, so you don't go far enough to actually land on the block.

Probably just them dumping random ROMs they didn't bother to properly title.
The shortened titles come from the way MAME/Final Burn looks for roms. I'm not sure how their frontend works, but if you use MAME or Fightcade, you'll see you need to have your roms named a certain way for it to be detected and working.

Fun fact, that Minivader game? That's not a fake Space Invaders game. That was officially made by Taito. It was sent out with their EGRET arcade cabinets and, if memory serves me right, was meant to comply with a Japanese law saying that all cabinets sold should come with some form of software. Minivader was that software. It was supposed to be a game to throw away and replace with another game for cohesion amongst Game Center floors so you wouldn't have a million different looking arcade machines.

The reason why is because PAL TVs are slower than Sonic
@@Bro-cx2jc The pitch difference is typically less than a semitone between PAL consoles' audio and NTSC consoles. It's not a minor third like you'd expect from the frame rate.

@@BlueflagAlpha Nah, not really. It's very much functional, and just has some key features removed for people who might want a slightly cheaper switch and don't need those features. It runs games just as well as the Switch, has about the same battery life and the controls are equally responsive.
To be clear, I don't own either console and haven't tested them myself. This info is mainly from reviews here on TH-cam.
@@PunakiviAddikti I Have tested both and this is pretty much right, the battery life on the normal switch is just a bit longer afaik.

@@jusstynooldchannel4911 Yep. I believe it depends heavily on how much you load it but playing the same game on the same settings and same brightness gives close to same battery life.
I'm perfectly happy with my lite. I've got an old school tube t.v. that doesn't do much past 360 without an HDMI to composite adaptor lmao I just needed my Zelda fix.

The X12 was my entry into handheld emulation gaming, and I have to say, for the $35 I spent on it it wasn't half bad. However, getting the money saved up for an RGB 10 Max and plans to get an Odin Pro in the future definitely ring it home that there are much better handheld emulation devices out there, including your own phone with Retro Arch.
