I was emulating SNES games pretty much flawlessly on my cheap-ass PC around 18 years ago. It's mind-boggling how they manage to screw up 8-bit emulation now. What do they put in these machines, a rotting potato with some pins stuck on it?
It's poor emulation, just poor emulation.

The problem isn't that Soulja Boy was trying to break into the games market.
The problem was that he was trying to do it with a crowbar and ski mask.
I like this comparison.
These games and DVD players are actually pretty common here in the Philippines, usually being sold by low-end Chinese and Taiwanese department stores. The games are distributed EXACTLY as you see them, from the controllers down to the actual game menus.

I've been there for a family visit. I've actually been in one of those during a Philippine tech haul. I don't want to say anything about it.
I have the same disc as the one in the video and it works on a normal dvd player. Played a bunch of the games on it though i never noticed how off sync the sound was.

I thought that EVD stood for “Evil DVD”.
I thought it meant Evil Versatile Device.
The reason why it's lagging so much and has so much slowdown is because it's reading directly from the disc. The laser can only pass by that section of the disc so quickly, and the buzzing sound is the interrupt between the laser speeding over unused portions of the disc to get to the portions with the current data on it. Some old 3DO, SEGA Mega CD, and Saturn games used to have the same problem. Since it doesn't have RAM it can't store the data and read ahead on the disc to load new portions of the ROM. It's also why discs stop working the moment the laser gets stuck instead of playing a bit more video before finding the end of the pre-loaded data. Combine that with the fact that it has to essentially halve it's already meager 150MHz or so processing power to emulate an entire Famicom plus sort inputs from the controller, and I actually have to commend it being able to do this at all.

Being a Chinese device it's likely they had to make the emulator a side feature for legal purposes and didn't up spec the system because they wanted to avoid it being labeled a illegal game console.
Oh, that makes sense. Thanks! Honestly, all of these issues could have been avoided if they just added some flash memory and loaded all of the ROMs into it from the disc when reading it.
I downloaded thousands of NES ROMs into my USB flashdrive and the games run fine on my DVD player few years ago.
They could've just add a cheap 8MB RAM or something. Would've made the games run better.

There’s no such thing as an hd or digital antenna . Those are buzz words . You can hook up an 80s antenna to a tv with a digital tuner or a digital converter box .

cheap, reverse-engineered famiclones were all over the market in 90s, it's absolutely insane we have a DOWNGRADE from that nowadays! xD
Did you try putting the game disc in a PC to see if it could be read? Then you could potentially pull the ROMs off of it and test them on a PC and see if it was a problem with the ROMs that made them play so poorly.

I have a feeling that the disc is too small to house all the ROMs, even tho ROMs are tiny. You know the disc is as cheap as it can be, probably closer to 1 Mb. It's probably another bypass thingy that tells the system what library to access.
@@PunakiviAddikti A mini DVD holds 1,4GB and a mini CD holds at least 155MB so there's certainly enough space for few roms.
Personally, I'd rather not risk having my machine contract whatever malware is hidden on the disc itself. Just because the BUYEE isn't able to run it doesn't mean it's not there. (Hell, maybe it actually can, and the malware is the real source of the emulation issues.)
or probably was the loader for the emulator and all the games are still on the unit and that disc is nothing more than the emulator alone, who knows

Actually, the 300 games collection is many Chinese childhood memory. It comes in many form, but only got the same content. Back in the day Chinese unlicensed VCD and DVD player were hitting the market (especially rural market). A game-compatible player would be like a treasure to a kid live in a countryside. This is my first memory with console video game, too. Along with a NES-based computer called BuBuGao(步步高).

Lots of these Bootleg consoles can be found online or in countries that aren't western. Usually in Asia.
I actually have the same game disc that the buyee has and it works with a normal dvd player. My dad plugged a Bootleg ps1 controller to the dvd player and i played with it alot, a few years ago.
