You are so right that the 'young children' stage is short! You have no idea how short until it over and the kids are older or gone from home. Enjoy every moment of it since it is the best time of your life. That is a quote from my children's great grandmother when they were very young. Now I'm a grandmother passing that priceless bit of knowledge on to younger moms. With tears in my eyes, I should add.

You have inspired me SO much!! I’ve been a secret slob my whole life, and now that I’m cleaning in short spurts like this, my whole world is shifting. I have a new baby, and it can get really hard to clean and sometimes I feel like “oh man I didn’t get to everything.” Then, I look at my house and realize how much BETTER it is, and I have so much pride in myself! My husband and family are shocked by this change in me. 🤣 If I can do it, anyone can.

Congratulations on your baby!!! 😀😀 And KNOW that now that you have a "shiny sink," you WILL get it back to shiny sooner if you do leave it full of dishes. I backslid three times, and now I have a shiny sink every night 90 percent of the time! When I see some dishes in the morning, I don't feel overwhelmed, because I know I CAN GET MY SHINY SINK BACK really quickly!
YOU BLESS YOURSELF when you take care of your home! Seeing it tidy makes you feel like a million bucks! It doesn't have to be perfect. When you embrace the fact that doing Zone work regularly is important, you WILL be motivated! 😀😀💜💜
You CAN do this!! Keep going, and join the official site on Facebook, "TheFlyLady."

@@BabyandLittleGuy Yes! Even if things get messy, you know that you can recover quickly because you got rid of excess junk, you have places to put things away, and you have routines.

@@BabyandLittleGuy thank you for this! My dishes are in the dirty-dish cupboard, it's 9.30pm, and i was feeling guilty, but you're absolutely right! Tomorrow is another day, and i can get it done real quick. It's no longer the nightmare it used to be.

Steph, I love how non judgmental you are. Not just this video but in all your videos. You have been an inspiration for me with just talking about progress not perfection, do your best, it’s not about being perfect, etc. So helpful! Thank you for putting your content out there to help other moms. 😄❤️

Steph, I'm so glad I stumbled on your channel early on or I would never have started the Flylady system nor decluttered our home. Something I've been doing for several years to keep my shower easy to clean is I banned bar soaps. I found soap scum was so daunting. Gels or liquids rinse more completely off walls and people. An earth friendly, plastic free, biodegradable product I'm using and loving is EarthRX Bodpods. It's the best! Keep up the great work, ladies! It's always a treat to see you pop on on my feed. XXOO❤❤

Steph.. I have LOVED your channel since the early days. And now I am absolutely LOVING having Jill on. I am a working mom, who took 24 months maternity break (in a country that only gives 3 months paid leave) and now am a working mom. Due to covid, of course I am working from home. I definitely am a secret slob.. but am slowly improving.
Steph - you have such a sunshine demeanor that you make everything sound so happy and doable and achievable!! I love watching you for a boost of motivation and will. And now, watching Jill is an absolute pleasure as well!
Jill -- please make+share more content on: cooking during the week, grocery shopping, keeping up with kids' activities ..and more about what you do for your me-time, time with spouse, and any self improvement you do (for your profession).
Thanks, you guys!! You both are the best!

As children get older, go into school etc. priorities will change. A huge tip is don't let things pile up. Wash dishes as you use them,, I do even tho I have a dish washer, this way I always have all of the dishes done at all times. It just takes a minute or less. And the kitchen stays clean. Ten minute tasks are wonderful. You realize you can get a lot done in that time. Probably the biggest thing I learned is to have a more minimal approach to everything. ,Less stuff means less to take care of get rid of at least 60% of your "stuff". VERY entertaining video ! tfs 💗

I tried and failed at Flylady so many years ago when my 4 kids were little and we were homeschooling. I've just started again now that they are all grown, 3 have flown away and I'm no longer a SAHM. Your videos (did TH-cam exist when I tried last? I don't know) are so encouraging and real. I need to start decluttering, but my kitchen is always clean, my bedroom and bathroom are always clean, it's a big relief of stress actually! It's been two weeks I think, I'm picking and choosing as you suggest and my house is now always ready if someone were to stop by unexpectedly. Thanks for sharing, it's fun remembering what it was like when mine were very little and not so fun remembering how much a mess our home was.

I so agree about flylady routines and not feeling overwhelmed on everything "household". It can rule your life !!! One of the biggest helps for me and I've been with her for yrs and yrs, is when I started timing myself on different chores and now I don't dread it all. Diane Denmark made that clear to me. When you do laundry, mopping, dishes, etc etc and each only takes a few min. it is a great lesson. I was procrastinating for much longer than it took me to do each thing. I've always made our beds but I needed alot of help on other jobs. When I've worked it almost made things easier because I had no choice. It is great that you and your sister can do this together too, btw.

I also did the 31 babysteps with Diane doing them all then I did weekly homeblessing hour. Working along with her on the whb was great. I then went on to zone cleaning with her. The babysteps seem slow going first but accumulated action of 2 minute hotspot 5 minutes room rescue then 15 minute decluttering every day was amazing. I either do a mission which I think is part of the zone cleaning or just declutter instead even if it is 1 item. The hardest thing for me to adopt was the meal planning and car and purse day

First of thank you so much Jill for being open about your opinion on “stay at home Mom vs Working Mom!” I think that was very brave of you as there are probably plenty of people out there that will hate and think that is selfish of you. I have been a Working Mom and now a stay at home Mom (for reason out of my control) and sometimes I feel guilty for wanting to be a Working Mom again. It might sound extreme but you have given me peace of mind that I’m not the only one that would prefer to be a Working Mom. Second I’m new here and love the recap as normally on channels you have to go through the previous videos and figure things out for yourself! I am loving you both and your spirits and wholesomeness. Kudos and keep it up!! ❤️👍🏼🙌🏼🙏🏼😎

Now I am a professional doula, so I kind of get the best of both worlds. I am mostly at home, but I get to support families as they welcome their babies every month or so. Great video...and of course, great stories at the end!!! 😃 About starting with baby steps... I recently listened to an audiobook about home management by Dana K. White, (not Flylady specific but fits right in!), and she added onto that by saying to make sure you focus on doing the habit on day 2. In the example of doing the dishes every night, day 1 might feel hard, because there are more than one day’s dishes, and of course because it’s a new habit. But on day 2, there will only be one day’s dishes. So day 1 doesn’t show you what it will really feel like to do it as a habit, but day 2 will. I’ve experienced that, but it was great to have it put into words! Hope you all enjoy the rest of your vacation!!!

    Dear Steph,
Your story at the beach was hillarious! I have 3 kids as well. If one asks you the question: a fourth one...I see your hesitation...in my case: course I woyld take a fourth one if I only listen to mother nature...but practically: nope: not in for another car and organisational probs...apart from not further want to be sooo tired of already 3 little children...but one cannot say it out loud...otherwise it might sound like you do not enjoy 3 kids, although you do! Working around in the area where your kuds are playing is a magical tip: staying close but nit interfearing: one of the principles of the teachibg of Maria Montessori and and your kids and you yourself do feel safe because you are just in eachothers' neighbourhood..no word needs to be spoken. Enjoy your life and thank ylu for being there in mine.

Great video ladies! Loved the stories!! I am so glad you said that you don't do all 31 baby steps. That was overwhelming to me and I felt like some of them weren't for me. Looking forward to starting fresh on Sept. 1st.

I love your progress not perfection. I have been forced to homeschool my children because our schools are staying closed. Even though it is so hard and I feel like crying more often than I want, I have to remind myself that I am doing my best and that good enough is good enough. Yes I stayed in my pajamas all day and so did the kids. But we did all of the school work, they are fed and healthy and that is what is important.

Venetia, I'm sure you're doing much better than you think, and your children will have good memories of spending this kind of time with you. My daughter chose to homeschool all five of her kids; it gave her remarkable freedom to go places with her husband when he traveled; every trip was a learning opportunity. However, she says YOU have the harder job, because you're not starting at the kindergarten level like she did, you're not picking your own curriculum, and you're being forced to just jump in full bore. It will start to come easier for you... and just as get a handle on it, they'll go back to school! My mom's favorite saying is one I'll pass on: This too will pass.

Lol!!! When I was 20, we were tubing on the lake on Fourth of July weekend. I was belly down being pulled on the tube and somehow a big gush of water came up and whoosh!!! Off came my bikini bottom! All the way off! And I was laughing so hard I couldn’t tell them to stop so I could get my suit. I was so lucky that someone just happened to have an extra pair of shorts on the boat.

I am not yet at the weekly/daily checklists but am working on it. I have decided that if I am to get things done easy accessibility to " tools" is necessary.
Ex: I decided the kitchen cupboard doors needed to be washed. And that I would do it today. So last night I put out the step stool, cleaning rags, baking soda, Dr Bronner's Castile Soap and bowl
Lucky I did because I forgot about it until I saw the tools this morning. So, while heating my morning coffee water I set to work. Quick, and easy - felt extremely accomplished when I had my first cup of coffee to see my work. Not telling you how long it had been since they had had a good scrub but the water was dirty :(
Since setting up ahead of time for projects worked I will be doing this again soon
    Thank you for encouraging others

Loved this! Jill-I am a working mom as well with 3 girls. My question is-how do you get rid of mom guilt when you haven’t seen your kids all day and you are trying to get your routines done? I feel like it is so hard to juggle it all and not feel guilty!
