- Ram owner the 19 and 20 Dodge Cummins has introduced a Cp4 High Pressure Fuel pump that comes factory on your truck. Why is this ? Did the CP3 have a high failure rate? Or is emission standards forcing these engines manufactures to make changes?

Now they just announced a recall on the 3rd Gen EcoDiesels that they put on the CP4 Pumps. Letters go out first of December, but parts will only be available in Q2 2023
S&S has been great to work with, I did have a bit of a noise with my first CP3 I put on. They had my trouble shoot a little bit with retorquing, eventually sent me a new pump, and reimbursed me for the work I had done paying to retorque. They are quick to answer emails in business hours as well.

It’s nice having a new truck I spent $70k on and turning around and having to dump another $10k into it so it’s not a piece of shit.
Almost seems like you should’ve done some research before dropping 70k
i have a 2020. 2200 for full delete and tunes. 3 grand for the cp3
I run Hot shot and I have 220,000 miles on my CP4 pump, but I also do my maintenance on schedule and swap all filters every oil change and never let my fuel get below 1/4 level

2019 and 2020 ram got a recall to replace cp4 to a cp3
2021 pump is confirmed by a tag picture that it's a CP-ISB21. It's been in development for about a year. Presumed to be a redesigned version of the CP3 with higher PSI capability.

My 2020 lost its pump at 26k. Took the dealership a month to get it fixed and they only replaced the pump. So i sold it to a honda dealership for more than i paid for it. And found a 2010 manual trans. Happy to not have to deal with that again.

Swapped mine out to S&S diesel cp3.
Mine is 2020 my brothers 2021 it has that cp3, why?? Cause they had more than 5 out of 1000 fail!!! A lot more was failing! Warranty company should be grateful I upgraded! Love the videos!

There’s a recall on the cp4 right now to convert it back to a cp3. I’m doing one at the moment. The dealership kit comes with a new powersteering line with the kit plus everything else to do the job

All 2019, 2020 Ram Cummins have a recall in effect for this CP4 pump. The fix will be to replace the CP4 pumps with CP3 pumps. Recieved my recall notice a few days ago.
This has been a very hot topic with our clients !
I had TWO CP4s fail on me within 10k miles of one another on a 2017 F350. I was told on the second repair that the first repair shop didn’t do a good enough job cleaning out the system. $22k for both.
Diesel truck owners think that because of the old 12 valve Cummins and international Ford I had one of the international fords with over a million miles on it
Cp4 turned out to be a dud, do your research. No it is not because of the pump but the diesel fuel in the United States is what I was told. But don't you think someone would have checked this out before they put it in all the 2019 and 2020 Rams.

I’m literally that guy. Every 5k miles oil/filter/fuel filter change/key cycle 5-7x before starting after filter change. I’m still concerned.
Add a Fass and swap it sir . What people leave out is how inefficient the low press pump is and starves the high pressure pump !

I’ve got a 2019 and I added an extended warranty just because of the CP4. I drain my filters every month and I change the filters every 10K. I still worry about the stupid pump.
I’ve been following S&S from the day they announced the development of their CP3. I’ve thought about doing the conversion just for the piece of mind. Of course, my warranty(s) would be out the window but I would have a bit more faith in my truck. Now with the 2021 coming stock with the CP3, I wonder if the manufacturer/dealers have any program to swap out the pump and maintain the factory warranty. Of course, if the CP4 hasn’t failed, I would have to eat the cost of the new pump. But that might be better than worrying about the CP4 reliability.

At this time we haven’t gotten any info on the factory warranty swap and still keep factory warranty. I don’t see why though they wouldn’t allow customers to purchase this installation via dealer ship and have it installed with a warranty.

The customer that had this pump replaced by you can be reimbursed according to Ram customer service. Have them provide all receipts to Ram. This recall will be going out after 1 January 2022.

@@POINTBLANKPERFORMANCE Thanks for the get back. I reach out when I can. This came directly from Ram customer service. I fortunately haven't had a pump issue. Since new I've added Hotshot Secret additives with some additional additives. My 6.7 sounds great. No metal seen on the fuel metering valve. The Exergy replacement I think is a good investment. I will have my pump replaced though when this recall goes out.
I asked a Dodge dealer if they can change out my CP4 pump to a CP3 on my 2020 Cummins but they said they don’t think they can change that since it came with the truck .?
Yes sir the swap can be done we do them in house or the dealer can perform the swap with a oem pump.
I also have a eco diesel 3.0 I have to do a fuel system on also cause the cp4 took a crap 🤡😤

My 2019 ram 3500 cp4 went out at 52k. Warranty covered it but truck was at the dealer for 1 1/2 months. Sucked

No they didn't. I talked to them about it and they said that they couldn't do that. They put in the upgraded cp4 they said. Im currently going thru a repurchase for my truck. Over engine leaking oil and they can't fix it. It's currently at the dealer now over the engine leak.

I have 2019 ram 3500 first 10499 had issue with cp4 dealer didn't replace the fuel system they replaced all engine assembly from A to Z now 32000 have the same problem and dealer said they don't have part to fix it till end of jun so I don't what to do should I go with cp3 from ss and lose the warranty or buy used 2018 and ?
Hands down do a S&S kit and move forward the 5Th gen is a much better platform than the 4Th gen sir !
Forgot to mention that it cancels your cummins warranty.

They did sir the story we got was after replaced twice they voided his warranty for reasons between them and the customer.
Which kit do you prefer just the kit or cp3 notune or cp3 as or jut get the 10SH
Personally the 10mm kit that way if and when in the future you want more power it’s on tap with the pump ! The no tune is perfect for the guy wanting to just do the pump and leave his truck always bone stock.

I would just remake the video, going to be thousands who do not watch the whole thing because you stated 2021 has CP4. I know you clarified it at the end, maybe clarify it at the beginning.
If someone makes it at least 55 seconds (I would call this the beginning) into the video then they will see the note about an update on the 2021s. 👍🏻

3 Kits done in house so far all client have been happy with no failure sir. Longest kit has been on for 4 months sir.

@@MrBigthugnasty The cp3 barely fits on the 5th gen ram as well, like another centimeter towards the block and it wouldn't fit. I think they do make a recovery kit for the powerstroke as well. Honestly if they had made a recovery kit for the ram I would have probably gone that route.
@@nottheonlyjustin I’ve heard mixed reviews of the disaster kits for as much as they cost and still not 100% guaranteed plus would be cool to just do away with that cp4 and not have to worry bout it

Funny now there removing these cp4 pumps because of metal shavings getting into the fuel system. Which is causing tens of thousands dollars worth of damage in some rigs. The "irony" of it all lol.

Well my first truck was a 2006 with a CP3 and a garbage transmission, now my 2 nd truck a 2019 with a good transmission and a garbage fuel pump and a smaller fuel tank. My third truck won’t be a RAM for sure. I’m done with your dumb engineering!
