As part of the niche of heavy marathon runner (95 kg / 210 lbs at 180 cm / 5'10.9 feet) i really like the feel of the mid sole. It absorbs a lot of the impact while it feels like i get more repsone than in other high stack shoes i have tried. I have had a lot of problems with shin splints since New York marathon 2019, and these have been the first shoes which i could run in more than once a week without being in pain. So i think your estimation about it being suited for heavy runners is right :-)
thanks for taking one for the team Edd, I'm loving the Adios Pro 2 and had hoped the Boston would be a kinda Tempo Next % as a partner in the rotation, but I guess I'll get some more use out of the Tempo.
I've got 35 miles in my B10's and I have noticed them livening up quite a bit compared to my initial 12 mile run in them. I am a heavier runner (250lbs) and the impact protection is sufficient with decent response on concrete. I really enjoy them on downhill segments as I can lean forward and really zoom without the bone rattling impact I feel in lower stack shoes like the Adizero Pro.
For me the Adios 6 is the "new" Boston. Adios used to be the top notch racing flat (see 2:02:57 by Kimetto), now it's more of a lightweight trainer. The Boston 10 has no Boston DNA, seems to be a heavy brick ;-)
Tip top stuff as always Edd! Interesting you are comparing the Boston 10 to a meal with no flavour. I don't know if you've ever flown with Delta to the USA but I still have nightmares of a flight attendant saying 'Pasta or Chicken?' for the in flight meal and realising that the correct answer is always "I'm okay, thanks". Boston 10 sounds like a Delta shoe. 😂 For me the most summery Nick Drake is Bryter Layter. That album is criminally overlooked but it is such a beautiful record and always sounds bathed in sunshine because of the strings, horns and bass. Is actually my fave ND LP.
I've been based in Qatar (World Cup 2022 host) for the past 12yrs and I still can't get used to the weather we are getting for the whole 8mos duration of the summer season. Right now we are at 38C temp, heat index of 45C with humidity of 75% - at 0330am. Midday hits 40C++ temp, heat index of 55C with humidity of around 40%-50%. Peak summer heat index will max at 60C-65C which is around August. Water from the tap is literally smoking and you can cook an egg on the asphalt and on the roof of cars out in the streets.
Great review. I live in Thailand for several years, being German, I still don't get used to the heat. 28c is a cool day. Regarding your blood stain. I had luck removing blood stains with hydrogen peroxide.
Got 50miles in my Boston 10's now and I don't really have any regrets. Done a 16mile run in them and they just cruise along. I agree that the rods don't do anything apart from add weight and the upper is a little thick, but I wouldn't say overly so. If you are looking at buying a pair, I wouldn't say that they are amazing, but they certainly aren't a bad shoe. I'll let you know after the Manchester Marathon if I've changed my mind :P Glad you're persisting Edd, with so many shoes out there right now, I know not many people are.
I tried the B10 and Puma's Deviate nitro at start fitness yesterday.. the Puma felt fantastic in comparison and on special offer at only £117 Earth credits 😯
I'm a fan of the Deviates as well if not for the heel issues that I and many others have had with it. I'm waiting to see if they fix it in the second version. If so, I'm a Puma guy!
I got the price wrong.. £115 at Start Fitness - I think at that price I might have a punt ...I think the FOD Runner took a knife to his to fix the heel??
Hi Edd I bought the Boston 10 and also the Adizero Adios 6. Both models in the same size. I find the Boston 10 much more comfortable; with the Adios 6 the toe box was too narrow and not high enough. That's why I returned the Adios 6; I'm happy with the Boston 10 so far; but I've only used it casually so far, but I find it much more comfortable on my feet than the Adios 6... I'm curious to see how your opinion of the Boston 10 will change; great video as always!
Stopped to complain about the heat, LOL! You’d fit in well in Atlanta, Edd. Pink Moon was always my favorite early morning flight album when I used to travel heavily for work. It is a very soothing soundtrack to match a sunrise on the climb to cruising altitude.
Ha ha, I understand your lament about the weather, it is draining to run in the heat. Average temperature here in Singapore is 33C and 98% humidity. 24C is considered a cold day.
I have a pair of B10's and I totally understand your take on the shoe. I am totally unimpressed with the shoe. I would have taken them back if not for the heavy scuffing on the felt portion on the toe of the shoe that would not come out... it's immediately going to my give away or walking around shoe...
I am now at about 25mi into the Boston 10..it's definitely not a racing shoe but it's a definitely improvement over the adios 6 as a daily trainer..I can concur with the comment about the feel when bombing downhill..I suspect you can get more compression on the forefoot and get the response from the energy rods.. I'm not fast enough nor heavy enough except on a downhill..the 6 just felt flat and dull at any speed and probably won't stay around long..our daily temps are now regularly 28c and up and with humidity over 90%.. my lake is quite chilly for swimming but it is awesome for a head first plunge at the end of morning run..sometimes i even take off my shoes first..LOL..it's always great to feel the humidity drops that says fall is on the way..easy to understand why many marathons are in the fall
I just went to the shops and tried the Boston 10 vs Adios 6. Of those two Boston 10 was far better feeling for me, that extra midsole felt great for my 85kgs. I tried the Pro 2, amazing but $$$. I also tried the Nike Tempo Next% which I found equally good to the Boston 10 but with a less smooth transition perhaps with more heel cushion. Lastly I tried the Nike Invincibles which were cushy pillows and supportive but I’m guessing quite a warm shoe for our Sydney weather. In the end the Store convinced me out of the Boston’s based on their perception that they might not be as durable and would be stiffer. I remain, undecided.
Some running news for you Ed (at least until 0800 on Tuesday). Asos 'freedom day' discount. I managed to get the Puma Velocity Nitro's for £72 with the discount......By the way that was for 2 pairs (£45 with 20% off).
Picked up the B10 for 56 US earth credits. 5’9” 130lbs working great for treadmill run when too wintry out there. I’m not a fan of the treadmill but the B10s look nice at the gym 😅
A brilliant shoe, for an 85kg warrior anyway.. It’s like a wild horse, just needs some love.. Lots of the lightweight reviewers didn’t like this shoe, I put it up there joint top with the superblast, work brilliantly together.. Reviewers have become soft like recent cushions?! Anyway, warriors buy this shoe 👍
I like how this feels on my foot but I’m getting pain on the outside of my left foot after a few kms. I may have to cut my losses on this one. It’s a shame because the Boston 9 is one of my favourite shoes.
I actually like the shoe, I'm the only one it seems. Saying that I'm not a previous Boston runner so for me it might as well be the Boston 1. For me it's a good long run/ everyday trainer. I like the sturdiness of it, feels like it'll go forever. That feeling of the shoe making you run a certain way could be the rods, it's the same feeling in the adios pro but with a much springier midsole so you notice it more.
Running in Soar - oh fancy …. I ran in Nike TechKnit Ultra for the first time - my protrusions became very sore so I had to run topless 😮 I was alone on the trails, it was very liberating- 😂
@@EDDBUD I understand you're pain. I used the Garmin Vivio Active 3 I believe it's called. Overall much better than the Garmin Forerunner 25 that died last year. However, it has been slipping up & down on my wrist on sweaty runs as of late.
@EDDBUD - Your description states RC Elite 2 directly below the title which is Adidas Adizero Boston 10. 😳 And you said no one reads your video descriptions! 😋
The B10 is firm out of the box and got a little softer for me after 10 miles or so. Overall, it's a great looking shoe, but running in it just feels ordinary, which is a big let down given all the design elements. It's less than the sum of its parts.
Embrace running in these warmer temperatures Edd! I think the global warming that's causing all these freak weather events of the last couple of weeks will mean that we're going to get hotter and hotter summers in the UK! 🌞🌞🌞
Every review I read and/or watch for this iteration of the "Boston" irritates me more. This seems a complete miss of an update. I don't recall the adizero range including a model that so broadly alienated the core crowd and newcomers. They should just discontinue this model and continue the range with the RC, Takumi Sen, adios, adiosPro and throw a Pro or Prime in from time-to-time for experimentation. But take more care with the legacy models. Runners and running haven't changed much over 15-20 years. Trends change all the time. ✌🏽💙🏃🏽♂️
For me the Boston 10 works fine. No issues. And they feel better the more I run in them. Foam seems to losen up and getting more comfy.
Me too.. What’s ya weight? I’m 85kg, it’s my wild horse , which every warrior needs..

Try the Reebok Symmetros.
They by far my favorite responsive shoe for bigger guys ( same weight)

They have setup the Boston 11 to be really nice, so many places they can make improvements. Thinking more stable Adios Pro for the regular people.
